All libraries who have stocked other books in this series must of course have this one, too. I fell right back into this family as if it hadn't been oh so many years since the last one. I love them all. Even if there are too many mentions of the prayer that mever fails and perhaps a little too much overdone preaching, I still love these books, and this was no exception.

Jan Karon hit it out of the mountains with this newest edition to The Mitford series! Her writing style, in my opinion, is back to her first few novels in the series. Be sure to read the ‘dear reader’ letter at the back. A must read for all Mitford fans!

Wow, what a delightful read! Welcome back to Mitford, with all of its small-town Southern charm and quirky characters. I thoroughly enjoyed this latest addition to the series and savored each chapter. It had me laughing out loud many times but also engaged in the serious parts. The author's use of local vernacular brought the characters to life and had me in stitches at times. There are deep issues addressed in parts too, with some backstories and family issues woven in, so it is not a fluffy Christmas read; it is done carefully and gently though. The recaps helped jog my memory, but now I want to reread the entire series! This is a perfect wrap up of the series, but I truly hope she writes more.
Terrific read! 5+ stars!

What a blessing to revisit Mitford and its host of characters after all these years. This winter tale is as comforting and warm as a thick blanket. Add a wood fireplace, hot tea and lovely soundtrack to create a cozy atmosphere appropriate for a chilly mountain tour through the town. Acknowledgments and Afterward provide joy and tissue-worthy moments to linger a bit longer. The only downside is leaving again as the book draws to a close.

I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.

Returning to Mitford is like returning home after a long vacation and it is something that I truly needed, even though I have reread or listened to the entire Mitford series many times it was nice to catch up with my dear friends.
While there were times that I felt the book moved quite slowly but on the other hand it went by to quickly. I hate to say it but there were a couple of mistakes that were made and I hope that they are corrected when the book hits the street and one being the name of Cynthia's uncle who left her the little yellow house. But all in all it was a good book and one that I look forward to reading again.
Thanks to NetGalley, G.P. Putman Son Publishing and our Beloved Author Ms. Jan Karon for giving me the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.

What an absolutely gift Jan Karon has given us! Just when we needed Mitford the most, she writes the perfect novel for all Mitford fans. The writing was perfection, and so many characters received such loving attention by the author. This book is exactly what I needed; it was like a balm to my soul. My sincere thanks to G.P. Putnam's sons and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and provide an honest review of the book. #MyBeloved #NetGalley

I was excited to see there was a new book, this is book 15 of the Mitford Novel series, and I have read, them all, and they are amazing, but if you haven't, you would get so much from this story.
Father Tim wrote a love letter to his wife which is what she wants for Christmas, and she loves poetry, so he bought a book he knew she would enjoy and put the love letter in the book at a certain page, that marked something special. After he wrapped it, it disappeared, and he couldn't find it anywhere. He didn't know that it had been picked up by mistake and dropped in a box to be delivered to someone else. As Christmas is getting closer, it seems to be picked up and placed somewhere else, many times for someone else to find. In the synopsis, the question was asked, can a letter change a life? The story will tell you if it does and how it does, which I so enjoyed.
I received an ARC from G.P. Putnam's Sons through NetGalley.

I haven’t read the other books in this series, but this one was a heartwarming story set around Christmas in the town of Mitford. In the book, Tim writes a touching letter to his wife as part of her Christmas gift, but the letter goes missing. As it travels through the town, it touches the lives of everyone who finds it. The story is told from different characters’ points of view, giving us a chance to reconnect with familiar faces from earlier books. Visiting Mitford again feels comforting and uplifting.

I was so excited when I seen that there was another book in this series. When life is in turmoil, it is always nice to return to the familiar, to your comfort place. Mitford is that place and reading the newest addition to the Mitford series was a nice balm to a crazy world.
My Beloved is just as comforting and satisfying as all the others that have come before it. It was a heartwarming, charming story that made me smile, made me laugh, made me feel like I was a part of this little town of Mitford and I am hoping we get to return there again someday!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Father Tim writes a love letter to his wife, Cynthia for Christmas but it goes missing. There really is nothing private in Mitford and the letter making its rounds reinforces this embarrassing fact for Father Tim. And, yet, the letter makes a difference in the life of everyone it touches. Every Mitford fan will love this return to a heartfelt place of hope for the holidays and new fans will be made.

It’s been eight years since the last visit to Mitford. Reading My Beloved is like sitting down with an old friend you haven’t seen in a while and catching up over a cup of coffee and a big slice of orange marmalade cake. It was a delight to see life through Father Tim’s eyes again, and the eyes of several other characters. Christmas is coming, and Father Tim cannot find the letter he wrote to Cynthia as her gift.

If you have never read the Mitford series, this is not the place to start. There are loads of discussions about events from previous books, and while the author does a good job of sketching these events, it’s impossible for her to convey all that happened to these characters in the past. This series is worth the time and effort of reading from the start. We get to see bits of the past of a few characters that hasn’t been revealed before.

It was a delight to go back to Mitford. I hope to visit again one day soon.

I loved this book and would recommend it to everyone.

While this is not billed as Christian fiction, Father Tim is a retired priest so expect discussions about God, Jesus, and faith along with prayer.

Family friendly with the exception of an occasional vulgar word for a donkey.

Thanks to NetGalley and Putnam. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I can’t say I’ve read all 14 prior Mitford novels by Jan Karon, but I have read several and also watched the Hallmark Channel’s version of the original 1994 book “At Home in Mitford”. With the last book published in 2017, I thought she’d finished the series, but I thought wrong as, after some personal issues, Ms. Karon has brought us this 15th book set during the Christmas season.
Father Tim decides to write a heartfelt love letter to his wife Cynthia as a Christmas present, but then it goes missing. As the letter passes noticed and sometimes unnoticed around the town, various character’s lives are impacted by it.
There are a lot of characters and while I absolutely remembered several of them, it might have been a good idea – though not necessary – to perhaps read one of the prior ones to refresh memory. But even if you don’t go that route, the author once again brings us a tender story with humor thrown in set in a small town in North Carolina that you will certainly enjoy.

This is my new favorite Mitford book! Jan Karon has done a marvelous job – she kept me laughing, then crying, then gasping in surprise, and then chuckling again as the plot twists came and went, and different plot threads brought back so many favorite characters who populate the streets and hills and valleys of the special little town of Mitford. I liked the fact that instead of numbering chapters, she titles each section with the names of the people who are involved. This helps keep track of which character(s)’ viewpoint(s) is/are the focus of that particular section/episode. Now I’m going back and re-reading some of the earlier books I’d forgotten!

DNFed this one. I don't know if I wasn't in the mood for it, or if the real world that we are living in right now made Mitford seem irritatingly saccharine, but I'm a bit sad that I can't escape to that world any more.

hank you NetGalley and Putman Books for providing me with this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a nice way to visit old, dear friends in Mitford. There's a sort of gentle, meandering story that runs through all of these short stories/vignettes (not sure what to call them) but it's more these little snapshots of favorite characters. There are some glimpses into events from the past that the author has expanded with more details as well as some resolutions regarding certain relationships.

As someone who has read and re-read the Mitford series many times, I enjoyed visiting with these old friends again but I'm not sure if someone who hasn't read the series will get the same enjoyment out of this book.

So, for me, this is a book that I may read again in the future after re-reading the entire series when I'm just not ready to let these characters go.

Always an enjoyable read when I have the pleasure of going back to Mitford! Enjoyed visiting with all the usual characters and the reminders of being a good neighbor, doing life together with others, and how we lift each other up. Always want more from the characters contained within! Enjoyed this installment!

From the first words, I was immediately drawn back into the cozy, quirky world of Mitford. There is a good bit of background information given and so it could be enjoyed by one who has not read the entire series but it will not have the same coming home feeling as it will for those who have loved the series from the beginning.
This is perfect for anyone needing a quiet, contemplative, hopeful, sometimes humorous read around Christmastime.
Highly recommend!!!

Another charming visit to Mitford during the Christmas season. A book and a letter go missing, and travel around the town, changing ideas as they go. Father Tim ministers to his flock, and quirky characters live their lives in the small North Carolina town. The only quibble is in the chapters where Ms Karon writes in what she calls “ vernacular speech”, with lots of dropped vowels replaced with apostrophes. It slowed down the reading a bit too much when every “the” is written th’, plus a lot more words that have to be figured out. As she explains in the author’s notes, her intent is for the reader to understand the characters. But I found it tedious. However, overall, the story is vintage Mitford, and enjoyable. Put it on your library list for holiday reading, and get your pre-order in if you collect her books.

It was a pleasure to revisit Mitford in this book. Rather than excitement, this story leads to contemplation as we follow the lives of various residents of Mitford during the Christmas season. We can get reacquainted with our favorite characters, among them Father Tim, his wife Cynthia, his adopted son Dooley and Dooley's wife, Lace. Of course, all the characters have grown and developed, and it is rewarding to see how they manage their lives in changing times. As I read, I realized that I had missed a couple of books since Somewhere Safe with Somebody Good (2014), and am determined to catch up on the lives of these fascinating people.
