Omg this was so good, a difficult subject with full research and balanced view points. Interesting chapters which made you think about the issue in a different way. The only thing i found frustrating with this was at the start of each chapter (as well as at the beginning) i was told what the chapter would cover and then the chapter. Wilist this may be useful in the future if it is published as a section of papers or essays for this title it just frustrated me. Also without this there would have been more space for more analysis or discussion. It was scary in places but i loved the need for possible solutions and think this is a book that could make an impact on the gun violence in america if used by higher powers. Thank you so much to netgallery, publisher and author for this 5 star read. I highly recommend this for anyone who has a passing interest in the gun situation in usa.

Thank you @netgalley, and @prometheusbooks, for an eARC of The Psychology of Gun Violence by Janet Shibley Hyde.
I find psychology such a fascinating subject. Why we do what we do and how we can change it is such a powerful knowledge and an incredible tool to have. Janey Shibley Hyde provided the credibility that the subject of gun violence needs. I am a big believer in taking the taboo out of subjects, and she did just this with this short, clear, and concise book. It was obviously well researched yet written in simple layman’s terms. Even though America was the focus (and rightly so), it was still an interesting and thought-provoking read. What I appreciated most was the fact that it was EVIDENCE based. Some of my own biases and preconceived ideas and thoughts I previously held regarding gun violence, turns out, were myths!
There were numerous typos, spelling errors, and formatting issues in the eARC I received. However, I expect these would be corrected prior to publication.
Rating: 3.75/5

In The Psychology of Gun Violence, Dr Hyde asks the right questions and has some eye-opening answers.
This is an insightful book for those who live in the States, and those who are curious about why gun violence happens, and how it can be stopped.
A well-written book with a good structure of argument.
