Relaxing summer read. An uplifting book with a flying start, I thought the beginning was entertaining, and it was lovely to follow the developments of Tess. I also loved how she finally connects with her neighbour and that she becomes a strong, independent woman. I would have preferred some more character development and a thicker plot though. Great summer read.

This book is the first part of a new series, and i can't wait to read the next book.
Set in an idyllic Cotswold location, this book features Tess, whose Husband has walked out after having an affair.
She has to rediscover who she is, other than just a Wife and Mother. She has the help of both old and new friends, but also helps them out at the same time.
This book has strong friendships, second chances and is a nice, heartwarming read.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my ARC.

The Forever Cottage is a charming, heartfelt story that beautifully explores themes of friendship, healing, and new beginnings. Jill has a lovely, warm writing style that makes this book feel like a comforting escape.

In the first book in a charming and cozy new series from Jill Steeples, readers meet Tess and Charles Alexander, who live at Hollyhocks Cottage in the village of Lower Leaping in the Cotswolds. Dreaming of a happy retirement, Charles’s devastating news leaves Tess and their beagle Barney on their own. Now facing an uncertain future, Tess reconstructs her past self and brings the garden office back to life so she can pursue her creative dreams until Rob Templeton needs a place to stay and seems to be a kindred spirit. Supported by friends Gina and Suzy, Tess steps out of her comfort zone into a new life that could bring her the happiness, answers, and second chances she has always needed if she’s willing to take the risk. With great characters and a charming setting, readers will love the cozy and heartwarming vibes of this new novel and series. The characters are definitely the stars of the book, and their relationships with each other really bring the larger story to life. Entertaining, heartwarming, and enjoyable, readers will love this book’s messages about hope, friendship, and second chances, and the characters’ growth over the novel is entertaining, rewarding, and fascinating.

I absolutely adore this authors books and was excited to discover this was the first book in what was to be a new series. This was a heartwarming and uplifting read with some fabulous and charming character and also has just the right amount of humour involved.

A lovely story that gives hope that everyone can have a new beginning and second chances in their life.

I can’t wait for another visit to this idyllic and beautiful setting.

An enjoyable read, i especially liked that the main characters were older. It took me longer to read than usual but that was due to my own reading slump! Def recommend if you like cosy, feel good reads that have a MC going through big life changes and learning how to be her own person again.

After thirty years, Tess feels left behind
Her husband’s left her for another, assuming she wouldn’t mind!
With Barney, their beagle, she now needs to find a way
To help herself move forward, getting by from day to day.

Friends prove supportive as her life falls apart
And neighbours become friends, helping her fresh start.
New opportunities, new friendships and more
With family around giving her time to explore.

A delightful read that helps to show
Sometimes change is for the best, you know.
But whatever happens keep looking for chances
And give opportunities for potential romances!

For my copy of this book I say a big thank you
As I share with you this, my honest review.

Welcome to Lower Leaping, where fresh starts bloom and second chances come when you least expect them. Tess Alexander thought she had it all, her dream cottage, her beloved husband, and plans for a peaceful retirement. But when life takes an unexpected turn, Tess is left picking up the pieces with only her loyal Beagle Barney by her side. As she begins to rediscover old passions and renovate her garden retreat, a surprising new houseguest, Rob Templeton, arrives and upends her carefully laid plans. With the help of lifelong friends and the charm of village life, Tess must learn to open her heart again and believe that the best chapters may still be

Tess and Charles live in the gorgeous Cotswolds in a beautiful home looking forward to making plans for their retirement and the return of their daughter Hannah who is travelling around Australia. When all happiness is lost when Charles announces he is leaving Tess and moving in with his new girlfriend who is a fair few years younger than him - around the same age as their daughter to be precise! As you would expect Tess is heartbroken but tries to look on the bright side that she may now be able to get back to doing things she loves such as crafting, baking, walks with the dog Barney and generally being her own person.
All things seem to be improving for Tess especially when she unexpectedly takes on a lodger who has also fallen on tough times so she offers him her annexe/office at the bottom of the garden as a test run before she plans to use it for an air b&b in the following year.
Charles appears unannounced and none to happy about a strange man living in ‘his’ office and makes it plain that he doesn’t want him there, but Tess informs him that he is staying and Charles can’t do anything!

Such a beautiful story of second chances and new beginnings even when things seem bad.

This is my first book I’ve read by Jill Steeples and I have to say it definitely is a feel good book and a perfect form of escapism. The book is about Tess Alexander who very unexpectedly becomes ditched by her husband Charles of over 30yrs for a younger woman. Obviously Tess is devastated. Tess has a new lease of life in her home Hollyhocks Cottage which is her sanctuary and this story is a perfect form of escapism with a warm feel good feeling. The book flows perfectly from beginning to end and if you want a book that covers starting over, friendships and family this book covers it all beautifully

Always love a good Jill Steeples book and this one did not disappoint and I truly immersed myself in the pages of this book. The first book in a new series this had all the warmth and cosiness with great characters and a lovely setting. I loved Tess Alexander and the way she turned bad luck into good luck and how new friendships formed and second chances popped up where you least expect it.

And so after such a wonderful read I am looking forward to reading the next book in this cosy, heart-warming new series. Bring it on.

Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

After Tess Alexander's husband leaves her for a younger model, she finds herself alone at her beloved Hollyhocks Cottage, yet this could easily turn out to be the best thing which could ever happen to her; if she has the courage to see things through. Deciding to help a man she meets in a coffee shop who is homeless, yet also a good man who simply made a bad decision, she finds this to be the catalyst to turn into the wonderful person who was always hiding within, too used to being at her husband's beck and call. With the help of her good, good friends, Tess becomes more adventurous, even seeing the positives when her daughter comes back, much more the person than she was when she began travelling.
This is the first Jill Steeples book I've read in a while and wow, have I been missing out. Mind you, this means I've a happy reading spell in front of me!
Wonderful read and I heartily recommend it to one and all!

Tess's cottage sounds amazing. Love the way it's brought to life in this and how it's a haven, not just for Tess, but for Rob and Hannah too.

Tess's new start is a bumpy one and I can understand and appreciate how overwhelming it might feel. I think most in long term relationships would feel uneasy if faced with being alone. However, Tess seems to find the energy and fight that she needs to take control of her life. She might have had some difficult days but she's handled everything with grace.
