Although I appreciated the book it sort of felt like many of the ideas discussed were common sense. The examples of Costco parking spaces and activities for kids weren’t something that I would value as luck but to each their own. Maybe I was hoping for different examples to be discussed that I was underwhelmed by the suggestions made. It sort of felt like it was the author’s family that has the true luck. The author seems like a great dad that goes above and beyond for the happiness of his wife and kids. 3.5 stars

Judd Kessler's Lucky by Design is an exceptional book. The book claims to help readers decode the rules governing the "competitive markets" that shape our life decisions like securing a coveted restaurant reservation, gaining admission to a prestigious preschool, dating or even receiving a life-saving organ donation.
In this book you will find strategies like "multi-listing", "settle for silver" , discovering secondary markets and methods to rectify situations where you may not even know the race had begun!
This book is also a great resource if you are in a position of power and want to ensure a "contest" that is fair, equal and equitable, for example a recruiting manager, dividing scarce resources, shift allocations, etc.
Read the book to learn all the various strategies and set yourself for success!
