Thank you to NetGalley and Co. for the ALC of this. I went in blind, and I've never read anything by this author before. It's categorized as horror, which it is, but it isn't. It has some horror elements, some mysterious thriller parts, and quite a bit of supernatural bits thrown in.

Having said that, I enjoyed this one quite a bit. There were several characters, and watching the complex ways they were woven together was interesting, yet well done. The story had a lot of depth and held my attention throughout the entire audiobook. I will be reading more from this author, indeed.

I actually really enjoyed Psychosis Diagnosis and the full cast of narrators made for an interesting fast paced and at times really creepy read/listen. The only thing that held me back in regards to rating was that at times it was a bit confusing for me, also despite the content it has a real YA feel to it, both in the writing and the storytelling. It’s not a bad thing by any means and it could just be that it’s not my usual genre.

The story was really a mix of a split timelines, family secrets, voodoo, shape shifters the occult and a cult. If that’s your thing u think you’ll love it.

I read sixty four percent of the book until I marking it as DNF. It got difficult to get through, finding some things hard to process and trying to remember which character is who.
Although it's marked as horror, It wasn't scary for me, the magic in it somehow made it less so. It had more of it than I had expected, which was another main reason why I stopped.

Indie was a character that I loved the second she was introduced, her openness is something that alot of characters out there lack. She's also very beautiful on the cover, which was the first thing that got my attention for this book.
Another thing was the fact that it's a horror, thriller. Like I've mentioned, it wasn't particularly scary or creepy for me, but I did like the thriller side of the story and some of the twists left me wide eyed.

Dark, gripping, and utterly unforgettable. Psychosis Diagnosis by Nikki Minty is a chilling psychological thriller that dives headfirst into trauma, truth, and the terrifying power of manipulation.

We follow Monroe Morgan, a teen desperate to escape his painful upbringing in rural Australia—but his plans unravel when his neighbor, Indi, begs for help to flee an oppressive cult. What begins as an act of courage spirals into a nightmare: Monroe ends up institutionalized, accused of hallucinating Indi’s existence. But what if she was real? What if the truth is far more dangerous than anyone realizes?

This story had me flipping pages late into the night. The suspense is relentless, the emotional stakes are raw, and the twists are jaw-dropping. Nikki Minty masterfully explores the fine line between madness and reality, with a haunting cult mystery at its core.
If you’re into thrillers that blend psychological depth with real-world grit and shocking revelations, Psychosis Diagnosis is a must-read.

Thank you Nikki Minty, BooksGoSocial Audio, and Netgalley for the advanced copy!

This book offers an intriguing mix of psychological drama and cult mystery. The premise is strong— Monroe's struggle to uncover the truth after a psychosis diagnosis keeps you guessing. Some parts feel a bit drawn out, and the line between reality and delusion can be confusing at times, but the story has heart and a few good twists. A decent read for fans of dark thrillers, though it doesn't quite hit all the marks.

Although Psychosis Diagnosis is categorized under general fiction, horror, mystery, and thriller, I would personally place it more firmly within general fiction and mystery. While it explores dark themes, it lacks the intensity typically associated with horror or high-stakes thrillers. Overall, it’s a solid read for those who enjoy character-driven, small-town mysteries with psychological undertones.

The audiobook provided was well read.

Thankyou NetGalley, Nikki Minty & all those involved in providing me an ARC copy of psychosis diagnosis.

Whew! This was a full on horror story, mixed in with mystery and psychological thriller vibes! I was able to read and listen to the audiobook at the same time, which I absolutely loved! The narrators were amazing and really brought this story to life! This book was both creepy and terrifying. The name and cover of this book is what ultimately led me to want to read this and I am really glad I did! It is a medium paced read, has diverse characters and has vivid descriptions. I had no idea what was going to happen next, because this story is full of twists and turns you don’t see coming! Be sure to read the content warnings! Overall, I give this a 4 out of 5 stars rating!

Chilling, surprising and compelling!!! Just a few thoughts I had while reading this book. It kept me enthralled until the end.
I really felt for Monroe throughout the whole story. His sense of not having control all his life… I actually felt anger towards Enzo many times.

A creepy church where your soul checks in but never checks out.

This is a chilling paranormal thriller set in, Australia, where we meet teen, Monroe Morgan, living with his drug addicted mother. Before Monroe has the chance to leave home upon turning eighteen, things take a drastic turn when his neighbor, Indi, has appeared at his doorstep, battered and scared. Monroe plans to take Indi with him to protect her but has a confrontation with Indi’s father, where Monroe is ultimately removed to a year-long stay in a hospital for drug-induced psychosis. Upon his release and determination to find Indi, Monroe soon uncovers dark secrets and finds himself in the middle of a cult conspiracy. Where is Indi, who can you believe, and what can you believe?

This is a first read for me by this author. Her storytelling with the creepy atmosphere, creepy characters, and the twists and turns made for a decent read. Touching upon cults, ghosts, witchcraft, and secrets

Thank you for the advanced copy of this audiobook!

I love the premise, and I appreciate all the twists and turns this book took. I did find it difficult, however, to get invested in the book and characters. I both enjoyed the voices of the narrators, and also was sometimes distracted by the switching and dramatization. I would be interested to experience this in text form.

Monroe Morgan was raised by a drug addicted mother and never knew who his father was. He is determined to escape the life he grew up with and has gotten a job away from his small Australian town as soon as he turns 18. But a month before he is set to leave, his life takes a turn when his neighbor Indi shows up at his door battered and scared for her life. Her family is part of a cult called The Church of Salvation and she is being forced to marry the pastor against her will. Monroe is worried for Indi's safety and quickly plans to take her with him when he leaves.

On the morning of their escape, Monroe is woken by Indi's screams from next door. He rushes to the house and has a violent confrontation with Indi's father, resulting in Monroe's arrest. The neighbor insists he doesn't have a daughter and a doctor declares that Monroe has had drug-induced psychosis and he has imagined Indi, sending Monroe away for a year stay in Rozelle Hospital. Upon his release, Monroe returns to the small town determined to find out what happened to Indi and prove she is real. He never expected the dark web of secrets he would soon find out.

I love a full cast audiobook and this one did it right with all the characters having a speaker rather than a narrator per chapter. The book did take me a little bit to get into it and to figure out who the characters were, but the story was intriguing and hooked me by about 30% into it. More mild on the horror aspect but I liked the dark magic storyline and the generations of characters all connecting.

I was really intrigued by the concept here but I've got to be honest - I could not get past the narration.. I saw that other listeners really enjoyed the narrative style, with a series of actors performing as the characters and one actor voicing the writing around the dialogue. For me, it was extremely distracting and the melodramatic nature of some of the voices was so over the top that I just could not focus enough on the story to enjoy it. I would try reading this one as a book, but for an audio this one did not do it for me at...

Nikki Minty has flawlessly wrote "Psychosis Diagnosis" with multiple point of views and flashbacks from the 70s to the 90s. I would describe this a paranormal thriller suspense with a splash of murder mystery. There is a strong male villain that causes another character to decide good vs. evil. And shows the consequences when the chosen the path was the darkness. The story unfolds reveals generational trauma that was caused by the main male villain. This book contains triggers and instances of ritualistic murder of woman and child, cult, ritualistic witchcraft, possession, substance abuse, murder, spirits, and violence. Nikki brings aspects of New Orleans and Australia in the story so effortlessly. As well as had me rooting for a character that decided to choose the wrong path, as long as the young hero's of the story. If you wanted to root for the voodoo man of princess and the frog, and love a paranormal murder mystery story about a boy that gets framed by his own fathers doing and find out how he overcomes, then defiantly read or listen to this book!! I couldn't stop listening to the audio book version. I finished it within a day! I rated this book a 5 star because it held my curiosity and attention, great character development, story flowed and unfolded beautifully, no plot holes i could determine, and the detail all the way down to the very last chapter was amazing!

A psychological thriller that will have you questioning who and what to believe. Reading this book was like piecing a jigsaw puzzle together. The author gives you a little truth at a time until at the end everything falls into place seamlessly. If you like darker themes like voodoo spells, soul sucking cult leaders, dark magic and ghosts then you’ll probably enjoy this book.

Psychosis Diagnosis gives The Skeleton Key vibes, kinda the same concept but with its own creative storyline. It’s unlike anything I have read so far.

The audiobook production was very well done. It came with a full cast recorded in duet narration. The narrators did a great job.

Not only was Psychosis Diagnosis beautifully written, but when it comes to the audiobook it was magically performed. The narrators sounded so real and their emotions were so raw, that they completely captivated me from beginning to end. They were expressive and convincing. The man who read Enzo's part had a magnificent voice. It was gritty, powerful, and captured the Southern American accent perfectly.
I loved Monroe's voice too. It sounded appropriate for that of a teenager/young man.
The characters felt real and the way Nikki Minty brought all of their storylines together was seamless and made for a perfect conclusion.

If you are looking for a haunting story filled with witchcraft, twisted characters, and ghosts, then I highly recommend giving this title a try.

"Psychosis Diagnosis" by Nikki Minty lands squarely in the realm of "average but with potential" as an audiobook. While the core of the story itself held my interest and offered a compelling glimpse into its subject matter, the narration unfortunately didn't quite elevate the experience. It wasn't bad enough to make me stop listening, but it lacked the nuance and engagement that could have truly brought the story to life.

However, despite the less-than-stellar narration, Nikki Minty's storytelling shines through. The narrative is insightful and thought-provoking, offering a perspective that kept me engaged and curious about where things were headed.

Ultimately, if you're primarily focused on the content and are less sensitive to narration styles, "Psychosis Diagnosis" might still be worth a listen for it's strong narrative. However, those who highly value compelling audiobook performances might find themselves wishing for a different voice to guide them through this otherwise worthwhile story.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC Audiobook.
