Zanaiah's story pitches are always promising and refreshingly original. However, the execution often lacks the spark needed to truly stay with the reader. The characters feel one-dimensional and show little growth, making it difficult to connect with them. Some parts of the story are overly drawn out, while others feel rushed, disrupting the overall flow. That said, it still makes for a pleasant one-time read.

I’ll begin by saying this was a cute story, but there were times when it seemed unrealistic. There was a lot going on for a group of ten year olds. From some of the verbiage to the unsupervised limo rides and meet ups at the ice cream parlor, I found myself going back to verify that they were indeed fifth graders.
There were teachable moments in this story that are commendable. Bullying, friendship, and acts of service are very relatable to children of any age. I applaud the authors for addressing these issues and pray that someone finds them helpful. Overall, I would recommend this book to older students.
