This book had a compelling concept that definitely caught my attention, and while I enjoyed it overall, the pacing did lag in parts. There were moments where I had to refocus to stay engaged, but the story still delivered enough intrigue to keep me going. If you’re into eerie thrillers with paranormal and occult elements, this one’s worth a try.

The audiobook was a standout — the full cast performance added so much depth and made the experience feel incredibly immersive

Thank you Netgalley, Nikki Minty for the opportunity to read this book. This was a nonstop roller-coaster of who's side are we on and who is telling the whole truth. In this book we follow Monroe through his addiction and blackouts to the other side where blackouts still exist. They also discuss cults and the different kind of holds they have on members and outsiders. This book keeps you on your toes and I could barely put it down. The twists and turns these characters take make you want to travel with them and at times even take a step back from them.

Well then, I don’t know what I thought to expect on this book, but wow!

I saw this book on NetGalley and was taken by the cover! Then read the description then immediately requested. I have never read anything by this author, but now I’m going to have to check out more of her work!!

Talk about a psychological roller coaster!! These are the books I live for… and all my wtf moments carried all the way until the end!! The very end! There’s a little bit of dark magic, a little bit of cult, a lot of bit of thriller and creepy to boot.

I enjoyed this one a lot.

Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the free copies.

The narration is was great and I enjoyed the full cast!

I absolutely LOVED this book! All of the major jaw dropping plot twists really kicked into high gear around the midway point, and just kept getting bigger and better with every passing page. I really need more people to get on this one so I can obsess over it with someone other than myself. 10/10 recommend!!!

Thank you Netgalley, Nikki Minty and BooksGoSocial for the audio Arc of Psychosis Diagnosis.
Narrated by Ari Maza Long, Jodie Harris, James Fouhey, Tamblyn Lord, Karen Chilton

The premise of this book really fascinated me and I was pleasantly surprised with this book! Psychosis Diagnosis is a well written mystery with some horror elements which I felt were well balanced. Told from a multi POVs and well marked timeline. We get to piece together what happed to Monroe who is trying to turn his life around. after being raised by a drug dependant Mother, And who, after trying to protect his next door neighbour Indi against her father, Gets told that Indi doesn't exist and spends time in Rozelle Hospital for drug-induced psychosis. As the story unfolds, we get. to see that all is not what it seems.

This narrative tackles some heavy subjects like mental health in a tactful way and mixed in with the horrors of a cult, conspiracies, trauma, drugs and addiction. Which made for a very immersive read, especially with the multi narration, who did an excellent job. Looking forward to reading more of Nikki Minty's books

We follow Monroe, who’s just trying to survive life with his drug-addicted mom in a small town in Australia. He’s got a plan to finally leave and start over, but then Indi, his terrified neighbor, shows up covered in bruises, saying she’s being forced to marry some creepy cult leader. Monroe tries to help her escape… but things go sideways fast. He ends up in a psychiatric hospital for a year after a violent fight with her dad, and suddenly everyone is telling him Indi never existed.
Now out, Monroe’s on a mission to prove she’s real and figure out what the hell happened—and it only gets weirder (and darker) from there.
I liked how this book mixed cult horror, mental health themes, murder mystery, and just the right dash of “wait, is this real?” to keep me turning pages. You’re constantly questioning what’s real, who to trust, and what Monroe’s role in all of it really is. The cult aspect was especially eerie, with its manipulation, control, and how far people will go to bury the truth.

It’s definitely unsettling in spots and touches on a lot of serious stuff, but it still managed to be an enjoyable, fast-paced read.

This book did not have an opening chapter that made me want to continue reading. I thought the premise sounded intriguing but it made it to my DNF pile quickly.

Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the ARC!

This was quite the ride! I picked it up because the cover was just so wonderfully dark, I had to pick it up! The book was eerie and creepy, with elements that made it a bit terrifying at times. The pacing of the story isn't too slow or too fast, though maybe a bit of cutoff here and there could have been needed. The descriptions of everything were so vivid and enticing to keep the reader fully immersed! I love how the book doesn't use gore as it element of creepiness, but Moreso uses the atmosphere to make one unnerved.

4.5 stars

I really enjoyed this book and the characters in it were really interesting. I felt like there was depth and nuance to them.

Some parts of the plot were a bit obvious and the climax felt a little rushed, but that didn’t take away from the story.

I sympathized for Monroe so much. He was dealt such a rough hand in life. I loved his POVs.

This does jump POVs and time a little bit, but the chapter always tells you who it is and when. I liked seeing how things from the past brought about things in present day.

Okay so—this book was *definitely* unlike anything I’ve read before! I don’t usually dive into paranormal horror, so I went in with absolutely no expectations… but wow, I had *so much fun* with it. The whole dark magic vibe? Creepy, mysterious, and somehow totally addicting. It was fresh and thrilling in a way that kept me flipping through the pages, curious to see what would happen next.

All of the characters had their own intrigue, and the eerie atmosphere was something I didn’t know I’d enjoy this much. Honestly, I *adore* how this book pushed me out of my comfort zone—it was such a pleasant surprise!

That said, I do wish it had been just a little bit shorter. At times it felt like it dragged a little, and trimming down some of the pages could’ve made it tighter and even more impactful. But hey, since this was my first taste of the genre, I won’t complain too much—it still ended up being a great experience overall.

So if you’re like me and haven’t really explored paranormal horror yet, maybe give this one a shot. It might just pull you in and leave you wanting more. I’m honestly excited to check out more books like this now!

Psychosis Diagnosis by Nikki Minty and narrated by Jodie Harris, Karen Chilton, James Fouhey, Ari Maza Long and Tamblyn Lord was a book I would not usually read or listen to, but the cover caught my eye and I am so glad it did. This cover is beautiful and so eye catching. So sit back and open your kindle or audio book. . . . . . . . . . . .

This audiobook was a full on horror story and I loved it! especially as I was able to read and listen to the audiobook at the same time, which was brilliant! Psychosis Diagnosis was a very dark and twisted story and it had me questioning “who can I trust?" When I do that I know it will be an excellent book and it sure was!

Let the story begin. . . . "Welcome to The Church of Salvation, where your soul checks in but never checks out."

Psychosis Diagnosis was a very chilling psychological thriller / horror and is set in Coraki, Australia. Monroe Morgan was raised by his drug-addicted mother is so determined to escape a life steeped in misery. With dreams of a better future, he has secured a job at his brother-in-law’s pub in Coffs Harbour and is set to start as soon as he turns eighteen. Whatever happens, he will make it happen........

However, a month before his departure, Monroe’s life takes a drastic turn; when his neighbour, Indi, appears at his doorstep, battered and scared for her life. She reveals harrowing details about her upbringing in The Church of Salvation and declares that she is being forced to marry the church’s pastor against her will. Concerned for Indi’s safety, Monroe plans to take her with him when he leaves. But on the morning of their escape, he is jolted awake by blood-curdling screams coming from next door. A violent confrontation with Indi’s father ensues, resulting in Monroe’s arrest and a year-long stay in Rozelle Hospital for drug-induced psychosis. In a cruel twist of fate, Indi’s father denies her existence, and the doctors and authorities dismiss her as a figment of Monroe’s imagination.

WoW!!! this book is so good I could not put it down. All the narrators were superb.

I highly recommend this book/ audiobook.

Big Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial Audio for my audiobook and ebook. x

“Welcome to The Church of Salvation, where your soul checks in but never checks out.”

The premise of this book is very interesting and I enjoyed it overall. However, I did find it a bit sluggish at times and had to bring myself back to the story. It was still enjoyable and any lovers of paranormal thrillers, horror, and the occult will probably like it.

I also listened to the audiobook and the narration was very good ! There was a full cast narration and it all felt so immersive.

Thank you to the publisher, author, and Netgalley for my review digital and audio copy.

This story is a dark, twisty paranormal mystery that seeks to uncover the past of a cult, the supernatural ties, and a bit of a murder mystery. Overall, I found this book to be quite enjoyable and a quick, fun read. I did switch to the audiobook about half way through after reading reviews about how good it was, and I have to agree. The full cast narration really added to the story and made for a great time.

There were many POV’s in this story, and truthfully, I didn’t love all of them/feel they were all necessary but do appreciate how they all wove together and uncovered bits and pieces of the story. There’s also an alternating timeline, which I don’t always love, as was the case in this book as well. I found the 1830’s timeline a bit more intriguing in this one. But overall, I found this book to be a decent read and recommend picking it up if you like paranormal stories with elements of dark magic and cults.

Psychosis Diagnosis by Nikki Minty is a gripping psychological thriller with a sharp supernatural edge. Centered on a teen’s desperate quest to uncover the truth about a missing girl and a sinister cult, the story balances emotional intensity with fast-paced suspense. A dark, twisty ride that keeps you questioning reality until the end.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for this advanced reader's copy and the opportunity to this early. Review has been posted on Waterstones and Goodreads.

I found that this story really didn’t flow well, and slightly over dramatic at times.
Overall was a very enjoyable read

(4.5) This book follows multiple POVs in two main timelines and locations in two countries, but it does it all seamlessly. It starts out from the POV of 17-year old Monroe, who was raised by a drug-addicted mother and is planning to move out as soon as he turns 18. Shortly before, however, he meets a girl named Indi, around his age, who complains of an abusive father and who wants to escape the religious cult her family belongs to. They plan to run away together, but the morning they are supposed to leave together, Monroe can't find Indi and her father denies her very existence! Monroe attacks her father and is then sent to a psychiatric ward with a psychosis diagnosis. When he finally gets out a year later, he goes looking for Indi to find out what became of her, but it is not as straightforward a quest as it seems. A variety of characters tell the story, each revealing parts of the story or the lies they believe, leaving the reader guessing who has the right pieces of the puzzle and how they fit together.

I read this book primarily as an audiobook because the narration was just SO GOOD and engaging!! There was a large cast of FIVE narrators to cover female and male characters and a variety of accents that added so much to the story! I rarely have a preference between audio and physical reading, but in this case, I have to recommend the audio! The voice actors even screamed or moaned when it was written in the description, which really added to the atmosphere and made the story come alive. The only things I could critique were that the child's voice didn't sound like a child (but he only had a few lines) and in one scene I couldn't differentiate between Enzo's and Jeremiah's voices. Other than that, it was better than I could have imagined! 5/5 narration!

I'm not sure if this is due to the stellar narration or the engaging writing, but I couldn't believe how quickly the nearly-12 hours flew by! I need more books like this!

Themes: family, deception, (dark) magic, supernatural, religious cult, psychosis, power, trust, secrets

Style (0.75): The style of writing was concise and clear in a way that I think is appropriate for the genre while still evoking the right level of mystery and confusion (about the plot, not the writing). It was also written from multiple POVs, but it didn't annoy me, as can often happen with multiple POVs. They all added significant substance to the plot. Though it tells the story very clearly, it could have used some of that flowery prose I love to describe some of the imagery.

Plot (0.75): It was a well-paced mystery/thriller with some horror and supernatural elements that I loved. I love a good psychological thriller with a potentially unreliable narrator that plays with my mind and keeps me guessing. The plot twists weren't too surprising, but I still enjoyed them! The ending also felt very tidy and complete.

Atmosphere/Setting (1): In the end, I listened to the audiobook and the variety of narrators and accents really added to the atmosphere immensely! That is not to say that the atmosphere wasn't already well described in the prose. Despite jumping timelines, POVs, and locations, everything felt well-connected and I could easily separate them in my mind's eye.

Characters (1): I liked the variety of characters in this book. We were never sure who to trust, who was telling the truth, or who knew the whole truth. In reality, (I think) all the characters knew only parts of the truth and it was fun to see them all try to put the pieces together.

Enjoyment (1): I fully enjoyed this book! It was a little different from what I normally read, but I was very glad for the change!

This was a wild ride! It took me a little bit to get into the story since there was a lot of background information at the start but once the pieces started coming together I was hooked! I appreciated all the various accents and switching of POVs to keep me entertained.

There were so many twists and turns I was always guessing what was next and who the true villains were. As someone who is not religious, the way the cult members blindly followed Jeremiah was how I imagine a lot of religious people are. It brought a real element to the story and I kept rolling my eyes at the stupidity of the group members at times. I wanted to feel so bad for Enzo and really hoped that he had a redemption arc but he was just as corrupt as Jeremiah in the end.

Buckle up, buttercup, because Nikki Minty's "Psychosis Diagnosis" just blew my mind! Seriously, WHAT. DID. I. JUST. READ?! This book is a glorious train wreck of spooky, mind-bending twists that had me muttering "WTF?" with every turn of the page.
Minty masterfully throws you headfirst into a psychological thriller that doesn't let up until the very last, shocking sentence. The way she weaves between characters and timelines could have been a confusing mess, but instead, it adds a delicious layer of intrigue that kept me utterly hooked. In fact, it made me love this book even more!
It's rare for a book to genuinely surprise me, but "Psychosis Diagnosis" kept its secrets locked tight. I didn't see that ending coming at all. If your literary cravings lean towards psychological thrills, a dash of dark magic, and maybe even a ghostly whisper or two, then stop what you're doing and add this to your TBR immediately. Trust me on this one. Five stars? Absolutely! Mark your calendars, thriller fiends – "Psychosis Diagnosis" drops on May 13, 2025, and you do NOT want to miss it!

This book was hauntingly deceptive with its story. It drew you in slowly by gradually introducing new characters and new points of view, ultimately culminating in a multi-decade, multi-continental conspiracy by a devious individual to steal the lives of numerous souls. It was fascinating to have it all come together, such an incredibly enjoyable book.

The characters were interesting and full of depth and life, the depictions of their lives were vivid and at times extremely bleak. You could feel the pain and abject defeat from them, especially Monroe and Enzo. The pacing of the story was done beautifully, setting the current scene, then slowly adding in details chapter after chapter, character after character, until you obtained a full picture of what was happening, why, and how. Terrific writing, truly a dark, mysterious, and enjoyable story.
