Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for this advanced reader's copy and the opportunity to this early. Review has been posted on Waterstones and Goodreads.
I found that this story really didn’t flow well, and slightly over dramatic at times.
Overall was a very enjoyable read

(4.5) This book follows multiple POVs in two main timelines and locations in two countries, but it does it all seamlessly. It starts out from the POV of 17-year old Monroe, who was raised by a drug-addicted mother and is planning to move out as soon as he turns 18. Shortly before, however, he meets a girl named Indi, around his age, who complains of an abusive father and who wants to escape the religious cult her family belongs to. They plan to run away together, but the morning they are supposed to leave together, Monroe can't find Indi and her father denies her very existence! Monroe attacks her father and is then sent to a psychiatric ward with a psychosis diagnosis. When he finally gets out a year later, he goes looking for Indi to find out what became of her, but it is not as straightforward a quest as it seems. A variety of characters tell the story, each revealing parts of the story or the lies they believe, leaving the reader guessing who has the right pieces of the puzzle and how they fit together.
I read this book primarily as an audiobook because the narration was just SO GOOD and engaging!! There was a large cast of FIVE narrators to cover female and male characters and a variety of accents that added so much to the story! I rarely have a preference between audio and physical reading, but in this case, I have to recommend the audio! The voice actors even screamed or moaned when it was written in the description, which really added to the atmosphere and made the story come alive. The only things I could critique were that the child's voice didn't sound like a child (but he only had a few lines) and in one scene I couldn't differentiate between Enzo's and Jeremiah's voices. Other than that, it was better than I could have imagined! 5/5 narration!
I'm not sure if this is due to the stellar narration or the engaging writing, but I couldn't believe how quickly the nearly-12 hours flew by! I need more books like this!
Thank you BooksGoSocial and Nikki Minty for allowing me to access an ARC and ALC via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review!
Themes: family, deception, (dark) magic, supernatural, religious cult, psychosis, power, trust, secrets
Style (0.75): The style of writing was concise and clear in a way that I think is appropriate for the genre while still evoking the right level of mystery and confusion (about the plot, not the writing). It was also written from multiple POVs, but it didn't annoy me, as can often happen with multiple POVs. They all added significant substance to the plot. Though it tells the story very clearly, it could have used some of that flowery prose I love to describe some of the imagery.
Plot (0.75): It was a well-paced mystery/thriller with some horror and supernatural elements that I loved. I love a good psychological thriller with a potentially unreliable narrator that plays with my mind and keeps me guessing. The plot twists weren't too surprising, but I still enjoyed them! The ending also felt very tidy and complete.
Atmosphere/Setting (1): In the end, I listened to the audiobook and the variety of narrators and accents really added to the atmosphere immensely! That is not to say that the atmosphere wasn't already well described in the prose. Despite jumping timelines, POVs, and locations, everything felt well-connected and I could easily separate them in my mind's eye.
Characters (1): I liked the variety of characters in this book. We were never sure who to trust, who was telling the truth, or who knew the whole truth. In reality, (I think) all the characters knew only parts of the truth and it was fun to see them all try to put the pieces together.
Enjoyment (1): I fully enjoyed this book! It was a little different from what I normally read, but I was very glad for the change!

This was a wild ride! It took me a little bit to get into the story since there was a lot of background information at the start but once the pieces started coming together I was hooked! I appreciated all the various accents and switching of POVs to keep me entertained.
There were so many twists and turns I was always guessing what was next and who the true villains were. As someone who is not religious, the way the cult members blindly followed Jeremiah was how I imagine a lot of religious people are. It brought a real element to the story and I kept rolling my eyes at the stupidity of the group members at times. I wanted to feel so bad for Enzo and really hoped that he had a redemption arc but he was just as corrupt as Jeremiah in the end.

Buckle up, buttercup, because Nikki Minty's "Psychosis Diagnosis" just blew my mind! Seriously, WHAT. DID. I. JUST. READ?! This book is a glorious train wreck of spooky, mind-bending twists that had me muttering "WTF?" with every turn of the page.
Minty masterfully throws you headfirst into a psychological thriller that doesn't let up until the very last, shocking sentence. The way she weaves between characters and timelines could have been a confusing mess, but instead, it adds a delicious layer of intrigue that kept me utterly hooked. In fact, it made me love this book even more!
It's rare for a book to genuinely surprise me, but "Psychosis Diagnosis" kept its secrets locked tight. I didn't see that ending coming at all. If your literary cravings lean towards psychological thrills, a dash of dark magic, and maybe even a ghostly whisper or two, then stop what you're doing and add this to your TBR immediately. Trust me on this one. Five stars? Absolutely! Mark your calendars, thriller fiends – "Psychosis Diagnosis" drops on May 13, 2025, and you do NOT want to miss it!

+++I received a free copy of this eARC in exchange for my honest review+++

This book was hauntingly deceptive with its story. It drew you in slowly by gradually introducing new characters and new points of view, ultimately culminating in a multi-decade, multi-continental conspiracy by a devious individual to steal the lives of numerous souls. It was fascinating to have it all come together, such an incredibly enjoyable book.
The characters were interesting and full of depth and life, the depictions of their lives were vivid and at times extremely bleak. You could feel the pain and abject defeat from them, especially Monroe and Enzo. The pacing of the story was done beautifully, setting the current scene, then slowly adding in details chapter after chapter, character after character, until you obtained a full picture of what was happening, why, and how. Terrific writing, truly a dark, mysterious, and enjoyable story.

I did really enjoy this one. I was hooked from the beginning and kept trying to figure out if the main character was actually loosing his mind or if what was happening was real...which I kind of think was the point. I had to keep flipping pages to figure things out ans get to the end. If you're looking for a psychological thrillers, I highly recommend.

Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for this e-arc and for an honest review.
I thought this was pretty decent for a YA horror/thriller! I really enjoyed the plot twists and the main character's internal monologue. It was a bit overdramatic here and there, but sometimes it makes sense based on the concept. Overall, a pretty good read!

Thank you to Netgalley and Nikki Minty for the ARC digital copy for reviewing.
The book had some really great
supernatural cult elements. It started a bit slow and I thought it might be an average stereotypical ghost mystery. But as it went along, the mystery definitely evolved into a really scary cult story. There are also undertones of racism and distrust of the system from Monroe.
I loved adding Shaina's POV but the few chapters from Owen's POV were a bit weird. I just wish there was more of his POV even though he wasn't likeable. That would make it feel more cohesive instead of just a random chapter thrown in because there wasn't another way to tell certain plot lines. Also, I wish we had seen more of Elias and the grandmother because they were such interesting characters.
I did keep getting confused when they mentioned the winter solstice because it was June so I had to keep reminding myself that they were in Australia so keep that in mind. Overall though the story was really great and had an interesting twist on a cult story.

Thank you NetGalley for the ebook arc, but the story does seem a little bit all of er the place and hard to follow at times. While the story synopsis sound interesting the execution just wasn’t for me. I’m 36% into the book and the story is just confusing to me.

Overall 3.75 stars.
Premise: A troubled young man who grows in unfortunate circumstances with a drug addict as a mother finds himself wanting to help his next door neighbour, a young girl who has been repeatedly abused by her father. He comes to find out that her family is involved with a cult that no one else believes to exist. Everything comes to a head when he realises no one believes his story or that the abused young girl exists.
This is a supernatural thriller that explores the themes of black magic and satanic cults. The story is said from points of view of different characters from two different timelines; this gives readers a sense of understanding a global story with multiple facets to each character and helps readers link up the timeline. Although I personally found the use of multiple POVs in this story quite a clever and easy to read way of understanding the whole picture that spans over several years; some readers may feel this to be quite jarring.
The characters were well written with several of them being likeable however certain aspects of relationships between characters were not well explored and felt quite rushed.
Overall it was a predictable and yet intriguing thriller.

This book I immersive read with the audio and it made the reading experience 10 times better I believe. This book is acquired taste with the “witch craft” aspect of it I believe it is not something a certain type of people would be drawn to but I enjoyed this book and loved the audio as well.

I don't know what I expected, but what I got was so much better than I could have imagined honestly, I don't really have any words for how horrifyingly good this book was. Absolutely everything was chef's kiss. 5 stars doesn't seem enough

I won't lie, the start of this story had me slightly worried about how the characters' , especially the main character's, mental health was going to be handled, but as the story went on and more context was added, the book grew on me more and more. I do not think it was the perfect story and it felt as though some characters might not have acted in the most logical ways or felt slightly like a caricature, but the plot and storytelling were compelling. I will most likely be checking out the other series by Nikki Minty, as I am curious to see how I would find more of her writing.

What a ride this was. This was my debut experience with netgalley for audio 🎧 and wow did I find a great one. This story is Louisiana Creole magic brought to Australia and I had trouble hitting pause to go to sleep. This has several VERY dynamic characters and honestly there’s no telling what will happen next.

Whew! This was a full on horror story, mixed in with mystery and psychological thriller vibes! I was able to read and listen to the audiobook at the same time, which I absolutely loved! The narrators were amazing and really brought this story to life! This book was both creepy and terrifying. The name and cover of this book is what ultimately led me to want to read this and I am really glad I did! It is a medium paced read, has diverse characters and has vivid descriptions. I had no idea what was going to happen next, because this story is full of twists and turns you don’t see coming! Be sure to read the content warnings! Overall, I give this a 4 out of 5 stars rating!
Thank you to NetGalley, author Nikki Minty and narrators Jodie Harris, Karen Chilton, James Fouhey, Ari Maza Long, Tamblyn Lord, and BooksGoSocial for this digital and audio advanced reader’s copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
I think readers of Joe Hill and Nick Roberts would enjoy reading this book!
This book is expected to be published on May 13, 2025! I highly recommend reading this digital/physical book with the audio version!

For starters, I am so in love with this cover art. It is so, so pretty! It was a very twisty read and I was on the edge of my seat literally for a second there. Love this. The premise is so different from other horror I have consumed. I also really liked the multiple POV.

A psychological thriller that will have you questioning who and what to believe. Reading this book was like piecing a jigsaw puzzle together. The author gives you a little truth at a time until at the end everything falls into place seamlessly. If you like darker themes like voodoo spells, soul sucking cult leaders, dark magic and ghosts then you’ll probably enjoy this book.
Psychosis Diagnosis gives The Skeleton Key vibes, kinda the same concept but with its own creative storyline. It’s unlike anything I have read so far.

This is an entertaining, creepy, and twisty novel about ghosts. Well, not JUST ghosts. It keeps you guessing throughout and has some very horrific secrets to uncover as you read.
Morgan is a man with a troubled past. He grew up with a junkie mom and a stream of criminal father figures as he doesn't know who his biological father is. Coming up on his 18th birthday he can move away and stay with his sister and turn his life around. But that'll change when he meets a young woman from next door. She says she's in a cult, is abused by her father, and is set to be forced to marry the cult leader.
Attempting to rescue her one night he assaults the couple he believes are her abusive parents and is convicted but sent to a mental health facility for a year.
When he is released tightly held secrets start to unravel and bizarre things will happen. And, as the narrative progresses, the twisted brutal truths of a cult, ghosts, black magic, and sacrificial murder will weave together in this tense pulse pounding horror ride.
This book doesn't rely on extreme blood or gore. Instead it combines points of view from several characters (even some dead ones) to create a creepy atmosphere. The connections between all of the events and characters is expertly done and the crisp narrative doesn't linger on extensive details, just enough to get back to the plot. It's a welcome relief from some books which take three pages to describe a room!
I found this novel fascinating and engaging. It has so many twists and turns that it leaves you breathless and I highly recommend it.
