This was super adorable and a great way to talk about how we treat pets! My 2.5 yo really liked it, she’s been super big on cats/kitties recently so this was perfect!. The illustrations were very aesthetic and I loved the style- this book is most ideal for ages 2-4 I’d say! Very cute though and definitely worth adding to your shelf!

The rhyming scheme worked well and had a nice beat when reading it aloud. The lack of names and just she pronouns confused me a few times since all three characters fit. I'm unsure of the kittens bit since it took away from *how* a child can gentle play with their pet cat. Muddled messaging.
The illustrations were lovely. Bold, clear shape definition, happy imagery. Perfect for an older toddler. I'd rec the illustrator, easily.

A very sweet and beautifully written and illustrated book. I read this with my 1 year old and he really interacted with the kitty storyline, especially since we have 2 cats at home.

Such a cute story! I’m a big cat fan so of course I absolutely loved this. The illustrations? ADORABLE!!!

I initially enjoyed this book, and liked that the mum taught the kid to leave the cat alone. But then it turned out the cat had given birth and neither of them knew? And then on the last page it says she had another litter and to count the kittens. So this book shows them a cat having two litters. This is surely normalising the breeding of cats and accidental litters since the humans didn't know she was pregnant? I am confused why you would want to teach kids it's cute to have accidental litters, given the current crisis in animal shelters. All my local cat rescues are filled with pregnant cats. Disappointed and I would not buy this for anyone.

This little picture book is quite cute and would be loved by any kids who love cats, especially if they need to learn how to properly interact with those cats. However, I did have issues with the rhyme scheme at points which was inconsistent and sometimes felt forced. As someone who often conducts storytimes, it was a bit of a rough stumble and would be annoying to read aloud. Overall I loved the illustrations, the intent and the general story but felt that improving the rhyme scheme would create a stronger book.

"Chloe and the Cat That Napped" is a delightful children's book that teaches the importance of being gentle with animals. The story is engaging and the illustrations are charming. At the end of the book, there's a QR code that leads to a "busy day survival kit," which is a nice touch for parents and kids. Overall, it's a wonderful read for young children.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to Netgalley and BooksGoSocial for letting us read and enjoy this book.
We love cats so of course we had to grab this one. The story was cute about a tired kitty and letting her nap and to be gentle with her. There’s a surprise at the end that I was not expecting. I really enjoyed it and so did my daughter. We also enjoyed the rhyming.

What a cute book! I so enjoyed reading this one! The illustrations added so much to this adorable story! Perfect for little ones looking to take care of an animal!
Thank you BooksGoSocial for my copy! All opinions are my own!

I really liked the overall message in this book, teaching children how to treat animals respectfully and give them their space. The illustrations were super cute as well. The rhyming scheme didn't match up in a few places which took me out of the cadence and made me stumble over the story in a few places though.

This was a quick and easy read. My children and I love rhyming books, so I know they would enjoy this one! I wasn't entirely sure where this one was headed, as it wasn't clear what was happening to Snickers. Overall, I would recommend it for a kitty-cat-loving kid.

Chloe and the Cat That Napped is an adorable book with simple but eye catching illustrations. Chloe like any other kid wants to play with her cat Snickers. However, Snickers just wants to sleep! At the end of the day, she finds Snickers with a surprise.
Overall, this was a cute story that teaches the readers to give others space but still checking up on them to make sure they’re okay.

This book was a tale of a girl who wanted to play with her cat but needed to respect the fact that the cat didn't want to play with her. I wasn't sure if the message behind the narrative was that we need to respect boundaries when others don't want what we want, respect for animals, or something else. It got a little muddy. The poetry was cute but didn't scan quite right in a lot of areas.
The illustration was an absolute delight. Every photo was adorable, and I just loved the art style. I think this would have been two stars if the art hadn't been so charming.
I have a kiddo who loves to read. I probably won't be purchasing this book, but it was a cute story.

This is a simple, sweet story with adorable illustrations. Chloe wants to play with her cat Snickers, but Snickers isn't interested; she just wants to sleep! At the end of Chloe's adventurous day of play, she goes to find Snickers only to find not one, but four surprises waiting for her.
I really appreciate the main message of being gentle, kind, and aware of your cat's moods, especially as it's aimed at young kiddos. (The cat lover in me is like "GET SNICKERS SPAYED!" but I digress...)
All in all, a very cute book. Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a free eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book encapsulates a handful of helpful things for children to learn! Not only do they learn to be careful and gentle, but this book also teaches children to respect others’ space (even pets!), independent play, and how to listen to their guardian. My baby cousin and I read this together, and she was so engaged with the story and the illustrations! I enjoyed it myself :) A wonderful read for everyone!

Thank you to net galley and the publisher for an advanced copy of "Chloe and the Cat That Napped" by Shea Peterson. All opinions are my own.
This is a very sweet and educational children's book! Love the graphics and imagery.

What a cute book. I enjoyed the style of illustrations and the message behind the book. I felt gentle touch might be introduced a little sooner so maybe having pages be shorter would keep attention more for more little readers but I think the book is still great.

This was a cute book that my daughter enjoyed. It is beautifully illustrated and kept her interest while we read through it. I love the message behind it, of being gentle with our pets (something my daughter still sometimes needs reminding of).
As a parent however, I'm not sure I am on board with the idea of not knowing your cat is pregnant...however, overall the story was short sweet and has a great message. Can't wait to revisit this book with my daughter many times!
Thanks to the author/publisher and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this book with my daughter!

As a substitute teacher I work with all different age groups in both SPED and Gen Ed and I am always on the lookout for fun ways to feel in any time gaps in our day. This book is great for preschool and kindergartners. The rhyming text flowed beautifully and is something both child and adult will be able to enjoy. I wasn’t expecting the storyline to turn in the direction it did so that will surly be something to hold the young reader’s attention. All in all it was a cute story and I’d recommend it.

This was an extremely cute story of a toddler who loves her cat, but can not understand why the cat doesn't like her.
It was fun watching the child do different things and play make believe, while she listens to her mother and gives the cat some space.
The dramatic point in the story made it seem a lot worse than it was. But the happy ending made the story worth it.
All in all I am giving this cute story a 5/5 rating. And highly recommend this book for your little ones library.
