This is an awesome kit with a guide on how to create a book club around the novel, Tell Them You Lied, by Laura Leffler. I've always wanted to add this to my suspense/thriller adult book club unit, but I didn't know how until now. I think this is a great guide in what this book has to offer, and how to adapt it to different readers. I especially loved the bookmarks in this kit, however, I wish there was one side decorated and one side blank on the bookmarks, so that students could use the bookmark to jot down notes while reading. Or better yet, I wish this came with a journal that students could use specifically for this novel while reading. I will definitely be using this in my classroom!
Thanks to NetGalley and We Are Bookish for sharing!

First of all, the content warnings at the beginning were very helpful considering how dark some of the subject matter was.

The author interview was enlightening and answered some questions I had about the book. I enjoyed her discussion of trying to decide if she would situate the book around 9/11 or not. The way the characters’ emotional tension was connected to the nation’s tension at the time turned out to be very effective in the book.

I didn’t read the guide until I had completely finished the book. The discussion questions were a good mix of things I had already thought about myself plus new perspectives and ideas I hadn’t considered. Reflecting on these discussion questions certainly added another layer of depth to my reading experience which can often be lacking in fast paced thrillers that are easy to speed through and forget after a short while.

The added extras at the end of the guide were very fun and thoughtful- themed drinks, snacks, and activities are always a nice addition for a book club meeting or even just appreciating the book by yourself. Finally, I thought the recommended titles were really spot-on matches for a lot of the themes portrayed in Tell Them You Lied.

Overall, this was a book club kit that definitely gives the reader the opportunity to expand their reading experience with plenty of options to take what works for your book club and leave what might not suit it.

Fantastic kit for use in book club meetings. We struggle with discussing the book (we usually say a few words about it and then start chatting about anything in general) and this will help us to stay on track.

Such a lovely download to receive!

The author interview was really interesting to read and the discussion questions were food for thought.

The whole thing was really nicely designed.

the book club kit felt all very relevant and only added to the books success in my eyes. it all fit perfectly around it.
the warnings although some might find unnecessary i am very much for especially with these type of themes throughout. and i think it was just another thoughtful touch.
the discussion questions were great. and from them came more which i always love. it not only asked the things that were on your own mind in a better way. but it also gave you more to ask and think about. they werent passive but neither did they feel pushy or like they would attract arguments, ha.
the recipes were a nice touch just because. and it felt like you were being really thought of.
the author interview was just the length and info you wanted to read about. and that with the discussion just immersed your interest even more.
all round the kit is a win and the book was an intriguing one for me which took me no time to get in to. it had me questioning many things and many people throughout. just what and where were the truths?

This is nice, rather comprehensive kit for book groups and clubs, It includes a nice assortment of engaging info and activities. There are four printable bookmarks, as well as some trigger warnings so people can understand the content themes in the book. An author interview is included, which could be shared at the end so as to not put any spoilers out there. Included are 15 discussion questions that you can use or build off of. It is a nice touch to have snack and cocktail recipes included. Then there are some fun games (2 Truths and a Lie as well as Guessing Gallery, a fun art activity. There is a short author bio and also a crossword puzzle that many members would appreciate. This was well thought out. and can be used for in-person events or for online gatherings/interactions.

Another book club kit! I was actually quite intrigued about this one—admittedly I do use these kits as somewhat of a determiner on whether or not to read the book and how well it would work in a book club. I was curious about the story, who the liar was, etc. As I delved more into it, I will also admit that I didn’t feel as interested since this book seemed less like something I’d want to read.

All of that said, I definitely appreciated the content warnings and mental health resources being provided. Those pieces are truly essential for this sort of story. The author interview and discussion questions were great, though I wasn’t a fan of the bookmarks. I hate when these are just rehashes of the book’s cover, especially when I didn’t care for the cover to begin with. The recipe inclusion is great for any book club meeting, even if it felt a little weird here given the book’s themes. I did really appreciate the crossword puzzle, though! Book recommendations at the end were very on par.

There is also something unexpected when I open a We Are Bookish Book Club Kit and this one is no different. I love how the book is central to the kit, of course 😉, but then the design team takes the idea off in a different direction. I am know thinking about recipes for sips and bites to help frame the night but now I am set to consider board games. If anyone has a local library that includes a Library of Things you just might fine one of these suggested games there and can check it out for some extra fun.

Thank you for always presenting me with new ideas for my club read!

Thank you to NetGalley for sharing this book club kit!

As an avid book club reader, this is perfect! It’s all the pieces to put together a fun night full of conversation, between the author interview, discussion questions, and the books to read afterwards. I also love how there were shared treats and drinks that tie into the book. This is the perfect kit for any book club!

This is a great resource for a book club. The questions are engaging and it is filled with tons of little "extra". I love the bookmarks- can we say "Decorate A Cookie Contest"? The activities are also fun for a group. This is a must have if you read this with your book club.

Book club kits are my favorite activity to do no matter if I am solo reading or reading with a group. I love that this starts off with content warnings of the book and also gives resources to use to help with the heavy topics that are discussed. This also has what to read next which really helps me as a reader to see other books that are similar if I loved the book. Lastly it has some fun activities like crossword puzzles to keep you entertained.

A well put together and intriguing book club kit. Has everything from puzzles to recipes to free bookmarks. I haven’t read the book itself yet, but decided to check out the book club kit (even if I did get a few spoilers) as it was an easy enough read to get my NetGalley rating up. I left wanting to pick up the book today (unfortunately I have to wait) and excited to read the story when I get the chance.
