This was my first time receiving one of these 'previews' from Buzz Books, and what a treat! This is broken into different sections for fiction, debut authors and nonfiction. There were several books that were already on my possible 'hope to read' list and this allowed me to read a really decent excerpt from it. This also allowed me to explore other possibilities. What a great option! **I received a complimentary ARC from the author/publishing company via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

I enjoyed this edition of Buzz Books 2025: Fall/Winter. I was excited to see an excerpt for And The River Drags Her Down, it seems chillingly good. Some of my favorite excerpts included Girl Dinner (Olivie Blake) and The Vanishing Place (Zoe Rankin). I had not heard of Where the Wildflowers Grow (Terah Shelton Harris) and Burn Down Master’s House (Clay Cane), but I will definitely be adding to my TBR.

Thank you to Publishers Lunch Buzz Books and Netgalley for a free sampler in exchange for honest feedback.

This was super helpful! Loved getting little excerpts of what I can expect! It was a little hard to read on a Kindle as the font is super small, but I did think it was great to hear about what I can expect. Hoping NetGalley puts out more of these in the future!

Loved this!! It was a great way to get a glimpse into new releases in the coming months and gave me some reads outside of my usual genres to look forward to / add to my TBR. I also loved tuning in. to the Zoom call with some of these authors, it was a wonderful event!

With the Buzz Books 2025 Fall/Winter release, book lovers once again have this semi-annual festival of potential literary surprises, delightful treats, richly penned tales, factual explorations, and tried-and-true writers offering their next books to peruse. Again, the format is excellent with an Introduction that spells out how to make the most of this edition of Buzz Books. As before, after the TOC comes the Publishing Preview section which covers a broader picture of what is known now for books of note coming out in the fall and winter. Each entry provides title/publisher/publishing date.

Time to start the “Want to Read” list. My additions included John Boyne’s The Elements, Thomas Pynchon’s Shadow Ticket, Catherine Newman’s Wreck (more on this book later), Marisa Kashino’s Best Offer Wins, as well as the latest by stalwarts like Michael Connelly, Philippa Gregory, John Grisham, Louise Penny, Jill Lepore, Sadie Smith, Nikki Giovanni, Elizabeth Kolbert, Alan Lightman, and Ryan Holiday. (Holiday’s new book Wisdom Takes Work: Learn. Apply. Repeat is interestingly under Non-Fiction / Business, Science and Technology. Based on the Stoics and stoicism, it is practical but philosophical and excellent.) From this large Publishing Preview list, a narrower range of books are selected for the next section of excerpts. This is where it gets truly addictive.

The well-selected excerpts are grouped by categories - Fiction, Debut, or Nonfiction. Each excerpt is long enough to hook a reader. For me, Catherine Newman’s Wreck (October 28) is an instant Must Have book – now. I was laughing by the third paragraph and madly searching to see what else she wrote. Noted and bought. October is a long way off, and I am a middling septuagenarian with a new neurosis that my demise may happen before Wreck is published. Stoically back to the books. Another excerpt from Marisa Kashino’s Best Offer Wins put this book solidly on my list. As for nonfiction, the excerpt from Gerta Keller’s The Last Extinction: The Real Science Behind the Death of the Dinosaurs grabbed my attention and interest for her difficult work experiences and her scientific discoveries. A firm addition to my list.

Once the Buzz Books publication is announced, it is instant holiday of literary possibilities to savor and a new rewarding tradition. Buzz Books 2025 Fall/Winter is a gift to readers.

I am grateful to Publishers Lunch and NetGalley, as well as all the authors and publishers, for providing another amazing sampling of upcoming books. I eagerly look forward to the next Buzz Books publications.

Thank you to the authors, publishers and Net Galley for providing a free ARC of this collection for my review.

I've come to love these Buzz Books collections for great ideas of books to look forward to in the coming seasons. Each installment has several samples of books coming out in coming seasons, and though it's hard to just stop reading a book, and have to wait for the book to come out to finish it up, it's a great introduction to new authors or genres. The collection introduced me to several new options coming out for this Fall & Winter.

4 stars.
