Sometimes you want to read a book that’s just plain and simple FUN, and this series that follows three estranged sisters—who’ve become ::gasp:: friends—is full of campy shenanigans and sisterly squabbles. Also, there’s a *batshit crazy* character named Lindy! CRAZY AUNT LINDY! She’s a basket case of Jennifer Coolidge vibes and I adore her. (A name like mine isn’t often run across in the wild, so it’s always a bonus when it happen. For example, the last time I saw a Lindy on the page was in Stephen Graham Jones’s Lake Witch trilogy. That Lindy inspired another character’s taxidermy interest of all things, so it goes to show we Lindys are a rare but special breed.)

I stumbled upon the first book in Coombs’s series (Drop Dead Sisters) before its release last year (or earlier this year? TBR flies) and couldn’t wait to get SISTERS BEFORE MISTERS. It was on my Kindle and Marked Complete within twenty-four hours (I have no self-control), and exactly what I needed.

In Drop Dead Sisters Remi, Maeve, and Eliana Finch get the scare of their lives when they accidentally unalive a Bad Guy on a family camping trip…or did they? Maybe the sisters killed the creep, or maybe the escaped criminal lurking around their campground did, but they guy is definitely dead, and when the cops find the body it is not going to look good for the sisters. Is it even murder if it’s self defense, anyway? Shenanigans ensue. One year and one amputated finger of an almost-ex-husband later, in SISTERS BEFORE MISTERS the Finch sisters find themselves solving another murder that they hopefully didn’t commit—and it’s even better than the last time.

This is a great addition to the series! We get to see a whole new babysitters club (Generation Z style) take on mysteries and come into their own!

This is the second book in the Finch Sisters Series. I had a fun time reading both this and the first book. Thank you NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

This was a great seasonal read (unfortunately I’m reading it in the summer and I do feel as if that may have influenced me a bit in my mood) but other than that this was a fun book! The conversational style is always something I enjoy because you feel involved in the story. I will say it was leaning towards more YA and had a “younger” style (which I typically love) but something just felt a little off for me

Overall, this was such a fun seasonal book and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quick fun read!

This book had me hooked from the minute i started reading it, i relate so much to the sisters especially Remi and i was so happy to see well known gaming conventions mentioned. The parents and aunt made me laugh and laugh at their antics and the relationship between the sisters were spot on! Already waiting impatiently for more of the Finch sisters!

I wasn’t sure the hilarity of the first book could be replicated or met….this absolutely did! The ups and downs and hilarity of it all was refreshing and fun and I thoroughly enjoyed it

Readers, watch out for Sisters Before Misters by Amelia Diane Coombs. It's out in October and will be one of your favorites.

This book is such a thrilling, messy, and absolutely addictive ride that I couldn’t put it down. The writing style is witty and sharp with emotional layers that made me root for Remi and her family. The way the author weaves suspense with heartfelt moments about loyalty, trust, and family kept me glued to every page. It felt like a wild, thrilling puzzle that somehow manages to be both cozy and edge-of-your-seat intense all at once. This one definitely stayed with me long after I finished it.

I don’t think this book is for me. I found the dialogue and the general vibe of the book to be too modern. I was having a hard time reading and being able to put myself in the head of the FMC. I don’t think I am the target audience for this book and I can’t give a fair rating. DNF’d

The sisters! The Halloween vibes with a scary undertone! The plot!
All this made for a great, solid sequel with unguessable turns!

Remi, Maeve and Eliana are sisters with interesting if complicated lives - not least because they have a habit of landing in the midst of murder cases!

Centred around events related to one of the sisters' marriage troubles, this is an amusing and entertaining cozy mystery which delivers what it says on the box. Because let's face it, Halloween can be creepy enough without missing husbands and severed digits being thrown into the mix...

An enjoyable read, this one will appeal to those who enjoy humorous family dynamics and cosy murder mysteries.

Thank you for the ARC!
I enjoyed this one as much as I did the first one. Loved reading about the Eliana, Maeve and Remi and how they navigate this situation together. Definitely recommend!

This book was possibly funnier than the first. I can’t wait to see what’s next for the Finch sisters! I was super excited to get an ARC and not have to wait until the release date.

3.5 stars — fun in concept, just not fully my style.

Sisters Before Misters is a light and quirky mystery that feels like a mix between a Lifetime movie and a modern-day Nancy Drew story. It’s the kind of book that doesn’t take itself too seriously, which can be refreshing—especially if you're in the mood for a seasonal, easy-to-digest read.

That said, I don’t think I’m the target audience for this one. While I enjoy lighthearted stories and even the occasional Hallmark-style movie, this leaned more toward YA in tone and style than I expected. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that—in fact, readers who enjoy cozy mysteries with a younger voice and playful pacing will likely enjoy it more than I did.

For me personally, I was hoping for a bit more suspense or tension to pull me in deeper. But I can definitely see this working for fans of fun, low-stakes mysteries with sisterly dynamics and seasonal flair.

This book was everything I was hoping it would be. It was well paced, funny and mysterious. It kept me on my toes. I did not see any of the twists coming. I loved it!

I received an ARC of this ebook from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review. After not loving book one, I was skeptical about continuing this series. But I’m glad I did! Remi had noticeable character growth which I appreciated. The story stayed entertaining with twists and humor. It was a solid cozy mystery.

#SistersBeforeMisters #NetGalley is the first book I've read by this author.
I enjoyed this book featuring three sisters, a set of colorful parents, an aunt with a questionable history and, Buffy the dog.
When a soon to be ex husband has disappeared, the sisters, Eliana, Maeve, and Remi decide to investigate, which puts them in some odd situations.
I liked this book, I could easily relate to Remi, being the youngest sister of 3, who were aged apart in a similar way.
My favorite character was Bess, assistant to Maeve. Her investigative skills were good, and her calm personality kept the sisters on track, sort of, lol.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.

I'm excited to recommend it to other readers.
