This was quick and fast, I just feel very meh towards it. Like it was fine? But that’s about it. There was just nothing about this story that really stood out

DNF Im so sorry :(((( i really wanted to like this but I couldn't vibe with the narration. As for the story, it was enjoyable enough, but it was a little too unbelievable -- I mean, a 20-ish year old built a whole cabin ( with a fridge!) in the deep woods in Canada (inaccessible by vehicle) by herself!?!?!
The romance was well written though- I'll debate trying out a hard copy for that aspect.

I found this book to be an enjoyable read. The story kept me engaged from start to finish and had some moments that really stood out. Overall, it offered an entertaining reading experience.

Fast paced, as expected from Tess Sharpe, where there is zero build up just page 1 and in the thick of the story with the racing heart and it doesn't slow down until the very end.

No Body No Crime is a runaway success of a thriller that shot straight through my heart! Tess Sharpe did an amazing job at keeping the action going and the pace steady while also gifting us a wonderfully soft love story.

Mel is an investigator for a small town and there's one missing girl case she's never been able to touch: her own girlfriend's. They have a shared secret in their past and when Chloe ran away, she took Mel's heart with her. When Mel is finally hired to find her she goes on a journey to see her girlfriend after years apart, and must get her to open up if they want to survive the journey home.

Tess Sharpe has a very clear voice in her writing and her style reads like she writes with purpose. There isn't a lot of lingering on anything and yet a very crisp picture of what is happening is given, which makes this thriller a really delightful ride that is really hard to get off of or pause until you've reached the end. The twists were all surprising and yet not out of left field which made the conclusion all the more satisfying!

The climax will have you hanging on for dear life as you watch these powerful women survive and conquer and it's so fun to see how they do it. The way Tess Sharpe handled the conflict and cleaned it up felt purposeful and full of intention which is a breath of fresh air compared to so many thrillers that really feel like they end in rushed or not well thought out ways. This story is a sharp end that feels very satisfying to cut through!

I highly recommend No Body No Crime for anyone needing a quick and engaging thriller. On a reading slump and want something fast paced and mysterious to get you hooked? Look no further. Feeling reading fatigue and want something that entertains you without all the exhausting emotional investment? This could work stupendously! While I care a lot about Chloe and Mel and the rest of the gang, I wasn't emotionally wrung out by this story, either, which could make it the perfect light thrill ride for your reading enjoyment!

Tess Sharpe reads the audiobook herself and I must admit to the inherent charm of having the author read their book to you. She was fantastic at characterizing her own voice for each character and made the journey even more special as you can hear the inflection and tone reflecting her real intentions for each scene or character. Very well paced reading as well!

Regarding the audio - I think the narrator overall did a good job but certain characters didn’t do it for me - particularly Junior - I thought he was 12 until I realized his job and age.

Regarding the book itself - I thought the story itself was interesting but the timeline made it hard to follow with all the different timelines and jumping around. I also felt it was kind of slow at first but did get more interesting and faster paced near the end. I really think I would’ve enjoyed it more with less timeline jumps and POVs.

The story has a lot of potential, novel plot and storytelling components. However, due to the disjointed timeline, I think it took a while longer than I would like to get into the story. It also wasn't as compelling as I hoped but did pick up/find its stride about two-thirds of the way through. The last third was much more quickly paced and kept me guessing. The characters were well developed in interesting, and the dialogue was quippy and fun. I would certainly give another story in this world a try.

Thrilling, romantic, and downright fun, No Body No Crime is a new favorite in this household! Sharpe brings a wealth of complexity and depth to the adult thriller genre, as well as a healthy dose of humor.

This audiobook, read by author Tess Sharpe, starts of with the literal bang of a plane crash and doesn't stop running from there. The characters are flawed but likeable and the prose is direct and gripping. The author also clearly has a fantastic sense of humor, because although the main themes of this novel are drop-dead serious (literally), there are some truly laugh-out-loud quips and one-liners to lighten up some upsettingly dire circumstances.
The narration is neither outstanding or intolerable, and I'm picky about my audiobooks, so please consider that a win. I particularly enjoy when an author does their own narration, because I can trust that I'm really hearing what they want me to hear. I'll definitely be reading and/or listening to more from Sharpe in the future.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an early copy in exchange for an honest review.

Audio Review: The audio is good, I would say if you mostly listen to books this audio is just fine. It brings characters to life and tells the story well.

Review: Tess Sharpe continues with her strong ability to write crime narratives that have a lot of heart and strong character development. Crime narratives are not something I typically like but I really enjoy Sharpe's writing. On top of that, majority of her stories also include sapphic romance and this is a space it's rarely included. Not only do I appreciate the thriller aspects but she also writes damn good romance.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I would say I enjoyed the first half more than the second half. The first half was a lot of mystery, character build up, secret backstories and angst between the characters, family and past. This really pulled me into the story and I didn't want to put it down. The second half was still enjoyable, however, toward the end I felt like we lost the plot a bit. The ending wrap up of the thriller aspect got a bit too tangled and convoluted for my taste. I felt many times that we could wrap up the mystery aspect and call it a day but it just kept unraveling.

This story is a bit "I know what you did last summer," which is a film I personally love. It combines elements from the past, we go back and forth in time as we get to know our two main characters and what lead them to such a stressful situation. Even though there are parts I didn't love I would still highly recommend this novel. I feel like Tess Sharpe as an author is underrated and hope more people will give her work a chance.

Omgosh, I loved this book.

The narrator did an amazing job at the pov chapters and making each character sound different from each other. I loved listening to this book so much! I highly recommend the audio.

As for story, this is book easily one of my favorites this year. It was so much fun. The characters are all different and relatable, the plot was thrilling and I kept wanting to read ,more and more. The queer rep felt very natural and honestly the story was giving Uncharted vibes or The old cartoon Rescuers with the mice. This book is sooo good. I can't wait to recommend it.

I had high hopes for this one, and while I did like it, it fell a little flat for me.

This was a fast paced, fun read. I really enjoyed both Toby and Mel as characters and I thought they had god chemistry. I didn’t love how the dialogue went throughout parts of the book. In the middle of the action, I didn’t necessarily want some heavy dialogue.

Overall this was a fun read, just didn’t live up to my expectations.

I was excited to see that Tess Sharpe, who I recognize from her YA novel The Girls I've Been, had a book out for adults! Maybe this isn't the first, but it's the first I've seen, and I'm glad I read it! I'm a little surprised how similar the two books feel, but Mel and Chloe were easy to route for and there was the perfect balance of action, danger, and buffoonery to keep me turning the pages without being too worried about the characters' well-being.

This was my first Tess Sharpe book and I’m hooked! No Body No Crime is a fast-paced thriller full of star-crossed lesbians, buffoonish villains by the moniker The Bag of Dicks, plane crashes, wilderness survival, and so much more.
When Mel Tillman helped the birthday girl bury a body at Chloe Harper’s sweet sixteen party, she didn’t know that it was a meet-cute that would take years too payoff. Shortly after their illicit first encounter, Chloe vanishes for six years with little more than a postcard. But when the Harper family hires Mel (now a newly minted P.I.) to find their missing daughter, she will do anything to bring her ex back from the wilderness.
Mel and Chloe are such a fun pair! They are not a couple that taunts they audience with will they/won’t they energy. Instead, it’s obvious that they both want to rip each other’s clothes off—they just might die before they get the chance to do so. That’s not to say that they are a perfect match; there is plenty of (fairly realistic) drama to keep them at each other’s throats when they aren’t attached at the lips.
Tess does a solid job narrating. She is able to provide the two heroines with distinct voice without straying to fair into theatrics. The Bag of Dicks, on the other hand, sound quite similar but this seems more like an artistic choice than an acting one. My one small gripe is that, in audio format, the time jumps are a little too sudden. I would occasionally miss one and find myself adrift in the narrative.
All in all, I found No Body No Crime to be absolutely fantastic. It scratches my badass lesbian itch and provides an action-packed payoff. I have already ordered it for my library!

This was my first Tess Sharpe read, and I think I want to check out more by this author. I liked the pacing and plot. I thought it was unique that the author did the narrating because that doesn't happen too often. She did a good job. The title was the first thing that pulled me to this book because it reminded me of a Taylor Swift song. I liked how Chloe and Mel interacted. The mystery was unraveled at a good pace and kept the reader pulled in. I liked the mix of past and present to give the reader the full picture. It doesn't always work but it did here.

Surprising no one, I loved this one. No one does it like Tess Sharpe. I didn't know much about this book when I jumped in and I am so glad for that. I loved every second of it. I kept being surprise and I did not see any of it coming. I really just loved everything about it. The main characters were flawed and layered and captivating. And I even liked how other characters sometimes had points of view too. It was just so good. I actually cannot wait to reread this over and over. Another amazing book by Tess Sharpe. I cannot wait for more.

4.5 stars

Fun, suspenseful, and intriguing. No Body No Crime is the first book I have read by Tess Sharpe, and it did not disappoint. It's a thriller mystery with a lovely bi4bi sapphic romance subplot. The story is interesting, and the characters are very well written. The vast cast of characters are unique and laid out wonderfully. While this is more of a drama, I found plenty of comedic moments throughout between Gigi and some of her dramatics and the buffoonish nature of our villains. All in all, this was super fun and fast-paced, so I had a pretty good time.

I also ended up listening to the audiobook for this, and while oftentimes having the author narrate their own book seems like a *choice*, Tess Sharpe was amazing here. She made each character distinct and stand out. I was not at all disappointed here.

🎧 Book Review 🎧 What transpired between Chloe and Mel before a fiery plane crash that tears open old wounds? Tess Sharpe wastes no time jumping right into the nonstop action in this book! I was about twenty percent in when I realized that No Body No Crime is actually narrated by the author herself and my mind was blown and the book became that much more impressive. As they deal with the aftermath of the plane crash, the two former teenage lovers spiral down through their past in one gripping saga that absolutely captivates the reader at every second. Tess Sharpe redefines the phrase “never a dull moment” in her latest endeavor and it was a delightful introduction to her work! What a dark yet humorously delightful treat this one was!

This is a really fun mystery/thriller! Sharpe is a master at nonlinear narration, and I love how information trickles down to the reader, it definately kept me hooked. My only criticism is that the author's narration was a bit overacted at times, which took me out of the story a bit. Overall, a great read!
