I’m a big fan of the author and ‘The Girls I’ve Been’ is still one of my absolute favorites. I was excited for another Tess Sharpe adventure with some badass women and this didn’t disappoint. It was fun to get to know Mel and Chloe and go along for the ride as they fight to keep each other and those they care about safe. I enjoyed the witty banter, their impressive survival skills, and the drama. The hardest part for me was separating these characters from my favs in the author’s previous books - largely I think because I listened to them all as audiobooks and they give off a lot of the same energy. I enjoy the author’s narration, but at times it wasn’t always easy to keep the characters’ voices separate, which made it a bit less seamless to follow. If you liked Tess Sharpe’s other books and love women kicking ass, you’ll like this one too - check it out.

Thanks to NetGalley for the audiobook.

The narrator was great and had a great reading speed and voice. As for the story it fell short for me. At times it felt all over the place and was easy to get behind. I did enjoy the sort of tortured love story tho

LETS GO LESBIANS 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️

THIS WAS SO SO SOOO FUCKINGGGG GOOD!!!!

Another Tess Shape book for the win!!! I loved both books in her “Girls I’ve Been” series, so I was super excited when she announced she was coming out with “No Body No Crime”! The vibes of this book are similar to her earlier series - badass women getting into messy situations involving dangerous powerful men - and I ate it right up! The plot is chock full of action, secrets, violence, and drama, and it kept me guessing up until the very end which I LOVE. I can’t wait to get my hands on a physical copy in July!

And as if Tess wasn’t already amazing enough, she also absolutely crushed the narration! She puts so much energy and emotion into her performances, and they make for such a fun listening experience.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!! 🫶🏼

This was so close to being a 5. I will be highly recommending it to everyone. Amazing characters, setups, and twists. I just wanted more from the later half of the novel. But the romance was great, and the buildup was perfection.

This was so fun, the fast paced, timeline swapping, queer adventure I love from Tess Sharpe. The audiobook is narrated by the author, who does an amazing job differentiating between the different characters and her reading makes funny scenes even funnier.

Tess Sharpe you beautiful bastard. I loved your teenage queer girls and dare I say I love your mid-20s queer girls more. Mel is annoying (/pos) and Chloe is stupid (/pos) and they're even dumber together (/pos). I love them so much. I wish I got more of their backstories- I couldn't tell if we liked Chloe's dad or not- the bits we did get rounded them out well and in the right spots to match the other.

I love a mystery and a chase through a forest, and while I was confused about how we were leaving the forest at like 70% through you did not disappoint. Finishing this whole thing with a political game with the matriarch of the house was so much more satisfying than a fight to the death.

As much as I enjoyed Witney (Whitney?) being alive in the end, and I kind of saw it coming after Mel couldn't find the body, it also felt just a smidge too neat. But I'm also a huge sap who wanted her alive and that side of me is winning in the end, so. Oh well! I really enjoyed Rick's chapters, listening to his scattered inner monologue was incredibly entertaining, and made the relationship between the men pretty funny in the end.

Overall, I loved this. Never stop writing (what I have come to think of as) my queer girls please!!!

Classic Tess Sharpe! This book follows two ex-girlfriends whose lives diverged on a fated night in their teen years when they committed a crime together. Since then, one has been on the run, the other not knowing where she is. When the latter discovers her location and is hired by her family to bring her home, she heads to the Canadian wilderness...where both her perfect ex and all her secrets will face her down.

This just didn’t work for me. The concept and timeline jumps between past and present had potential, but the characters all sounded the same—like they never grew up, even years later. The stakes were high yet the characters dont take them seriously. Most of them also feels one-dimensional, like cardboard cutouts with no real depth. On top of that, the narrator made it even harder to stay engaged—some of the reactions were so over-dramatized, they came off as unbelievable. I really tried to like this one and give it a fair shot, its just not it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC

It's hard to find books that thrillers and romance and also queer. And those being my two favorite categories this was perfect! I really enjoyed the suspense and humor in this.

I gave the book itself a 5 but the audio gets a 2. I didn't enjoy the narrator and got lost sometimes when differentiating the characters

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC - this read was absolutely delightful!

This page turner kept me up past my bedtime - a perfect easy, action-packed summer read.

I loved both protagonists and the author did a great job balancing action, drama, and a touch of gore with humor, spot on one-liners, and a touch of romance. I felt totally absorbed into the story and was completely satisfied by the end. This will be a top recommendation I give, for sure!

I really enjoyed this book. The comedy that was sprinkled throughout the book was refreshing. The Characters were loveable. The Villain's were written very well. This was a 5 star book for me.

DNFing this book for now, the narrator is absolutely GRATING on the ears, and I can't subject myself to her voice. If I had a physical copy of this book on my hands, I would be into it. To the publisher - I wouldn't recommend hiring this narrator again ...

No Body No Crime by Tess Sharpe continues the author's talent for writing thrilling, action packed stories, with incredibly intelligent women.

The story follows Mel as she tries to track Chloe down, after having disappeared years prior. There are alternating timelines, going from the past to present day, which work together to create a cohesive story at the end. The suspense kept me on my toes, as I was trying to figure out just where everything was going to end up.

My one criticism of the novel, is how YA it felt, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially for someone who loves the author's other works of "The Girls I've Been." I was about halfway through the novel before I realized the characters were adults, granted, likely just older than their teenage years. I felt like there could have been more grittiness, since it was for an older audience. Additionally, the characters acted very much like they were still teenagers.

Overall, I really did enjoy the novel, and I do love that the author narrates her own books, as it adds such a unique perspective to the story. I cannot wait for the novel to publish and be able to share it with others looking for an action packed novel.

This book was FUN. It was convoluted and action-packed and had a tone reminiscent of Candice Fox’s books as secrets and gotchas were unraveled and main characters Chloe and Mel try to outwit dangerous adversaries. There were a few “out there” moments, but I could waive my suspension of disbelief because of the genre and style of the book. I sat down and listened to the audiobook (almost) in one sitting.

I will say, though, I kind of wish I’d read this one with my eyeballs. Sharpe’s narration tended towards shrill this time around (compared to The Girls I’ve Been/The Girl in Question) and I found it hard to differentiate between the characters with the higher voices (they lost some of their defining characteristics, especially when emotions were high). Plus I generally don’t like higher voices for audiobook narration anyway (personal preference).

This is funny and intense! Normally I’m not too fond of a dual timeline, but it works really well here and helps keep the story engaging and adds to the tension. I also enjoyed how the plot twists are set up. The bad guys feel like a parody of awful henchmen, they are dumb, but in a funny way.

The dialogue is a major issue, sometimes it would just stop abruptly and switch to something happening which felt jarring and pulled me out of the story.

I would have loved more rekindling of the relationship and to hear more of the actual events of what happened 6 years ago and how they fell in love. But they do have great yearning throughout.

The narrator doesn’t differentiate her voice enough between Mel and Chloe, so in the beginning I couldn’t be totally sure who was talking, other than that I felt like the delivery of the story was great, the tone of voice, timing, and pauses were all perfect.

This was a no for me. I listened 25% in and struggled with the back and forth timeline. I think part of it was the narrator didn’t really distinguish between the characters voices so it was easy to forget if it was Mel or Chloe. It all seemed jumbled to me which took me out of the story.
