Sorry for rating this low, but I have to be honest.

This book was boring,

I don not know if it was the writing style or the characters, but I did not like reading this book.

The cover is nice, though.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Loved the 80s setting of this book right off the bat. This is a relatable book in that we all at some point have known or will known a friend like Spike, wild and entertaining. Spike gives off the empowering vibes of a woman who is fearless and Tina becomes completely consumed by the friendship. I was laughing at some of their banter but also was nervous and shocked at times at what the two would get into. This is a powerful book about female friendships and the chaos and enjoyment that can come out of them. I felt like I really knew this characters in person and couldn’t stop thinking of them afterwards.

This book was a fever dream! Compulsively readable and a bit unusual. It follows one of the most toxic friendships I’ve read about in a while. At times I wanted to shake the characters to get them to snap out of it- but who hasn’t fallen into a problematic friendship at some point? The real surprise for me was at the end of the book. The person I thought was the “bad guy” is actually the wronged party. I enjoyed the irony!

This book is about Tina and Spike and the crazy relationship they have during 1980s in New York City. This book is full of adventure and entanglement with each other and men. But danger looms for Tina. This was fast paced and well written book and very unpredictable!
