Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. I love Frost's books, and this did not disappoint. I loved Lola and Rhys' story, and Frost created a beautiful backdrop, an engaging supporting cast of characters, and wove in multiple interesting subplots. These added to the richness of the story and I felt they were all given the right amount of attention; Lola's past relationship added a particularly interesting dynamic to the book. An excellent read.

Kate Frost works her literary magic with every amazing book she writes. She invites us to beautiful and exotic locales that we can only dream of visiting. I am so thankful I found her wonderful books because I have become a world traveler without leaving my beach chair. Her latest romantic getaway takes us to Santorini, a Greek island in the Aegean Sea, where the water is turquoise blue and the gentle breezes whisper on the white sand beaches. This is what paradise looks like and for Lola and Rhys it was the place where dreams came true as love snuck up on them like waves in a storm.
I was cheering for them from the moment they met on the “moon-bathed dock” where they both escaped to find a little peace and quiet after a long travel day. Rhys was smitten for Lola from the get-go, but knew he was way out of her league. When Lola proposed that they should fake-date while on Santorini for their best friend's wedding, he was shocked, but quickly agreed to her mischievous plan. Rhys thanked the stars above for sending Lola to him and vowed to make the most of every moment they had together. Of course, their fake dating became more as the romantic wedding destination cast a magical spell on the unsuspecting couple. Rhys felt like he had known Lola forever and when she needed to be rescued, he was right there by her side. The wedding of their friends Fabs and Mirabel was lavish, but also simple, as the happy couple began their new life together. Rhys and Lola’s time on Santorini was coming to an end, and they had to face reality once again. Will their bubble of happiness continue to surround them once they get home or will life and distance just get in the way?

I received this ARC from Boldwood Books thanks to NetGalley , and I was not expecting to dive into a book basically set in Sardinia, 40km from were I was born... it was a bit like coming home and put me in a good mood straight away.
The story follows Lola, newly single, skeptical about the existence of true love and with a lot of friends by her side whose only goal in life seems to be finding the perfect love match for her.. the whole group get together in Sardinia for a 10 days holiday ending with Mirabel (Lola's best friend) wedding.
While this trip to an absolutely idyllic location seems like the perfect chance to pause and forget about real life, Lola finds herself in need to escape a bit from her own group of friends and their (seemingly perfect) lives and partners... that's when Rhys makes an appearance, he's the groom's best friend and also in need of an escape so... why not team up and pretend to be a couple to get everyone off their backs?
We kind of know already where this is going, a very popular trope but nicely executed here, we get to know a bit of both out main characters, especially Lola and a threatening figure from her past, her insecurities and struggles, but just as much space is given to Rhys. Of course they're each other's rebound but there's going to be space for something more...
I found this book very pleasant and there are some details in there that made me appreciate it even more on a personal level, reading about places so familiar for me in such an accurate way had its perks and made me smile more often than not. The author captured the essence of that part of Sardinia with its splendor and luxury but also with its bumpy road (as somebody that suffers from motion sickness, I can totally relate to some of Lola's struggles there...)
Italian were not stereotyped for once and that something else I really appreciated, Fabs family's hospitality towards Mirabel and the group of close friends gathered there for the wedding shows perfectly the big heart people from Sardinia have. Kudos for that.
As a person in her mid 30s I could relate to Lola's struggles, especially about seeing the people surrounding you with all their lives figured out while you still don't know what's gonna happen next, but this book also makes us ponder a bit about our habit as a society: an honest an open conversation with friends or loved ones can do wonders. Trust ;)

Very sweet romance and heartwarming. Was my first book by her and I hope to read more in the future!! Keep em coming

Mothers fighting, making ex jealous all whilst on a destination wedding and you've got Kate Frost new book. Set on the gorgeous island of Sardinia, Lola jets off from her PR job at a leading record label to be in her best friends wedding. But as you guess there's nothing blissfully peaceful about a wedding in the sun. Lola, at times, come across as someone who takes things way too far and to be honest is slightly unlikeable whilst Rhys, all the man wants to do is to move on. So when Lola suggests they make his ex jealous, you can guess its a love triangle at its best.
I enjoyed but didn't love Kate's new book and that maybe because I couldn't stand Lola.
Thanks for the early access and I know this is probably be right up someone else street but this has way too much drama for me.
