This was a great book... I know it's described as being for fans of A Court of Thorns and Roses, but I have to say I would disagree. It isn't as high fantasy and there is far more humour and much less complex language, magic systems and lore. (I would love for book 2 to dive into the inner workings of the magic system as I will certainly be reading it). Also, the lead male in this book is far superior in my eyes, and I've known him for one book and I'm ready to kick Rhysand aside... and Cassian... probably not Azriel.
The characters were amazing, and I will mention again the massive green flag I am waving for the male lead! The author manages to pull off morally grey without even the slightest hint of domestic abuse, which is rampant in romantasy right now and honestly sickens me. His 'greyness' extends to his tasks and duties, and he kept them entirely separate from his personal and familial relationships.
My one critique would be that the ending seemed incredibly rushed, like it was added as an afterthought. Don't get me wrong, I love a cliff hanger, and I love how it ended. I just feel like it needed at least another chapter, if not to get to that point and build up a little anticipation to get to that point. We already wanted to read book two at this stage, I'm not saying it should have ended differently, I loved the cliffhanger but I just need more "Before" to the cliffhanger.

"A Fated Vow" was an utterly addictive listen that hooked me from the very beginning. The story combines the perfect blend of fantasy, romance, and the irresistible enemies-to-lovers trope. With a dark, brooding villain who commands death and a strong-willed elf lord’s daughter caught in a dangerous fate, the tension and chemistry were palpable throughout.
What truly elevated this audiobook, though, was the exceptional narration. The voice actors brought each character to life with such depth and emotion. E.M. Wylde was spot-on as Asmo—his voice perfectly captured the intensity and internal conflict of the character, just as I imagined. Lila Winters delivered a remarkable performance as Valeria, balancing vulnerability and strength.
The production quality was top-notch, and the immersive performances made it feel like I was right in the middle of this fantastical world. I found myself completely drawn into the drama, the magic, and the emotional stakes. This audiobook is a must-listen for fans of fantasy romance and well-executed voice acting.
I absolutely can’t wait for the next installment—both in book and audiobook format. I highly recommend it! Thank you, Netgalley, Tantor Media, and Amanda Aggie for the ALC.

I was given the audiobook to listen to. I really liked their voices. Good tone and as there were both male and female narrator's they wasn't trying to portrait the other sexes part. Which is always better than a man trying to sound like a woman and vice versa. On 1.0 speed they were speaking really slowly so I wacked them up to 2.0 They still sounded like themselves and was more the speed I read at.
Apparently these characters have previously been in another book but I am an Amanda Aggie novice and this is my first time reading one of her books.
Therefore I haven't met these before.
I do wish I'd had a back story on the demon though. He's so sweet!
"doesn't matter that you tried to kill me with my own poisonous sword, you need shelter from those animals that want to eat you, I have a a big house and don't want to stand here every night listening to you snore whilst protecting you ". awwwww
I haven't met a demon as sweet as him before. It does seem to me that the only demon in this story is her own dad. Bit of a nasty Btard that one, not to mention her fiancé who left her to drown.
Nothing major really happens throughout this book. It's all quite forgettable really. It's definitely not going to be a must have to re-read every year. I doubt I'll remember the plot in a months time.
It was however a good time and thank you for giving me a copy to listen to

Thank you so much NetGalley and RBmedia for the ALC in exchange for an honest review!
This book was just ok. I think that it had a lot of potential, but I think it may have been too slow for me. I have enjoyed cozy fantasies in the past but this one seems to have trouble deciding whether it wants to be dangerous or cozy which leads it to being just a slow fantasy.
The world building was also a bit confusing. Though this is the first book of this universe I have read so that may be why.
I read the audiobook version of this book and the narration was also just ok. For me, it was kind of hard to get into this story.

There needs to be a disclaimer that this is a spinoff to an existing series, that should be read beforehand to fully understand the existing relationship of the characters.
For the first half of the book, we are introduced to the main characters of the story and given a decent amount of world building, but I am left wondering if I had read the other series before, would I understand the world a bit more. I was surprised the Lord of Hell Asmodeus Morningstar never connected the dots to Valeria being the lost Elven Duchess when she shows up in his destroyed keep, that shares an ocean with the elven isle, saying she has nowhere else to go, despite her hair and eye color being different than standard noble elves, after he hears the news of her father's demand to have her returned or have a war.
The second half, more like the final 30% of the book is spent in trying to figure out how to get out of the war with Valeria's father.
The narrators of this book have soothing calm voices. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to them read this story. It was also refreshing that the MMC POV started the book.
I received an Audiobook from NetGalley.

I read A fated vow last year when it was released and loved it, but the audio made it even better!!
If you haven’t read The Dark Haloes trilogy I highly recommend you start with that to avoid spoilers as this takes place many years after, however this is a completely different storyline following Asmo and his starlight.
I loved Asmo so much already from the Dark Haloes and the realm of monsters series that he is a side character in. You can always tell he isn’t really the villain he’s been cast to play. He’s a broody prince who just wants to be left alone, until he meets her and she flips his world upside down. I just want him to find his HEA!!!! I have been not so graciously waiting for book 2.
This book will grab you from the very first page and keep you interested until the last. It’s available on KU along with all of Amanda Aggie’s other books. And they are so bingable.

4 stars and 2 chili peppers
-demons and reapers
-slow slow slow burn
-secret elf princess
-secret prince of the seven realms
-court secrets and intrigue
-cozy fantasy if you’re good with a little death and murder vibes
-great banter
-fun side characters
This was a great start to a new series! Most of this book focused on the set up for the coming books, with a large focus on the relationship between Valeria and Asmo. The burn was very slow on this and it included a lot of yearning and angst which I always enjoy. The side characters were great some much needed comic relief. Griff, Asmo’s nephew in particular had some great one liners and ended up being such a good friend for Valeria.
The audiobook narrators were great in this story! Lila Winters has such a nice soothing voice and is able to convey so much emotion; and E.M. Wylde is exactly what you would expect from someone who is voicing a demon – extra low and growly. The did a great job and I would definitely listen to them narrate again.
Overall, this was a win for me. I will be continuing the series and I can’t wait to see where it ends up going, especially with that cliffhanger! Thank you to the publisher, Tantor Audio, for the Advanced Listener Copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

A brooding prince of hell? I'm in.
An elf girl lives in his palace without his knowledge? I'm in.
The elf girl is as important as him even if he doesn't know? I'm so in!
I got the opportunity to listen to the audiobook, and it was amazing!
The narrators are incredible, and I really hope they won't be changed for the rest of the series.

Overall a fun and breezy romantasy to listen to. A few anachronisms that made me cringe (twerking, a Hogwarts letter, etc.)
My only complaint is I felt I needed to have read previous books in this universe to understand some characters and the world. I love book universes but I feel a book or series needs to stand on their own, especially for first time readers.
But afraid I am booked, give me more Asmo and Velaria!
Adored the narrators! They did a fantastic job. I find a lot of "shadow daddy" characters tend to get a very mumbley voice but not the case with this audiobook. Everyone was clear and easy to understand while fitting the characters.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publishers for the audiobook arc in exchange for review!

Asmo and Valeria were a delight to get to know! Gimme all the witty banter, nicknames, and swooning 😍
Huge fan of romantasy, and this one is delicious. The voice actors reallllly won this round, too 🔥

For fans of:
- Wooing the Witch Queen
When an Elf princess becomes stranded in a Demon Kings manor, she figures she is eternally doomed. Luckily, the Demon King is just as much of a lonely outsider as she is, and invites her to live with him in his home while he rebuilds his life after centuries of imprisonment. Romance ensues.
This book includes:
- Elves, Fae, Demons, Mythology galore
- Beauty and the Beast retelling
- forced proximity
- instant love
- mentions of twerking???
- TW
This book is a cute, easy read. Sadly, I feel like it fell into the typical trap of being a YA book, but the author wanted to include (bad) spice so it became an adult book. The characters were flat. The villains were cartoony and it was all boringly predictable. I didn't find myself relating to any of the characters or being interested in their stories. I also felt like there was a decent amount of harassment that was not properly addressed at any juncture. Like Griffin with the witches??? Or the spiked love potion?? I couldn't get past that personally. Also the gargoyles were twerking??? Why??? That really put the nail in the coffin for me.
I received this audiobook as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley, Amanda Aggie, and Tantor Audio for the opportunity to review this book. This review has been posted to GoodReads check out my profile https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/62314863 and it will be posted to my bookstagram account https://www.instagram.com/tinynightingales/ and booktok https://www.tiktok.com/@tinynightingales?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc

An elven princess finds herself jettisoned from a shipwreck by her uncaring fiancé, and uses the opportunity to form a new life for herself in enemy territory, since her family kept her sequestered so no one knows what she looks like.
She makes camp in an abandoned compound in the woods, which turns out to be the property of a demon who she makes a bargain with to be the caretaker and prevent them from harming one another. Romance ensues with a cliffhanger ending. I can't wait for the next installment!
Good audio narration!

This was my first experience with this author, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is a quick, spicy, story with funny banger and an enemies to lovers romance. I loved the characters, the premise, and the plot was fast paced. The spice was good too. I enjoyed the narration.
Thank you to Netgalley, Amanda Aggie and Tantor audio for this ALC

A brilliant, romantic fantasy with great world building and even better tension between our main characters.
Great story!

This story was full of magic, funny banter, political unrest, and secrets kept. I loved the relationship between the MMC and FMC. The minor characters were also enjoyable and well-developed. The dual narration lent to this story, and it wouldn't have been as immersing if not for the two narrators. This slow burn, fated-mates story is definitely a must read for lovers of romantasy. It ends on somewhat of a cliffhanger, and I cannot wait for book 2!

Valeria is engaged to be married to a jerk. Their ship just crashed and she is assumed dead at sea. When she stumbles upon a handsome demon, the two strike a deal and end up bound to one another. The two will slowly fall in love, if they don't cut each other's throat first.
This book reminded me of Sarah J Maas a lot and I found the characters likable and felt very calm while listening to it. It definitely has cozy romantasy vibes but the cliffhanger left me reeling and the pace of the plot moved too slowly for the first half of the book.

This book was highly entertaining even though its starts slowly, the voice actors were AMAZING, and I loved the cozy vibes from this book and the found family.
The emotional build up is pretty great and I loved the gargoyles and Asmo’s cousin.
The female main character was great too, she was brave, kind and compassionate.
3.5 ⭐️

"A Fated Vow" by Amanda Aggie is an absolutely enchanting read that had me captivated from the very first page. The author masterfully weaves a tale of love, destiny, and the bonds that tie us together, creating a narrative that feels both fresh and timeless.
The characters are richly developed, each with their own unique backstories and personal struggles that make them relatable and endearing. I found myself deeply invested in their journeys, especially the chemistry between the protagonists. Their connection is palpable, and it beautifully illustrates the concept of love that is meant to be. Aggie's writing style is fluid and engaging, with vivid descriptions that paint the scenes in my mind. I could easily imagine the settings, from the cozy, intimate moments to the grand, sweeping backdrops of their adventures.
What truly sets "A Fated Vow" apart is its exploration of fate versus free will. The tension between the characters' choices and the pull of destiny adds a layer of depth to the plot. I appreciated how Aggie tackled these themes with nuance, allowing readers to reflect on their own lives while immersed in this engrossing story.
The pacing is spot-on, balancing moments of intense passion with quieter, introspective scenes that made me pause and reflect. Just when I thought I had the story figured out, Aggie threw in twists that kept me on the edge of my seat, eager to see how everything would unfold.
Overall, "A Fated Vow" is a heartfelt and passionate tale that will resonate with anyone who believes in the power of love and destiny. Amanda Aggie has outdone herself with this one, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. It’s a five-star read that I’ll be coming back to again and again!

It was my first time reading/listening to one of Amanda Aggie's books. Overall, it was nice but it didn't live to the expectations of the advertising (e.g., it was said to be "for fans of ACOTAR") and some of the thropes, mainly the enemies-to-lovers one. I feel like the enemy phase was pretty brief and they became (unromantically) attached very early in the story which then developped to lovers.
I feel like it's more of a cozy fantasy than anything else as there is not much happening in the story. I expected more actions from the advertising and summary of the book. If it had been advertised as a cozy fantasy, my expectations would not have been the same.
But as I said, overall it was a nice read and I am intrigued about what is going to happen in the next book!
Thank you to NetGalley and Tantor Audio for the ALC.

This book had me cackling. “Most notorious sack of potatoes.” LOL. But really it was so fun and so well written. The narration was chefs kiss also!
