Prince Jaul finds himself in a predicament where he must marry, but before doing so, he needs to divorce Chrissie Whitaker—the woman he once loved, yet betrayed him by abandoning him during his darkest moments and taking his father's money. Chrissie, who was left alone and pregnant with twins without any explanation from Jaul, wants nothing to do with him. Unbeknownst to her, Jaul never actually left her. He suffered a tragic accident that left him in a deep depression and confined to a wheelchair for months. When Jaul discovers he has children, he becomes determined to claim them and reunite with Chrissie. However, the question remains: Can they both forgive and forget the painful past they endured?
While the book was readable and allowed me to breeze through it quickly, it lacked the spark that captivated me in Lizzie and Cesare's story, which I read just a month ago. I eagerly dove into this one, hoping to have all the details fresh in my mind. However, at times, it felt somewhat lackluster, I'm sorry to say. Despite the abundance of sexual attraction and deep-rooted conflicts caused by numerous misunderstandings between the characters, something seemed missing, leaving me with an almost indifferent feeling.
