One of the craziest revenge stories I have ever listened to. The only character I liked at first was Murphy, the dog. Don’t worry he doesn’t die! When you have a bunch of characters all trying to get some kind of revenge and keeping secrets and pretending to be someone or something they are not you end up with a book you won’t want to stop listening to until you figure out who succeeds and how.

I absolutely could not stop listening (audio version) to this book! Add it to the list of Jaime Lynn Hendricks hits - this girl is on fire!

So many twists and the whole time, never knowing who could or couldn't be trusted. An epic tale of revenge gone sideways, upside down and inside out. This book had me guessing and trying to figure out connections the entire time. It was perfection!

The audio narration was excellent and added to my overall enjoyment. Definitely a HOME RUN! Put this on your summer reading list for sure!

Thank you NetGalley! I love this author and was happy to be able to read and review this new book by her. This is my second audio book by her and it did not disappoint. The narrator really helps set the story with her character impressions including accents.. I love the build up with shifting between characters as well as timeframes.

WOW. I wish I had recorded my face when I got to that ending—jaw on the floor! I did not see that coming. This book had me hooked from the first chapter and never let up. It’s fast-paced, twisty, and completely lived up to the hype I’ve been seeing all over my Bookstagram feed. Now I get it!

Also, shoutout to the audiobook narrator—she understood the assignment. Her performance made the story even more addictive. This one is going to blow up on release day, no doubt about it!

I have read every single one of Hendricks books and she’s continues to be my go to thriller author. A down-on-her-luck waitress at a posh New Jersey country club, Kim Valva couldn’t be living a more different life from the carefree socialites she serves. Her live-in boyfriend recently cheated on her, her social life is in shambles, and her dog needs a life-saving surgery that she can’t afford. Then her luck seems to change when a mysterious figure identifying themself only as The Stranger contacts her with an offer she can’t refuse: Put a pill in the new member’s drink and, when he dies, she’ll have enough money to fix her dog and her life.

Her target turns out to be Tony Fiore—Kim’s bad boy ex-boyfriend from high school. Fifteen years have passed, and he now goes by Anthony Fuller. He’s cleaned up, made tens of millions, and his gorgeous fiancée, twenty-two-year-old PJ Walsh, is on his arm.

PJ had her own agenda from the second she met Anthony. Find him, trick him, marry him, kill him. It was supposed to be easy, but she finds that while living her double life, the lines blur between who she is and who she’s pretending to be.

Stunned to see Tony again, Kim can’t bring herself to go through with spiking his drink. Instead, it is PJ who dies horrifically at the table just as dinner ends. Was someone else at the club—member or worker—tasked with poisoning PJ just as she had been instructed to do to Tony? Who would want both of them dead? With no one to trust and The Stranger to answer to, Kim must peel back the layers of deceit to reveal a deeply buried truth, more shocking than she could ever imagine…

I love a good revenge story and this did not disappoint! There was action right off the bat, which I always appreciate. Well-paced and entertaining from start to finish. I was stumped throughout the entire book! If you’re looking for a thriller that’s not too dark, this is a perfect pick. Quick, easy and entertaining.

4.1 rounded down to 4.

Wow! There were so many twists in this book, I truly had zero idea what was going to happen next! Now the question is... how far would you go to save your dog?! The narrator did an absolutely fabulous job telling this multiple POV, dual-time line thriller!!

Their Double Lives - Jaime Lynn Hendricks
Pub Date - 5/20/25
Rating - 3/5
Pacing - Fast

Thoughts - Thank you to Netgalley, Jaime Lynn Hendricks, and MacMillan Audio for this gifted advanced listener copy in exchange for my honest opinion. I went in completely blind with this book, and from the beginning of the audio, I was hooked. The story centers around Kim, a waitress who desperately needs $10K to save her pup and best friend Murphy. She was asked by "the stranger" to kill a guest at the country club she works at and was offered $20K to do it. When Kim discovers that the target is her high school sweetheart Tony, she decides she can't go through with it. While she serves the table, Tony's fiance, PJ collapses and dies suddenly. The reader goes into a tailspin trying to figure out what is going on and why. There is loads of drama and fun in this story, which I really enjoyed.

The only reason I didn't give this a higher rating was because there was no real suspense. It feels like I was reading what happened in the story, while being able to correctly guess all facets of the story. Definitely entertaining and a quick listen/read.

The narrator for Their Double lives did an excellent job. I found the story overall to be fine. There were a couple of twists that were good, but the premise of being willing to kill someone to pay for your dog’s surgery was a little far fetched to me. The writing was good, but I think overall this book just fell a little flat for me.

The novel follows two main characters, each living a double life, with intricate plot twists that keep readers on edge. Hendricks expertly weaves a story filled with tension, intrigue, and unexpected revelations, making it a captivating read for fans of psychological suspense.

The book’s strength lies in its well-developed characters, especially in exploring how secrets can shape relationships and personal choices. “He’d really make a great boyfriend.”

“I’m no goddamn man maid!”

“He may be a cheater but…”

Thanks to Jaime Lynn Hendricks, HighBridge Audio and Scarlet for my #gifted copy of this #audiobook

So far I’ve read #findingtessa and #alovelylie and loved both of them. So surprise I enjoyed this one as well.

People just planning to unalive people galore in this one.

The reveals were expertly timed and so well written.

Although there were a lot of characters, by the end of the book I felt I knew each of them personally. I love when an author can write like that. It’s a skill you’ve gotta have when writing a book like this and JLH def has that skill.

This is one of those books where as you’re reading you’ll be like “…annnnd the plot thickens….” So many entangled bad people in these pages and murder is always the answer to any problem.

Highly recommend this compulsive read! Finished in a day!

Okay. I have to give it to Jaime Lynn Hendricks. This was a great book!
Picture it: a waitress at a posh New Jersey country club who desperately needs cash to save her sweet puppy. This dog is her EVERYTHING. A mysterious caller, "The stranger," gives her an offer of earning all the cash she needs, with the catch that she has to slip a pill in one of the patrons' of the country clubs. Her target, Tony Fiore, aka Anthony Fuller, and one of Kim's (FMC) ex-boyfriends. However, this task goes deadly wrong, and the person who dies is the fiance of Anthony.
Then you are taking on an adventure of trying to figure out the mastermind of this revenge plot.
Dialogue is snarky, banter is there, and the reader has great chemistry with the main characters.
The plot is well structured and paced perfectly. Smart cliffhangers, cat and mouse games, and morally gray characters. Dual timelines are hard to do well, and Jaime has done this exceptionally well in this book. There is suspense for days!
The characters are well-developed and easy to connect with even though there is so many morally gray things that pop up.
Grab your popcorn and hang on for this one! Great book if you want a quick, suspenseful thriller that makes you root for the "somewhat" nice characters!
Thank you, NetGalley and Jaime Lynn Hendricks, for the opportunity to review this ARC!
Happy Reading!

I loved every freaking second of this audiobook. I loved the characters, loved the dynamics, loved the twists! 5 big stars for this one!

I have been bored with thrillers lately and this one was so entertaining. The title truly captures all of the characters. Everyone is so out to get revenge or want something. I love seeing the motivation with character for what them to do what they wanted to get done.

I don't want to give anything away but I love how everyone has a motive. I devoured this audiobook in a sitting. Emma Love did such a great job with the different voices for each of the POV.

Thank you @scarletsuspense @highbridgeaudio for a copy of this audiobook.

Their Double Lives by Jamie Lynn Hendricks is a gripping thriller that had me hooked from the first page. Fast-paced and cleverly constructed, it delivers a fresh take on the “revenge” trope with a structure that keeps you guessing. The final twist was especially satisfying—smart, surprising, and well-earned.

The only drawback for me was the audiobook version, which featured a single narrator despite the story unfolding through multiple POVs. While the performance was solid, having multiple narrators would have added more dimension and really brought the characters to life. This is one of those stories I think would shine even more in physical or eBook format.

Overall, a compelling and sharply written thriller that’s definitely worth the read.

I m not just saying this because I believe Jamie Lynns need to stay together. I actually loved this. It was so good and twisty. I loved trying to figure out who did what. I liked every single character. I felt concern and compassion for them and I also had moments where I hated them! That is some amazing writing!
This is perfection.
I loved the narration too.

This was a fun and totally wild revenge mystery/thriller that I really enjoyed. I listened to it on audiobook, which was a great format—the narration was engaging, well-paced, and even had me laughing at times. I debated between 3 and 4 stars, but ultimately landed on 3 because, while I’d absolutely recommend it, I’m not sure the plot will stick with me long-term. It’s a perfect summer read: fast, entertaining, and full of drama, even if the twists weren’t especially shocking.

You definitely have to suspend disbelief—some moments are a bit far-fetched—but it’s still a thoroughly enjoyable ride. The story follows a woman who works as a graphic designer by day and night shifts at a country club, all while trying to figure out how to pay for her dog’s $10,000 brain surgery. Then one night, she’s offered money to poison a patron... who just so happens to be her ex. This was shockingly good.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced audiobook copy to review.

Thank you NetGalley and HighBridge Audio for this ALC! What a blast!
Kim Valva, a struggling waitress, is offered money by a mysterious stranger to poison a rich new club member—who turns out to be her ex, Tony. Unable to go through with it, Kim watches in horror as his fiancée dies instead. Caught in a web of lies and danger, she must uncover who really wanted them dead before she becomes the next target.
This book had everything I love in a mystery thriller, twisty timelines, clever cons, and that addictive “just one more chapter” vibe! I was hooked from the start and loved how the past and present wove together to slowly unravel the truth. If you're into suspenseful plots with sharp writing and shocking reveals, I highly recommend picking this one up!

🎧Song Pairing: Poison - Bell Biv DeVoe

💭What I thought would happen:

If this title doesn’t scream duplicity, I don’t know what does. Also, the cover is giving me PTSD to when I used to serve in university and had to set up the private rooms for functions for middle management beige people😑

📖What actually happens:

😈MURDER!
😱Whodunnit
🩷Vengeance
🐶Sick puppy
💵Evil millionaire

🗯Thoughts/sassy musings:

I associate this author with a solid thriller, never disappoints, never amazes. But grab the popcorn and kick back. I love that in a book.

I’d say it rolled out exactly as I’d imagined. I was predicting (hoping) for a better twist but again, still perfectly yeehaw here we go.

The ending was quite abrupt that I went to have a pee while listening and by the time I was done tinkling all was tied up in a pretty satin bow. The end. I was like oh ok…let me pull my panties up.

Anywho, grab it and go have an iced latte in the park..
