ARC reader!!!

This book was so incredibly magical and had such feel good vibes about it, it was fast paced so you couldn’t get lost, and there wasn’t a moment where I felt bored!! I really like how the two main characters; Anya and Darcy, grew together and developed into confident characters who knew what they wanted, it was a change from the beginning when they were both trying to figure out who they are and what they wanted to do. Overall, I really really liked this book and I can’t wait to get a physical copy and annotate it!!!

"It's very cute. She's very cute. Whatever." This book was SOOOO fun and cute!! It was exactly what I imagine a snickerdoodle cookie would be like as a book; sweet, wonderful, and the coziest fall story ever 🧡🍂

I wish I had picked this book up when I actually had the time to dedicate to sitting down and reading it in one sitting (the method of reading I reccomend most for this book), however when I did sit down today and read the last 70% of this book I couldn't stop. This book is a super fast and fun read that had me hooked the whole time.

Fableview alone could have made me read this book. This fictional town is exactly how I imagine Stars Hollow would be if it's citizens were obsessed with fall and some of them were real witches. The cozy fall vibes were strong and magical in this book, not to mention the witch aspect you get with Anya's coven.

I would say that it is really difficult to find a book where I loved every charecter, but I somehow loved them ALL in this book (we don't talk about Julia). Darcy and Anya are one of my favorite book couples ever and they were definetly my favorite sapphic book couple. Not only was their grumpy/sunshine dynamic absolutely adorable, they also just had such good chemistry and the banter was SO GOOD. Not to mention seeing both POVs and what they were thinking was precious.

While friendship wasn't the most important thing in this book being that it is a romcom, I loved all of the friendship so much. You get a peak at it just through Falbeview's tigh-knit community and how involved everyone is, but the real beauty of it is Darcy, Anya, and Grace's friendship. It didn't take away from Darcy and Anya's love story, there was just also really sweet and heartfelt friendship between the three girls.

I reccomend this book to anyone and everyone because it was really just that good and every should get to feel the magic that this book and Fableview was 💜💜💜💜💜💜

A moment for the cover… oh my GOD??!! This book had all the right ingredients for a cozy fall romance!! It had witchy vibes, small-town charm, and a sapphic love story. Set in the enchanting town of Fableview, it follows Darcy, the energetic hometown girl, and Anya, the quiet newcomer who might just be carrying a little bit of actual magic. I loved the queer rep and the dual pov that allowed for a look into both Darcy and Anya’s thought process while they navigated their feelings. The Fall Festival may be the main event, but it’s the tender build-up between the two FMC’s, that’s the real show.

I really loved the premise and adored the atmospheric setting (honestly, Fableview deserves its own show!). The vibes were quite literally immaculate… think crisp leaves, glowing jack-o’-lanterns.. think Halloweentown!! While I appreciated the emotional arc and soft moments between the FMC’s and side characters, there were times the pacing felt a little uneven, and I found myself wanting just a bit more spark or depth in the romance.

Still, if you’re in the mood for something low-stakes and seasonal with a dash of magic and a whole lot of fall feels, this is a sweet one to cozy up with!

this is the most perfect light hearted, sweet sapphic romance that gives all the spooky season vibes! this cast of characters is so wonderful and there was someone for everyone. the topics of coming of age, responsibilities, and belonging within a family/community were well executed. and of course the setting was the most perfect small spooky town. so witchy and whimsical! this is such a delight to read and i definitely recommend if you want a light romance for spooky season that emphasizes the importance of finding yourself and belonging in community.

thank you to the author, publisher and netgalley for an ARC in exchange for my review!

Everything She Does is Magic by Bridget Morrissey follows Darcy, a resident of Fableview since birth, and Anya who is new to town. Fableview is absolutely obsessed with Halloween, celebrating for the entire month of October. Darcy has always thought that witches are make-believe but they are very much real - and Anya happens to be one. In order to be initiated into her coven, Anya must have a mortal swear to protect her. Friendless, she lies to her family that Darcy, her crush who she’s never spoken to, will do the job. As the two become fast friends and something more, the two girls grapple with their futures - does Darcy really want to stay in Fableview for life? Does Anya want to be a witch forever?

This book takes the sunshine x grumpy trope to a new extreme. It’s a trope I love when the characters have other traits as well, but Darcy and Anya barely did. I did relate to Anya’s difficulty making friends and social anxiety on a deep level though. I wish Darcy had more to her as well.

If I hadn’t known the author was Bridget Morrissey I definitely wouldn’t have guessed. While the romances felt developed and thoroughly explored in her adult romance novel Anywhere You Go, the romance here felt rushed.

There were things I enjoyed though - it’s a really fun premise for a book and made me excited for Halloween. Grace is such a fun side character. I’d read a whole book following her schemes.

I think part of my problem with this book and other YA titles I’ve been picking up lately is that they feel a little too surface-level. Maybe I’ve outgrown YA books and it’s unfair of me to keep picking them up. But for every three lackluster YA books I pick up, I find a five star. And they sound so good! We’ll see.

Super cute romance novel, gave me teen witch vibes. Loved the sweet romance, combined with a differing coming of age tale. I appreciated how it was a young adult novel and stayed young adult, I'd have no hesitation recommending this book to my kids to read, and other kids as well. A few parts did seem to drag, like extra long unnecessary descriptions, but otherwise the writing was great.

If you're looking for a cute and cozy romance to get into a festive fall mood leading up to Halloween, Everything She Does Is Magic might be just what you're looking for. While I would have liked a bit more emotional depth out of some of the plot beats, these characters have really fun chemistry, and this was a very enjoyable read!

🔮 Bookish Thoughts
Everything She Does Is Magic is such an adorable witchy sapphic YA. It gave major Halloween Town energy and I was obsessed. I seriously want to move to Fableview.

Anya and Darcy were so cute together, even with all the miscommunication. The story really leaned into coming of age themes and tackled family expectations in a thoughtful way. Both girls had to learn how to be honest with their families and each other.

If you're looking for a cozy, low angst Halloween read with small town charm and just a pinch of magic, this one’s for you.

🎃 What to Expect

I had such a good time with this one. Everything She Does Is Magic is a cozy and charming YA sapphic story set in a town that celebrates Halloween all month long, and I was immediately obsessed with the vibe.

Anya and Darcy were so easy to root for, with a sweet connection that built naturally as they came into themselves. The romance was heartwarming, the setting was pure fall magic, and I adored the side characters Grace and Kyle.

I’m hoping we get more stories set in Fableview because I’m definitely not ready to leave this witchy little town behind. I rated it 4.25 stars!

Spoiler-free reviews have been left on Bookmory, Fable, Goodreads, StoryGraph (all linked below), and in a few hours a slideshow-style review will be left on Instagram @coleythesapphic and TikTok @holymolycoleyoley.

This review is just for the author, publisher, and NetGalley and contains spoilers to share my personal thoughts on the characters, plot, scenes, etc.

Everything She Does is Magic is a tender, witchy sapphic YA romance set in Fableview, a small town where every day is Halloween. It’s a story about falling in love, but also about finding yourself when everyone thinks they already know who you are.

What stood out immediately was how many passages I highlighted. The writing has a quiet, emotional power. Lines like, “This is what I will miss the most if I ever get the chance to actually leave Fableview—the permission to be powerful without any box needing to be checked,” perfectly capture the theme of identity outside of labels and expectations.

Darcy and Anya’s relationship starts with such a clever magical twist on fake dating. Anya’s lie to her coven, claiming Darcy as her “protector,” sets up the perfect slow burn. Their dynamic is tender and age-appropriate. The romance is soft, full of yearning, and built on emotional intimacy more than anything physical. Keeping the spice at kisses only worked beautifully for a YA story about teens.

Spoilers ahead for things I loved:
• The fall festival scenes were some of my favorites. The pumpkin patch party and apple bobbing contest were charming and set the perfect seasonal tone and added just enough tension to make me wonder where it was all going.
• The Ferris wheel callback hit me hard. Darcy reflecting on holding hands in sixth grade and realizing it was never about the boy but about being seen and chosen by someone: “…we held hands on the carnival’s Ferris wheel. It was the most illicit, overwhelming thrill of my sixth-grade life. Even then I knew it had nothing to do with Kyle and everything to do with the fact that someone wanted to claim me too, wanted to hold my hand as we looked out at the dark together.” Such a beautiful moment of queer self-recognition that made me think about my own journey.
• Anya’s initiation stakes gave the story weight without losing the cozy tone. Watching her navigate loyalty to her coven versus her growing feelings for Darcy kept the tension high.
• I loved the moment when Darcy’s doubts about her future collided with Anya’s fear of belonging, and they finally chose each other. It tied into another line I highlighted: “…when I’m really in my feelings, joy seems like the saddest emotion of all.” That bittersweet edge to their happiness felt so real and reminded me of my own teenage emotions.
• The ending struck the perfect balance: Darcy choosing her own path instead of inheriting her parents’ Halloween empire while still leaving the door open for love and magic to grow. Grace’s progression from being irritated by Anya to becoming her protector and inheriting Pam’s Paints was such a satisfying side-character arc and more believable than any other option.

Everything She Does is Magic will land perfectly with readers who love sapphic yearning, small-town fall settings, and cozy witchy vibes. It gave me the same emotional resonance and some of the warm, magical small-town charm of The Lone Wolf Café by Sydney Wilder. It also reminded me of the atmospheric whimsy of Practical Magic. I'm so ready for fall after reading this!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC. This is one I’ll be recommending often.

📖Book Review: Everything She Does Is Magic by Bridget Morrissey
⭐️ 5/5
This book was so freaking cute and cozy; I adored every second of it. From the very first page, it had me craving crisp autumn air, Halloween magic, and warm drinks in a charming little town art shop. Bridget Morrissey perfectly captures the vibe of a quirky small town, complete with lovable locals, magical moments, and that feeling of being part of something a little bigger than yourself.

What really stood out to me was how beautifully friendship, family, and romance were all woven together. I loved watching the characters not only fall in love but also grow into themselves and each other. The romantic moments? Adorable. Like, giggling and kicking my feet levels of cute. The kind of swoony magic that makes you believe in love.

I honestly didn’t want to leave this world, and I’m really hoping we get more—Grace and Parker deserve their own book! If you're in the mood for a heartfelt, magical read that feels like a hug in book form, this one's it.

Maaaaaaaan….. Everything She Does Is Magic is so freaking cute! I have to say that Anya was my favorite from the start. I loved the way she talked about and described Darcy. It was so sweet! This book seriously made me so stinking happy. All of the characters were great. The flow was great. It was happy and light and Halloween themed! Who doesn’t love Halloween?? (If you don’t, you’re just lying to yourself. Lol) I think there was good character development, and nothing felt choppy. I have too many good things to say about this book. If you love Halloween, read it. Love YA? Read it. Love sapphic stories? Read it. You’re going to fall in love with all of the characters, even Aunt Cal! I can’t recommend this book enough, and I am so glad I was able to get the ARC from Netgalley. Add it to your TBR!!

What a great cozy sapphic Halloween read. I really enjoyed both of the main characters and their dynamic. My favorite character was Grace and I really grew to love her in the end. The town in the book gave the greatest fall vibes and now I’m wanting to read this in October with a hot apple cider. I feel nostalgic for Halloween when I was a kid/teenager because I’d do these fun events with friends and family.

this cozy sapphic YA grumpy/sunshine romance is super cute. the story is set in a small town that takes halloween very seriously, with actual witches. darcy and anya explore the roles that have been thrust upon them and the path they think they might prefer. the story includes some mild angst that could be expected from teenager shaking the bars of their families’ expectations, but no major drama. except maybe with almonds.

i would like to submit my formal application to move to fableview now, please.

I really enjoyed this cute and cozy sapphic romance novel which had the right amount of suspense and charming characters to keep me engaged. It had the same energy as Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1996) sans talking cat so I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a feel good humorous magical read. All the characters contributed nicely to the cozy community vibe and had strong messages about friendship, acceptance, and speaking your truth. The romantic components of the story had nice pacing and were sweet without being overly cringe, cheesy, or spicy. The representation in this book included queer, nonbinary, and Filipina characters.

Thank you Netgalley and Delacorte Romance for letting me read this eARC! I thought this story was so cute! Albeit a little bit predictable and cliche, I absolutely loved the setting of Fableview and the little found family of a friend group Anya found. I also liked the magic system a lot. While the romance did feel a little rushed and some of the conflicts didn’t have the highest of stakes, I still think this book is a great cozy sapphic romance for the Fall.

🧡 cozy small town
💚sapphic romance
💜 magical realism

I knew when I started this book that I was going to like it but I didn’t expect to like it THIS much. Anya and Darcy are heartwarming. I love that they are emotionally intelligent yet also age realistic. Seeing that there was so much more to each character than what was initially presented was one of my favorite parts. This book is like a beautiful combination of Gilmore Girls and Halloweentown (with less evil Kalabar’s running around). Highly recommend this wonderful book!

overall, i really liked this book! i liked both of the main characters- they both had different problems and struggles but used their weaknesses to compliment eachother! (if that makes sense?) i liked the paranormal aslect although it was very light. ill also say i maybe would have liked this better if i read it during september/october. i just rated it this way mostly because it wasnt super 'special' to me- in the nicest way possible! i also just didnt really connect with the characters as i might in a higher rated book. it was a fun, lighthearted read though so if that's what your looking for it's a great book! I got through this really quickly as well.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pure Magic in Every Page!

**Everything She Does is Magic** by Bridget Morrissey absolutely enchanted me from start to finish. This YA romance delivers everything you could want: a swoon-worthy love story, magical atmosphere, and characters you’ll fall head over heels for.

The relationship between Darcy and Anya is nothing short of perfection. Darcy, our beloved hometown princess, and Anya, the beautifully complex anxious witch, start their connection for practical reasons, but watching their bond evolve into something deeper and more genuine had me grinning like a fool. Their chemistry is off the charts, and yes, they’re absolutely one of the cutest couples I’ve ever encountered in YA fiction. The sweetness between them never feels forced or saccharine—it’s authentic and will have you rooting for them every step of the way.

But can we talk about Fableview? This small town setting is a character in itself and honestly stole my heart. Morrissey has created such a cozy, atmospheric world that perfectly balances small-town charm with witchy vibes. Every description made me want to pack my bags and move there immediately. The town feels lived-in and magical, creating the perfect backdrop for Darcy and Anya’s story to unfold.

If you’re looking for a book that combines romance, magic, and that warm fuzzy feeling of finding your perfect reading nook, this is it. Morrissey has crafted something truly special here—a story that will leave you believing in magic and the power of unexpected love.

**Highly recommend for fans of:** witchy atmospheres, small-town romance, character-driven stories, and anyone who needs more sweetness in their reading life.
