Jecki Jam and Yord Hoard rejoice! We have new Acolyte content!

The story mainly follows Jecki as she goes with Master Sol on a diplomatic mission to the planet Silene, along with Yord and his master, Master Elishe. The group is heading to Silene to smooth over an unintentional cultural faux pas caused by another Jedi master. When they arrive on Silene, they find out they’ve arrived just as the Crowning Convocation, a traditional event that determines the planet's next leader, is about to begin. To help the Jedi better understand Silenese culture, Jecki and Yord are invited to participate in the Convocation. The Convocation consists of three rounds: combat, survival, and the hunt. The only catch is, they can’t use their lightsabers or the Force.

Tessa Gratton did a fantastic job with these characters! Jecki was one of my favorite characters from the show and this felt like a great exploration of her character pre-Acolyte show. Same with Yord. I think Tessa nailed his mannerism perfectly. I don’t think I realized just how much I’ve missed these characters until I read this book. I hate that we’ve been deprived of a second season of The Acolyte but I’m very thankful for books like this to fill that void a bit. More Acolyte stories, please!

The Acolyte was one of the most daring and original series created by the Disney Star Wars machine. Unfortunately, it was cancelled before we got to learn more about alternative ways to view the Sith and the dark side. This however, gives us more backstory for the Jedi involved in the series and does it well.

I never thought we would see Yord Fandar and Jecki Lon ever again. When I heard about The Crystal Crown, I was skeptical about some sort of prequel that would be meaningless. After reading this, I can honestly say this book matters. The content is informative and engaging. I enjoyed every word, and my only complaint would be that I want MORE. MORE ACOLYTE. ALWAYS MORE HIGH REPUBLIC!
