Sunnyside was a really good read. The characters are doing their best to handle the chaos that surrounds their world (insane bureaucracy, aliens, terraforming, love and death and being promoted above your competency). Dircks writing is fast paced, funny (at times absurd), and involving, reminding me of his previous series "Where the Hell is Tesla?"

Sunnyside was my first novel by Rob Dircks and won't be my last! It's both funny and fast-paced, yet still manages to touch on some heavy topics related to grief, loved ones, and mortality. Plus, there are loads of cats; what's not to love? I bet the audiobook would be great.
I would love a sequel! Especially if Tasty & Skoop made a reappearance.
Recommended for readers who love comedy with their sci-fi.
Thank you to NetGalley and Goldfinch Publishing for the ARC.

I was so excited for this scifi story: futuristic human colonies, government conspiracies, and aliens to boot.
It was funny at some points, a little over the top ridiculous at others. Not overly thrilling, and definitely more slow paced than I had been expecting.
This was a good comfort read, something neutral that you can get lost in without being too emotionally invested.
