I am not certain why this is in the adult category. Well I guess it says new adult so maybe I am missing something. Is that supposed to mean young adult fiction? If that is the case then it makes perfect sense because it is written like adolescent fan fiction, which I do not have an issue with.
I thought that the book was fairly well written and the characters were very interesting and the work was engaging.
Some of the plot could have been better fleshed out and the first couple of chapters were a little slow for me because I have not read t previous entries in the series and was unfamiliar with the characters and the story as a whole, but it did speed up fairly quickly after that.

This was a strong eighth entry in the Ascension series, it had that element that I was looking for and enjoyed from the previous entries in the series. I was engaged with the characters and how it worked with the concept going on. L. Fergus wrote this perfectly and am excited for more. The element was everything that I was looking for and was glad I read this.

4.5 stars. More new Angels have joined the ranks. My favourite was Spades. I also enjoyed Kita's adopted daughter Ocean's character development as she strove to learn as much as possible and use that knowledge to shapeshift and develop her powers. There was excellent continuation of Kita's struggle with her bipolar--it added drama and showed other characters' true colours through their willingness to be there for Kita and help find a way to handle it.
