I have loved several of this author's previous novels however this short story did not hold up. For such a short story, it felt undeveloped. I will continue to read this author's long fiction but I don't think short fiction is there strength.
I requested this one because it might be an upcoming title I would like to review on my Youtube Channel. However, after reading the first several chapters I have determined that this book does not suit my tastes. So I decided to DNF this one.

Thank you to Brilliance Publishing for an ALC of Death Row. Here are my thoughts!
Talia is on death row for murdering her husband. She is just days away from her execution date when she thinks she sees her husband in the waiting room, soon she begins unpiecing the events leading up to the crime. Did she do it or is there something much more complex at play?
This is my first Freida McFadden read. I loved it. It is short and sweet and was very engaging to listen to and was haunting to imagine a convicted murderer telling this story. At first I was confident that Talia was the murderer but as she begins to reflect and tell her story my opinions shifted into uncertainty.
The details of the prison experience transported me, and I didn’t know how to feel about Talia’s punishment. For such a short novel, there are twists and turns abound. It has an ending that some people will love (like myself), or absolutely detest.
If her other writing is even close to this, I need to get my hands on several more Freida McFadden books ASAP. The perfect twisty mystery thriller that any bookworm could ask for!

Such a fun quick read!! I always enjoy a Freida book. She offers a fun amount of twists and turns while leaving me confused in a good way! Love how this book left me at the end. I thought I had it figured out, but Freida always throws me another turn. Loved it!

I'm such a fan of the popcorn thrillers that Frieda writes. This one threw me a little. I was confused at the end.
But let's step back for a moment. It has a great premise and I liked that it kept me guessing throughout the short story. Did this lady on death row kill her husband? Or maybe not.
I'm usually a fan of ambiguous endings but more so when there are multiple interpretations. But this one had me wondering what did I just read and did I understand any of it. I'll give this one some time but I am left with so many questions and very few answers.
Lauryn Allman narrates this one and she did a great job voicing Talia. I was glued to the audiobook up until the end and she was a big reason.

I was really loving this short — it was so well built and put together. The structure, the pacing, everything just worked, and it pulled me in right away.
It’s impossible to say much more without spoiling it, but there was a development that completely caught me off guard. I definitely didn’t see it coming, and it made the experience even more memorable.
Even though it’s short, it delivers in a way that stays with you. I’d absolutely recommend it to anyone who enjoys tight storytelling and unexpected turns.

I love Freida’s book. I found her books a few years ago and like most people I know who love her books too, I devoured them. It was very fast paced, it grabbed my attention from the very beginning, and had me on the edge of my seat all the way through. As always, Freida weaves her one-of-a-kind magic and throws in jaw-dropping plot twists and had me second-guessing everything I thought I knew and thought I had figured out.. Which is classic Freida and what I love most about her and her books. I highly recommend this! You won’t be disappointed!

Another addictive read by Freida!
As usual, her unexpected plot twist had my jaw on the floor. If you're looking for a super quick read (about 74 pages or 1 hour and 44 minutes on audio) than definitely pick up this short story from the queen of suspense. Not only was it wildly entertaining but it kept me guessing until the very end. The premise was unique and would make an excellent full length novel. The narration was great too!
Thank you NetGalley and Brilliance Audio for access to the audiobook in exchange for an honest review!

I love Freida’s writing and her audiobooks. They are always a nice cleanse in the middle of all my smutty romance. I really enjoyed this one and like always I thought I knew who it was and was totally wrong

I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about this one but tbh I feel like it was the perfect length and it grabbed my attention and got me hooked super fast.
I am still kind of confused with the ending and what exactly happened but it wouldn't be a Freida book if there wasn't some confusion. Overall I really liked it and Freida did it again with all her twists and turns.

I enjoyed this book! Great narration as well. Its hard to miss when reading Freida.
Thank you for the audio copy.
4/5 stars

This is a very short novella by Frieda McFadden. You can expect twists and turns around every corner. I did enjoy this story, but I so wished this was a full length novel. Lauryn Allman did a great job on the audio narration. If you are looking for a suspenseful fast read, then be sure to check this one out. Thank you Netgalley and Brilliance Audio for the ALC

All the twists you expect from McFadden in a less than 2 hour micropunch.
I just finished reading Death Row a Thriller book written by Freida McFadden. I read the AudioBook published by Brilliance Publishing. NetGalley gave me a copy of this book. I listened to this book on NetGalley. It is a stand alone book.
This book is a must read if you like: Freida McFadden, twists and turns, unexpected endings.
"I didn’t kill my husband."
As with any Freida McFadden book, describing the plot is difficult without spoilers. What I will say is her attention to detail in leaving hints and breadcrumbs for the crazy twist at the end is unparalleled.
The desperation and gradual unhinging of the main character is palpable.
I have loved everything I've read by Freida McFaddenand this was no exception.
This short story stands out because of the impeccable crafting of such a twisting storyline.
My favorite part has been discussing this ending with other people. There are so many different takes.
The narrator was very enjoyable
I loved this short story and have listened to it twice.
Content Warnings: Adult language, death, murder, and brief mention of rape.

I dropped everything the moment I got the email saying I’d been approved to listen to Death Row (Alibis Collection #1). Current read? Forgotten. Work? Procrastinated. Regrets? None. And let me tell you, it was so worth it.
Freida McFadden pulled the rug out from under me twice in the final minutes. I was left staring into the void, jaw on the floor, trying to process what just happened. I didn’t see that ending coming if it had walked up and slapped me.
I sprinted over to Freida’s website for the ending explanation, and lo and behold, my wild theories? Spot on.
This is hands down the best short story I’ve read all year. Clever, twisty, and fast-paced, it’s Freida doing what she does best, which is messing with our heads. And let’s not forget the cherry on top: Lauren Allman’s narration of the audiobook. She doesn’t just read the story. She launches you into it. Every line drips with suspense.
If you’re looking for a short, shocking, and utterly satisfying listen, Death Row delivers a full-throttle experience in under an hour.
Thank you to Brilliance Publishing and Amazon Publishing for gifting me this ALC through #netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

2.75
not much to say here! as always, freida packs a ton of twists and turns into her work! this is about 75 pages and it’s impressive how she set up a story and then also set up so many twists in a short time. at one twist i audibly said “WHAAAAT”
that being said, the ending didn’t really make sense and left me wondering what the truth was.

I’m still scratching my head thinking wtf just happened! I feel like I need more lol I like this style of writting better than I did for “The Tenant” and “The Crash”. Keep it coming Frieda!

Thank you NetGalley for the Audio ARC. This was a fun quick read I did in about 2 hours. I did NOT see the first twist. Very much Freida for me. If you are wanting a Freida style book that’s quick and straight to the point this will do it. 4⭐️

She’s on death row for the murder of her husband, but did she really kill him? As the minutes tick down towards her execution, Talia Kemper will stop at nothing to try to prove her innocence.
Wow. This is a complete fever dream of a short story, with a bonkers twist to boot! While short stories don't always hit the mark because of the lack of detail, I chose to go along for the ride with this one, and I ended up really enjoying it. The perfect palate cleanse, and so far, my fave of the series.

Freida does no wrong in my book. I always prefer a novel over a shorter story/novella, but in typical Freida McFadden fashion, this was so good.
Dual timelines with past and present POVs.
Story is layered, as you would expect with a Freida story.
Twist. Of course I thought I knew what was going to happen until the very end.. I don't even know how Freida McFadden does this and comes up with these things... but I love it!
Only Freida could twist me up the way she did in a novella.
The plot is well structured and paced extremely well.
The characters are surprisingly well developed for a novella.
Perfect for a quick summer read.
As always, I recommend anything by this author.
Thank you to the publisher, NetGalley, and the author for the opportunity to read this novella.
Happy Reading!

This book felt a bit like a Quentin Tarantino movie in the sense that it had a few twists at the end that made me wonder what was actually going on, and I loved it. A woman is on death row, as she recounts what had occurred with her and her husband before she was sentenced. This book was an amazing wild ride as each turn came, and you had to reconfigure what the wife was retelling. A great and interesting short story!

Ummmm, no.
What was this?!
I predicted the twists, hated the ending, and disliked every character.
Talia is on death row for murdering her husband who she swears she didn’t kill.
This was like a toxic fever dream where the characters didn’t know what was happening, the reader doesn’t know what is happening, it seems the author doesn’t know what happened.
I read other reviews and the consensus seems to be angry confusion so I’m glad it is not just me.
Audiobook arc gifted by publisher.
