Big Sally Hepworth fan here. While I love her novels more, she definitely knows how to tell a great short story! Even with a minimal number of pages, she finds a way to get you hooked from the start and throw a plot twist in there.

If Hepworth’s story is any indication of how the complete collection is, I can’t wait to dive into the rest of them.

Superb short story featuring the death of Celebrity Chef in Melbourne. When Ian Curley's body is found in his famous restaurant's walk-in fridge, the police need to interview all the suspects from the night before. The list includes his three of ex-wives as well as other family members and waitstaff. It becomes clear quickly that Ian had plenty of enemies and everyone in the restaurant had some sort of motif. The question is who did it and why. Delightfully written by Hepworth and read with an authentic Aussie accent by Anthea Greco!. #antheagreco #alibis #theexwivesclub #sallyhepworth #brilliancepublishing

What a fun witty short story from the amazing Sally Hepworth I loves the thriller and mystery at its core as well as the Ex wives who all had motives and plenty to hide this hook has many suspects and a great ending. Books like this show that a short story can work if it's done by a talented author that will sacrifice length but nevwr depth of character or plot. This was a great time and I really enjoyed it.

The Ex-Wives Club by Sally Hepworth offers a quick and worthwhile read. I found the story well-structured and fun, though I was left wishing for more when it was all over. Despite this, it's an entertaining book worth its short length.

Celebrity chef Ian Curley is found dead in his walk-in freezer. The prime suspects are his three ex-wives, who meet up every Friday evening in their favorite corner booth of his restaurant. It’s a tradition for Anita, Mary-Jane, and Rosie to drink, dine, and commiserate. But commit murder? All aggrieved, each one has a motive and an alibi. And a brilliant detective has reservations. Who did it? The night will tell.

The Ex-Wives Club is part of Alibis, a collection of stories about lies, truth, and deception. It’s just a matter of what you can get away with.

I really loved the concept and idea of The Ex-Wives Club and really enjoyed the ex-wives themselves. The different perspectives added such an interesting part to the story, not to mention the chapters that feature interviews. The way these chapters aligned with the character being followed at that moment was a thoughtful touch. However, I struggled to connect with the male characters. Despite the story's short length, I was hoping for a bit more character development with such great cast of characters.

Sally Hepworth's The Ex-Wives Club was such a quick and worthwhile read, perfect for a single sitting. I really appreciated the twists and turns scattered throughout the plot, but unfortunately, the ending felt underwhelming. While I'm all for justice served to an unsavory character such as Ian, the resolution left me wanting more. Those in-charge of solving the case seemed to give up a bit too early, which made the conclusion feel unsatisfying. It was an unique and fun premise that didn't quite hit the mark for me.

The audiobook was narrated by Anthea Greco and was fantastically read.

This was a good quick read. Everyone was a suspect! But the ending was so good the way it played out. Never expected it to go that way. Great twist! The narration was well done and I enjoyed the accent.

Sally Hepworth is one of my favourite thriller authors so I was really excited to read this new short story by her. The Ex-Wives Club is a good story. I liked the twists in the story and it’s a quick read that can be read in one sitting. I liked the large age span of characters. The audiobook narrator Anthea Greco was great! This makes me even more excited to read Hepworth’s next full length thriller!

This was how a short story should go! Fast paced and yet you still were invested in the characters and wanted to know who dun it! Great read.

Celebrity chef, Ian Curley, is found dead in the freezer of his restaurant. The prime suspects are his three ex-wives, Anita, Mary-Jane, and Rosie, who, despite everything, have a standing Friday night dinner date at Ian’s restaurant.

As a massive Hepworth fan - and with this being a short - I expected it to be fast and fantastic - and it was! The multiple POVs and flashbacks are woven together seamlessly, giving quick but full insight into a fairly large cast.

Three ex-wives being besties isn’t the norm, but it’s not impossible either, and I loved seeing that sense of female comaraderie play out. (Also loved this dynamic in The Third Wife by Lisa Jewell.)

The audiobook narrator was a perfect match - her soft Australian accent captured the tone beautifully. It’s the first time I’ve come across her, and after a little Googling, I found out she does a lot of video game voice work, which is very cool!

I have to say, coming in at under 2 hours and 100 pages, this domestic thriller packs in a lot: suspense, humor, charm, and a great villain! I had so much fun with it and am delighted to give 5-stars!!

This light, easy, and wildly entertaining domestic thriller is perfect for thriller lovers - and a great entry point if you're thriller-curious. I enjoyed it so much, I’m diving into the rest of the Alibi series now!

Thanks Brilliance Audio for the gifted audiobook!

A short review for a super short audiobook- just under two hours, so the perfect slump buster or palette cleanser!

I love Sally Hepworth and while this was fun, it obviously didn't hit as hard as a full length novel,.

That being said, the ideas was brilliant and I'd definitely read a whole book with this plot or even watch a movie with it!

Ian Curley is an arrogant, womanizing chef who gets his just desserts (ha ha) in this snappy, mysterious short story. Ian’s three ex-wives get along famously and even meet for dinner at his restaurant every Friday. When his dead body is found in the walk-in freezer, there is no shortage of suspects, with the ex-wives at the top of the list – but everyone has an alibi!

I love these short Amazon Original stories as a palate cleanser between longer reads. This one clocks in at only 84 pages (under two hours on audiobook), but Sally Hepworth still manages to pack in a sizeable cast of characters with plenty of motives. It’s a fun little read, and when Ian gets what’s coming to him, it’s so satisfying!

Thank you to Amazon Publishing and Brilliance Audio for the advance copy of this audiobook.

Three Ex-wives, turned friends, meet every Friday at their ex- husbands’ restaurant. However, when Ian Curley is found dead, the three exes soon become the prime suspects. Are their bitter divorces to blame? Or was it neither of them?
