This was a fun romp, and a bit of a genre defying novel. There is romance! There is murder! There is mystery! There are tech billionaires! There are family connections.
It has a lot.
It was fun to listen to, nothing really unexcepted, but fun.

I have been missing out by not reading a Holly James book! This book was so much fun to listen to! I loved the humor. The mystery was fabulous. There’s even some suspense. A little bit of romance. This book is the whole package!
This is was like reading an amazing Jennifer Crusie/Bob Mayor book! I am completely hooked on this author. It was well written with a crazy amount of conflict and mystery to keep me listening from start to finish. It all starts with a dead body and the plot just went crazy from there. I absolutely adored Penny. She’s hilarious. Life just continued to get worse for her and Anthony, and I was here for it! Lila Winters did a wonderful job bringing Penny to life. I received this book from Dreamscape Media and Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

When Penny's sister drags her to an estate sale, she doesn't expect to fight over a pair of candle sticks with the gorgeous new neighbor, Anthony, or discover a dead body in his closet. With plans to make tenure this summer, Penny cannot afford to look into the next-door neighbor or the dead body that seems so familiar. However, when the wrong people believe she is Anthony's girlfriend, Penny finds herself on the run. Penny must find out what information Anthony is hiding and why the people after them will do anything to get that information.
The Big Fix was a fun, action-packed romance. This book was a little insta-love for my liking. However, I did enjoy the chemistry between Anthony and Penny and the hilarious banter between the two while they were on the run. I also enjoyed the mystery of the missing person case and how it was connected to Anthony (and now Penny). Overall, this was a fun romance that I devoured in a day and would recommend to readers who like a little action with their romance.
Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to review The Big Fix. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The cover art and concept hooked me instantly! If you loved movies like Knight and Day or books like the Blonde Identity, this one is for you!
Where this story fell flat is 1. It was extremely predictable, and 2. I just didn’t feel the chemistry between the main characters and didn’t find them ending up together long term super believable.
We were told multiple times the characters had chemistry, but that was never really shown through the writing.
This was a good time! If you don’t take it too seriously, you will enjoy it!

Thank you to NetGalley and @DreamScapeMedia for this ALC, in exchange for an honest review.
The Big Fix by Holly James is an absolute ride from start to finish. What starts as a simple estate sale turns into a full-blown adventure when Penny Collins—reserved, bookish, and definitely not the action-hero type—finds herself in a very public argument over candlesticks with a stranger…right before a dead body quite literally drops into the picture.
Instead of spending her summer securing tenure as a computer science professor, Penny ends up dodging bullets, scaling walls, and accidentally stabbing people (oops). The problem? Some very dangerous individuals think she’s the girlfriend of the annoyingly charming Anthony—the same guy from the candlestick debacle—and that she’s holding onto something they *really* want.
This audiobook is the perfect mix of rom-com and mystery, packed with humor, action, and just the right amount of slow-burn chemistry. It completely caught me off guard in the best way, and I couldn’t put it down. Definitely can't forget the narrator Lila Winters who did a phenomenal job bringing to life the character and their story.
If you love a story with quirky, lovable characters and fast-paced twists, The Big Fix needs to be on your TBR list. Holly James is definitely an author to watch!

This book was just a down-right good time! It had some of everything I love - humor, suspense, wit, twists and even a little romance. I didn't know what to expect going in but I was definitely not disappointed!
This would make the perfect beach read or listen. The audio narration was excellent and the fact that there was both a female and male voice just added to the level of enjoyment.
This book is a solid win. It deserves a place on every TBR list!

Perfect for Finlay Donovan fans!
The narrator did a great job narrating this story. I was engaged the entire time and I had to hard time pausing it.
Overall I enjoyed listening to the audiobook. From the start our main character is thrown into an investigation after her and her sister discovered a dead body at an estate sale. She quickly learns she knows the body and a person connected, who has gone missing. She teams up with the next door neighbor, who happens to be a fixer, to find the person responsible and clear her name.
I found the characters to be fun and the plot to be interesting. The two main characters had good chemistry and I liked watching how their relationship progressed. There was a small part that isn't interesting, but I can see why the author included it the way she did. It could have been written differently to keep the reader engaged.
Thank you Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.

This book was a fun one to listen to. I needed a break from all of my other heavy reads, and this book came at the perfect time. Penny gets herself into a pickle while attending an estate sale with her sister, turning into a murder mystery and a thrilling chase to run away.
The momentum from the estate sale to Vegas was filled with lots of layers despite the surprising situation Penny the protagonist is thrown into, with the romance angle with Anthony, despite the odds.
Uncannily, there were a lot of real moments which kept me wanting to keep listening, like Penny finding moments to ground herself before making momentous choices which could change the consequences at any moment. Penny stands out throughout the whole book.
I liked the listening experience of this too, pacing was appropriate for the flow of the book that kept me hooked till the end.
Definitely a fun summer read to pick up this summer.
Rating 3.75 stars.

This book was hilarious, romantic and suspenseful all at the same time. This is more of a lighthearted suspense as the two MCs are forced together into an absolute mess of a thrilling ride because the FMC just so happens to be his neighbor. I loved Penny and Anthony's relationship and how it grew. This was my first book by Holly James but she got me hooked in how she is able to tie together laughter, suspense and romance. Lila Winters did an amazing job narrating this novel and expanding on the emotions and suspenseful times. I really cannot wait to keep reading more books by Holly James.
Thank you NetGalley for this ALC in exchange for my honest review.

The Big Fix is an entertaining blend of suspense and romance that kept me hooked from start to finish. They embarks on a high-stakes adventure that combines witty banter, unexpected twists, and sizzling chemistry!
With its cover eye-catching cover and engaging storyline, this is a must read for fans of romantic thrillers with a perfect dose of humor and suspense.

If you are looking for a laugh out loud, enemies(ish) to lovers story with a great adventure and a fun cast of characters I would recommend you pick this book up. Also, audiobook lovers out there the fast pace of this book made it the perfect quick read.

This book was an absolute delight to read! It had everything I look for — engaging writing, memorable characters, and a story that stayed with me long after I turned the last page. The author’s voice is distinct and compelling, making it easy to get lost in the world they created, no matter the genre.
I'm incredibly grateful to the publisher for the early copy. It was such a joy to read this in advance, and I can’t wait for more readers to experience it. Highly recommend!

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I felt like the narration for this book was done quite well. The characters’ voices were easy to differentiate and I felt like she did a good job with male voices. As for the book itself, it was a really fun listen. If you enjoyed Tiana Smith’s The Spy and I and Mr. Nice Spy, or the Finlay Donovan series, then this book is for you. A great mix of suspense and romance. This will make a great summer read.

This was a good book and I did enjoy it but I will say I think its the kind of book you have to be in a specific headspace to have that level of comedy. It can come across a little cheeky and cute and the dialogue isn't bad but I will say reads very nieave and teenage vibes. A fun read and a easy read but nothing extra special in my opinion.

First thing’s first: thank you Netgalley for the ALC of this book!
The Big Fix by Holly James was a fun read! It had all the fun parts I love about the romance genre while also bringing in some fun action. This book was lighthearted, fast paced, a little campy, and funny- I had a good time! The narrator did a great job with this book and CAN WE HAVE A MOMENT FOR THE COVER ART???
I do wish that the author had leaned a little more into the camp of it all. I think it would have been a little more successful. The mystery of it all was a bit predictable but not necessarily in a way that detracted from the overall fun of the book. (At least for me, but I’m a romance reader not a mystery reader)! All in all I think this will be a great summer read for folks sitting poolside or on vacation!
3.75⭐️ rounded up to 4⭐️ for goodreads

Fun, quick romantic audio book. I liked Penny and grew to like Anthony as the book progressed. It was pretty predictable and cheesy, but that is to be expected!

⭐️⭐️⭐️.25
I immersion read for this book.
The narration was good. I enjoyed that there was one narrator…I do know that it is one POV. However the narrator does change pitch in their voice for the other characters, which I highly enjoyed.
I would give the narrator ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. I would definitely listen to more books narrated by Lila Winters.
The story…
The story’s starts off strong…a mysterious new neighbor and a body found during his estate sale!
Enter the FMC who is a professor trying to get tenure…I mention this because it’s is a point that is overly prominent. She is mistaken for the MMC’s girlfriend and gets pulled into a high stakes on the run experience.
The story was very predictable. I do feel that the high stress situations combined with the comedic relief did not work well with this story. The author made the FMC strong and smart but contradicts that with her seemingly naivety in these high stress situations.
Overall it was a good pallet cleanser. I would recommend this book to people who want something fast paced and funny.

The Big Fix by Holly James was not what I expected but it was definitely an enjoyable listen. Lila Winters is an excellent narrator.
When Penny, her sister, and her sisters two young children visit the neighbor's estate sale, they get way more than they bargained for. Penny's young nephew runs around the house, throwing caution to the wind and ends up opening a door with hidden secrets. This leads to a police investigation and people assuming Penny is the girlfriend of the deceased neighbor's nephew, Anthony.
Penny, who has one goal, to make tenure, does not have time for any of this. But unfortunately, the "bad guys" do not care. Penny finds herself in the middle of a huge scandal.
This was a fun, quick romance.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for my advance listen in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Big Fix is an action packed romance full of charm and humor. The plot gets going right away and it does not stop. There are dead bodies! Kidnappings! Mistaken identities! A damsel who can take care of herself, thank you very much! All of this makes for a fun read, but I do wish we got more of the actual romance and their developing relationship. This would be a great pool side read.
Lila Winters does an outstanding job with the narration.
