I really really enjoyed this book! I liked both our fmc Autumn and our mmc Jensen as individuals, and I think together they were a great match. I thought that both autumn and Jensen communicated really well, they spoke honestly with eachother about their feelings consistently throughout, which conveyed them to be both mature and emotionally intelligent, which was a breath of fresh air considering miscommunication is common in a lot of romance books!
In addition to this, I thought that their chemistry was there from the very beginning, their playful and flirty personalities matched really well from the moment they began their back and forth in the bar where they met. This chemistry continued throughout the story, and became utterly sweet and romantic when they spent time together (both on their fake dates and real ones) and I kept blushing at their wholesome and romantic interactions.
Honourable mention to Jensen as our mmc, he was down bad for Autumn from the moment he laid eyes on her, and thought of every opportunity to spend time with her and be the perfect gentleman, which was so sweet.
I thought the pacing of the story was just right, and I really enjoyed the presence of all of the side characters in this story. From the doctors at the hospital, to Autumn’s dads and Jensen’s friends, I thought they added to the story and made it more enjoyable (apart from Lily!)
The only thing that I didn’t enjoy about this book was the third act conflict. Firstly, I thought that the conflict shouldn’t have occurred the way that it did, I thought that Josh reappearing and being the cause of the conflict was clever, but the fallout with Jensen and Autumn was unnecessary.
Personally, I interpreted Jensen’s response to the revelation as a means to protect his and Autumn’s former arrangement, rather than him being discriminatory to Autumn and her previous job. And so I thought that Autumn pushing him for answers in front of his peers was unnecessary and out of character for her, and that they both could’ve left the room and discussed the matter privately, especially considering the whole way throughout the rest of the book they displayed such maturity with handling their emotions, so I thought this fallout was unnecessary and out of character. I also felt like everyone’s reaction was exaggerated, and Jensen was made out to be someone who he had already proved he wasn’t.
Finally I did not like Lily as a side character, in my opinion, it’s fine to be a protective best friend but I thought that she was a very narrow minded best friend to Autumn for many reasons; she continued to remind Autumn of her past heartache as a way to convince her not to give her true feelings a chance, despite Jensen and Matteo not being comparable at all, she also never cared enough to even ask any questions about Jensen as a person or how he treated Autumn, because she was so set in her own ways that Autumn should not date until after her BSN. There wasn’t a turnaround of this attitude either, she was just adamant that Autumn should reject Jensen, despite never interacting with him, and this never changed.
Up until the point of the third act conflict, this book was sitting at a 4.5 stars for me, but unfortunately the fallout of it and the way it was handled between the characters brought the rating down slightly, I appreciate that a conflict was necessary for this story, but I would’ve liked to have seen Autumn and Jensen resolve this together rather than break up completely.
Despite this, I really really enjoyed this book as a whole, and I loved Autumn and Jensen together from the outset. 99% of the characters were a joy to read about and definitely added to this story which I was grateful for. I will definitely be picking up a physical copy of this book when it comes out, and would love to read more from this cowriting duo in the future!
Thank you again to Netgalley for providing an arc of this!

First of all, thank You Netgalley and Pubisher for the ARC granted to me. This book was a cute cliche fake dating trope setting in hospital ambiance lighthearted and cozy vibes to read. I loved the narrative and it was my first touch with the author.

This was a cute rom com. I did like the premise of this book, I really did. However, I did not like the installs/love between them. Since they were lusting over each other from the start it wasn't really a build up over their relationship. Other than that I really loved it.

After reading several romances I was in the mood for another. I found this on NetGalley and was very excited for a medical oriented romance.
I’d never read these authors before but was happily surprised by this book!
Autumn is a nursing student and she’s got one year left in her program. She and her best friend have made a pact "no men before BSN" so they aren’t trying to meet anyone. Autumn works two jobs trying to make ends meet and is studying for her nursing program. She works at Plus One as a companion and also in a toll booth.
After being dumped by another employee at the hospital, Jensen signs up for Plus One to find a date to his medical awards ceremony. His break up was the talk of the whole hospital and he doesn’t want to show up solo to his big event.
Autumn fills in as his companion for the ceremony and plays his girlfriend. She’s strict about the contract for her role which means no sex, and physical touch only to sell their relationship when playing their parts. She’s surprised though by how much she enjoys his company and how attractive she finds him. I loved this book and Jensen and Autumn had such good flirting and banter. I enjoyed the medical aspect as someone in the healthcare field though it was quite a small part.
These two made for such a cute couple and I loved watching their story unfold. I’m not a huge fan of the third act break up but I still was a big fan of this book. Autumns dads were great characters!!

This was a really great read. The characters were well defined and multi layered. I know it’s probably not something most people review about but the editing was fantastic as well. I hate reading books where I find myself mentally correcting spelling and grammar errors. Anyway, this was a very fun read and I would definitely recommend it to my friends. 4.75 stars ⭐️

‘Just What the Doctor Hired’ by Amanda Nelson and Lisa-Marie Potter was an enjoyable read. I would rate it around 3.5.
However, I felt like it dragged at places, and had that Hallmark movie feeling to it.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the authors for the e-ARC.

A wonderful read!
This novel drew me in from the very first page and kept me hooked until the end. The characters were vibrant and relatable, the writing was engaging, and the story had just the right balance of heart and humor. Highly recommend!
Many thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

I really wanted to enjoy Just What the Doctor Hired, but it just didn’t work for me. The premise was cute, but the characters felt a bit flat and the pacing dragged in places. There were a few sweet moments, but overall, it lacked the spark I was hoping for. Not terrible, just not very memorable.

This book was a cute love story. It was definitely an instalove situation but very romantic and sweet. Every girl wishes to find a guy like this in their life time. I liked that they had the female main character pretty much doing whatever it takes work wise to achieve her goals. Even though their big 'obstacle' they had to over come as a couple seemed very lack luster because it was something she should've already realized about him and he had a fair reaction to being called out. But if I was in the moment I could see both sides. All in all it was a very sweet and cute read.

Funny, witty banter that I love in contemporary romance. I really liked Autumn and Jensen as a couple. The only thing I really disliked about this book was the fat-shaming of Dan (Jensen’s best friend) from his own wife. It’s 2025, let’s not make anyone’s weight the primary descriptor for their character.

This sweet romance kept me hooked and turning pages! The chemistry, the obstacles, the rich character development - what a treat!
What a sweet romance. I was hooked and kept turning pages. There were obstacles and the characters were well rounded.
#netgalley-arcs I want to thank authors Amanda Nelson and Lisa-Marie Potter, and the publisher Wild Rose Press for an advanced reader copy of this book.

Thank you to Wild Rose Press for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
Autumn Haze has a motto no men until she has completed her bachelor of nursing degree, she has stuck to this so far. Autumn moonlights as a companion through Plus one to support herself through her degree. Enter Dr Jenson Edwards who is still moping after his last break up left him talk of the hospital, when he receives a best doctor award Jenson hires Autumn as his plus one for the ceremony. When they form a budding relationship Autumns resolve is tested and Jenson worries about what would happen if the truth is revealed that he hired Autumn as a companion.
I really enjoyed this book, the relationship between the leads felt very genuine and they were perfect for each other. Jenson is the perfect book boyfriend and so sweet, he compliments Autumn perfectly. I liked Autumn’s no nonsense best friend Lilly she was awesome. There isn’t much drama in this book until the end but it was a lovely gentle love story and I was routing for Autumn and Jenson all the way. Overall I would not hesitate to recommend this book, 5+ stars from me.

I really enjoyed this romance story. Despite being a successful and handsome doctor, Jensen has had his heart broken and can't seem to find a woman who is right for him. He hires Summer to be his girlfriend for a function, but when they meet, the chemistry between them is very real.
I really enjoyed their romance as it unfolded, and thought that they made a great pairing. I loved their story and thought that for the most part it was realistic and really drew me in. I was horrified by the way the whole insurance and paying for the hospital unfolded when she had appendicitis. I don't know how true that is, but it's monstrous.
I really enjoyed this book and I'd certainly be keen to read more in this series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and given voluntarily.

Jensen is a dream doctor with a good head on his shoulders and sexy eyes, he somehow is a great match to our girl Summer. Through obstacles and all they persevere.

Thank you to Amanda Nelson, Lisa-Marie Potter, and The Wild Rose Press for the opportunity to read an advanced reader copy of this book!
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this story and would rate it 3.5 stars. Jensen and Autumn had fantastic chemistry, and I loved the playful banter between them throughout. The side characters played a significant role in the plot, which made the world feel richer and more realistic. I especially appreciated the inclusion of Autumn’s two dads—they were hilarious and added a lot of heart to the story.
The third-act breakup was expected, but it didn’t detract from my enjoyment too much.
One small detail I wanted to note was the use of the name Gareth for one of the background characters. While it’s a minor point, Gareth is a Welsh name rather than an English one. The book seemed to imply it was English, and I think a brief clarification would have been a nice touch for accuracy.
That aside, I had a great time reading this and would definitely pick up more books by these authors in the future. I’m excited to see what they come out with next!

Thanks to Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for honest feedback.
This was a very Hallmark-esque read. At times cheesy and predictable, but overall enjoyable. However, the main characters did not seem to be grown adults working in a healthcare setting. They reminded me of high school or college students with their actions and dialogue. It was pretty hard for me to take them seriously. The one problem I always have when reading a male character's POV is if they are too able to describe female clothing or start romanticizing with too much vigor. Then I'm well aware the female author is behind the words and it pulls you back. Also, Jensen's ex girlfriend was ridiculous. It felt very "Real Housewives" antics whenever she was in a scene.

This was a great read! I love the premise of a date-for-hire that turns into something more! Autumn is a nursing student who is focused on one thing - getting her BSN. To maintain financial independence from her loving dads who she already feels have done too much for her, Autumn works a variety of jobs, all while going to school. One of these jobs is being a companion-for-hire, but this is not to be mistaken with an escort. Autumn provides her services as a date, making those who hire her look great at whatever events they’ve hired her to attend. Autumn’s been steadfast in her goals, that is until she’s hired to accompany a hot doctor, affectionately compared to McDreamy. Hot Doc Jensen might be the one thing that can make Autumn amend her goal of no men until her BSN.
This swoony romance is set in Seattle, and is perfect for those looking for the feeling the early seasons of Grey’s Anatomy provided. This is a quick read where the plot moves quickly, the banter is bantering, and the chemistry is tangible.

This book reads like a perfect episode of your favorite hospital drama tense, tender, and topped with a happy-ever-after (ish).
Our main protagonist
A nurse-in-training with a backbone of steel and a heart she’s scared to trust. She has been burned before and sworn off men for a good reason. While shes juggling school and working to pay her own way shes handed a surprise chemistry from a client her vow to never date again until she gets her degree is put to the test. But hey, love doesn’t always wait for the right shift.
Our male lead on the other hand is done with love to the point his friend pays for a blind date. Cue fake dating anyone??? And a best friend who might be a bit of a told you so :) but his wife is the absolute best character that I want as my IRL bestie.
The Vibe
Smart pacing, solid four-star plot, and just enough tension to keep your pulse racing. Every chapter feels keeps the plot moving and a HEA that actually lands.
Supporting Cast Highlights:
Amazing supportive dads making food and dropping emotional truth bombs.
A quirky best friend who knows exactly when to bring alcohol and tough love.
Friends who see the truth before he does—and push him to fight for his own happy ending. (and get his head in the game)
No Blood or gore in this one sweet for sure
Oh and there i football - I love me a girl who isn't afraid to show her love and passion for sports :)
Easy in on sitting read.

I devoured Just What the Doctor Hired in less than 24 hours — it was impossible to put down! As someone who lived in Seattle, WA, the setting immediately resonated with me, adding an extra layer of connection and authenticity to the story. Amanda Nelson and Lisa-Marie Potter crafted a charming, heartfelt romance filled with witty banter, relatable characters, and just the right amount of tension. The chemistry between the leads was electric, and the pacing kept me hooked from start to finish. Whether you’re a local or just love a well-written, swoon-worthy romance, this book is an absolute must-read! I will be adding my Tiktok review this weekend!
