A fake dating scenario with a happily ever after? Sign me up to read it!
Overall, I enjoyed the story. It was nice getting to know the character’s families and see those relationships grow for Jensen. I also had respect for Autumn’s character choosing to prioritize her career over a romantic relationship after she had been burned in the past. I would recommend this if you like an easy read with a sweet ending.

Thank you to NetGalley, book buzz & The wild rose press for a copy of the book in return for my unbiased review.
A great closed door romance read with a little sizzle. my first from the authors. Jenson, a paediatric doctor needs a date for a medical event in which his recent ex had been cheating on him with another doctor. Jenson hires Autumn through a 'plus one' service and the spark ignites from the get go.
Over a series of events, the chemistry continues to build, however they have both had difficult pasts and struggle to navigate their relationship initially. I also love Autumns dads, they are absolutely fabulous.
A great read if you love a medical romance, interspersed with sports references and a slow burn angsty romance.
💕 closed door romance (does have kissing)
🩷 golden retriever mmc
💕 strong, smart independent fmc
🩷 Medical references
💕 third act break up / interference

thank you NetGalley for this ARC!
this felt sooo hallmark! it was just your average fake dating, will-they-won’t-they romance novel. I didn’t feel like there was anything super special about this book. I definitely ate this story up but i feel neutral about it! the premise was unique, the companion for hire thing is something I havent seen before so that was a fun plot point. definitely cheesy and a little cringe at times. the characters felt a bit immature for their stated ages and I honestly didn’t feel a whole lot of chemistry but still a fun little read. 2.5/5!

❗️MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS❗️
Overall: I loved it A LOT. Every moment of it. It was beautifully written and the whole action, plot, ATE IT UP. I fell in love with the characters and their relationships were so sweet. The tension? Was there. One word: AMAZING (book).
Likes:
•the description, perfect, it wasn’t pure romance, but rather fiction. Which gave the book uniqueness and depth.
•the character development. I loved how the authors showed not only the beauty of characters, but also flaws. The plot when Jensen fucked up was perfect to show that we all make mistakes and that actions speak louder than words
•the social areas shown. I loved how we had different areas (the hospital, the football games, the Plus One work, Autumn’s college) and how they showed each perspective, we knew a lot but it wasn’t too much, just the right amount of description and details
•the romance. It was beautiful, pure romance. I loved how it clearly was love, not only physical attraction. Their relationship was perfectly balanced (ofc between love and lust)
Dislikes (not really)
I cannot say I have a dislike in terms of the literal book, but personal preference.
I WAS SO ANNOYED BY LILY (Autumn’s best friend). I get it she was on her side BUT OMG GIRL, JENSEN ISN’T LIKE MATTEO (Autumn’s ex). I hated how she compared so muchhhhh Jensen with her ex when he was COMPLETELY IN LOVE with Autumn. Omg, it ate my soul!
It was a great reading experience, I loved every moment. The trope was clearly shown (the fake dating) and the development of the characters and the world was perfect. The end? BEAUTIFUL.
I would recommend it 100%!! It’s a cute romantic story that touched my heart. If I could, it would give it more than 5 stars🫶🏻

It was a cute idea but I didn’t find the characters likable. Lilly was annoying and pushy, Autumn was so wish washy and Jensen was extremely problematic and so over the top. It was a quick easy read I finished it quickly but unfortunately did not connect with the characters.

I have a soft spot for the fake dating trope and this did not disappoint. Usually the 3rd act breakup annoys me but it was something that had to happen in this book and was dealt with in a very good way. Good character dynamics and I loved the two main characters.

Thanks to wild rose press and NetGalley for this arc!
I’m a sucker for a healthcare romance since I work in healthcare myself so naturally I gravitated towards this book! It was so cute. If you like the fake dating trope but aren’t a big fan of spice, this is for you!!!!

This book was giving such hallmark movie vibes, the fake relationship trope was lovely and I found myself desperate to read more. I particularly enjoyed the nurse/doctor element. The main characters as well as the side characters were great, I couldn’t help but find myself disliking a certain female ex!! Absolutely loved it

I really liked the premise of this. I love a good fake dating trope and liked the idea of Plus One dating turning into something more. Not usually one for a 3rd act breakup but this was necessary for the storyline.
Autumn felt a bit repetitive and stubborn when it came to Jensen originally. I get the whole not wanting to date while training to be a nurse as it was hard but surely the one person who would understand the needs of a health care professional was a Dr. In the end I did like how she stuck up for herself when Jensen didn't. Her relationships with her dads was so wholesome and I love the way they were so fiercely protective of her even with her career choice. I also liked the fact she was extremely independent and would rather work to pay her way through nursing degree.
Jensen, yes although he was a bit of an idiot, was a nice sweet character. I would have liked an expansion on his relationship with his mum and brother. Hes written in such a way that you're willing him and Autumn to be together as he is a genuinely nice person who takes his job so seriously in the children's wards.
I feel like both MCs characters could have more depth but they felt genuine throughout the book. I enjoyed the pacing of the book and there wasn't too much angst or slow burn.
I love that they got their HEA in the way that they did. Their relationship felt very natural despite how they met.
I did think there was some random moments like Autumns interactions with her roommate. I thought these were going to be key to the story but kind of fizzled out.
Overall a good read and I enjoyed it.
Thanks to Amanda Nelson, Lisa-Marie Potter, Wild Rose Press and NetGallery for the ARC in return for my honest opinion.
**Edited to add a little more to the review and change rating from 3.5 to 4 after further reflection**

I liked the plot of the story and will always be interested in a good healthcare romance. I adored Jensen’s character but I found Autumn unreasonably stubborn. I felt like there were parts of the book that were going to turn into a significant part of the storyline, but it didn’t. Like…every interaction with her roommate? Overall, I enjoyed the romance between Jensen and Autumn. And her dads were some of my favorite supporting characters!

2.5 stars
This book wasn’t for me. It was a sweet premise but I felt like the characters lacked depth and the pacing was off. The major plot point was overly dramatic but then resolved too easily given the MCs reactions. The romance felt a little too instalove and I could not stand the MCs best friends. I’m sure others would enjoy this, it’s sweet, but it wasn’t to my taste.
Thanks to Netgalley and Wild Rose Press for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Cute romance with all the swoons feelings but no spice.
Autumn is a nursing student, intent on staying single until she gets her degree - No men before BSN is her motto. Not only is Autumn in school, she’s working two jobs to support herself. But when Autumn meets handsome Doctor Jensen Edwards through her job a a companion service, she quickly realizes she might not be able to keep her motto after all

Loved, loved this so much I didn’t want it to end!! Devoured it in one reading as I didn’t want to miss any of it.
Such a pleasure to discover new authors, and I’m now going off to check out their work

I’ll preface with… I did enjoy this book. It was a quick, easy read. The story was cute and I’m a sucker for Fake Dating trope. However, I really shouldn’t read books about the city I live in. So many of the Seattle or PNW references were wrong and it drove me nuts! (Bremerton is not an island, but the ferry does go there.) Also, changing professional sport team names due to copywrite is totally fine and expected, but some of the made of PNW themed places and names were trying too hard and felt cringy. (I’m looking at you EcoFriendly Arena.) This is probably not an issue for someone who doesn’t live here but more of a me problem.
To the characters, Jensen and Autumn were a sweet couple together. I wasn’t fully sold on Autumn’s reasoning and insistence on her “I won’t date until I graduate” motto, but to each their own. She’s motivated towards her career, I guess. The side characters were fun except for her best friend, Lilly. Yikes! She seemed really against her friend’s happiness in dating at every turn. Kind of kept expecting some twist where she knew the MMC and was jealous.
Rating: 4/5

Autumn is me, and I am Autumn! I loved this book!
Meet Autumn, a nursing student focused on the prize. The prize? A BSN so she can be independent (sing it like the song when you say this) after a bad breakup. She has a plan, and none involves any emotional entanglements.
Jensen was.. well.. Jensen. Swoon. Smart, kind, awkward, and just.. ahhh. Yes, I said ahh. He is a doctor who is trying to get his life back together after a nasty ex went around the hospital spreading hate about him (my heart genuinely hurt for him - what's so bad, is this happens in real life ALL the time!).
I laughed out loud reading this book. The banter was on point! This book has some SPICE!
The tension! You will need a #20 blade for this one, honey.
This had just the right amount of slow-burn romance.
Autumn and Jensen have baggage, but they enter into a fake relationship and I loved it. The way their feelings developed was real, and I just had that feel-good feeling throughout the development of their love in the plot.
I wish I could tell you so much more because I love this book, but I don't want to give out more than I already did!
The plot is well structured, and the pace is just right for the plot.
The characters are well developed and so relatable.
I found myself, a nurse of 15 years, really getting into this one.
Perfect for a quick summer read. Add this immediately to your TBR I don't think you will regret it. If you do, I am not sorry! lol.. well, sort of.. but this book was great!
Thank you so much to Amanda Nelson and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC and review it.
Happy Reading, Friends!

Sweet, Sassy, and Satisfyingly Slow-Burn
Just What the Doctor Hired is a charming slow-burn romance with just the right mix of heart and heat. Autumn and Jensen are both carrying emotional baggage, which makes their fake relationship feel surprisingly real and relatable. I liked how the book didn’t rush things—watching their walls come down felt earned. It was an easy, feel-good read that made me smile more than once, and I was rooting for them the whole way through.

I loved this book! I think it was a good light hearted read. I loved the short chapters and the character development. As a life long Grey's Anatomy fan, I devoured this book! I think this book will be a big hit when it is released. I will definitely be talking about this book on BookTok.

This book had me giggling, swooning, and texting my bestie halfway through like “OK BUT THIS FAKE-DATE SITUATION IS GETTING SPICY.” 🌶️ Autumn is all “men are trouble,” and Jensen’s like “I just needed a plus one, not these feelings,” and suddenly BAM—fireworks! The banter? Chef’s kiss. The tension? Thicker than hospital oatmeal. If you’re into fake relationships that turn too real too fast, grab this book and thank me later! 💋🩺💃

Firstly, thank you to Amanda Nelson & Lisa-Marie Potter and Wild Rose Press for the ARC of this book! <3
Omg omg omg!!! I loved this book so much!
Jensen and Autumn have to be a new favourite couple that I’ve read about!!
Just what the doctor hired is about our FMC called Autumn who is doing a nursing degree and works for a companion site so she can pay her bills, this is where she meets our MMC Jensen who is a doctor at a paediatric hospital. They have to fake date in order to protect his reputation from past relationships, and her heart from past heartbreak.
We have multiple dates and hot tension, the chemistry between this couple is searing!!
I loved Jensen so much, he is smart, kind, caring but also he knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to go out and get it!
Autumn was an amazing FMC, she has a past that caused a lot of hurt but still wasn’t afraid to open up her heart!
One thing that did annoy me was Lily, I couldn’t stand her! Instead of supporting her best friend, she did everything she could to push Autumn away from Jensen and did what she could to ignore the love that Autumn had for him!! I know she was looking out for her friend but come onnn!!
This book is amazing for people who love books from authors like Lynn Painter

This was such a good book. I loved the story and the writing so much. The characters were great and the story flowed smoothly. Will definitely read more books by this author in the future.
