The Bridesmaid is now my go to book to recommend for getting out of a reading slump! I havent finished a book in 2 months and I finished this in a day! I was left wondering who the murderer was until the very end!

The Bridesmaid felt like the perfect book for a long weekend, but I struggled to stay engaged. The characters came off a bit one-dimensional and the narrative wasn't enough to keep me reading. I loved Cate Quinn's previous book, The Clinic, so this must be an outlier for me. Either way, I look forward to reading what she writes next.

When a celebrity bridesmaid is murdered weeks before an exclusive society wedding, forensic attorney Holly Stone is drafted as an unlikely undercover replacement. As she works to unpick the lives of the notoriously private Kensington family, glamour-averse Holly discovers a new worst enemy in bridezilla Adrianna. Heir to a multimillion dollar fortune, Adrianna is set on throwing the event of the decade, and she won't let anything get in her way.

This has a trope I love: the outsider infiltrating the elite to discover the secrets… and it was done really well.
Holly (freaking loved her) is a forensic expert asked to the scene of a gruesome murder that is incredibly delicate because of the very rich and very famous people involved.
Adrianna, heiress to a nightclub fortune, is getting married. Things are already off to a rocky start considering they are getting married in the very place she was kidnapped and held when she was just 21. Now, a bridesmaid is dead and the scene is horrific… and meaningful to something from Adrianna’s past.
This was just non stop thrilling. I enjoyed all of the little side plots, the deeper back story, and all of the mean girl evilness. I definitely recommend this!

Adrianna, heir to the multimillion dollar Kensington nightclub empire, is planning her dream wedding a lavish ceremony funded by exclusive sponsors, on the Kensington's private tropical island Elysium. There's only one flaw in her perfect plans. Elysium holds traumatic memories as the place where she was kidnapped and held hostage for three days on her 21st birthday, a case that was never solved... Good book! This book had suspense, intrigue, murder, mystery, a great who done it and a few crazy twists and turns. The story was interesting! It wasn’t a top favorite but still worth reading! Would recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

The Bridesmaids by Cate Quinn offers an intriguing peek into the opulent world of the wealthy Kensington family, set against the backdrop of a high-society wedding gone deadly. Holly Stone, a forensic attorney unexpectedly thrown into the role of undercover bridesmaid, makes for an interesting protagonist as she navigates the glittering but treacherous landscape of secrets and lies. While the premise promises a juicy mystery filled with glamour and danger, the execution falls just shy of delivering a truly compelling read. The characters, including the often-overly dramatic bride Adrianna and her suspicious bridesmaids, sometimes feel a bit stereotypical and underdeveloped. The pacing is uneven, with some parts feeling rushed, especially as the murder mystery heats up closer to the wedding day. That said, the story does have its moments of intrigue, and the setting adds a touch of escapism. Fans of glamorous crime novels may enjoy the glimpse into high society’s dark side, but those looking for complex characters or a tightly woven plot might find The Bridesmaid pretty predictable. Overall, it's an entertaining read with enough suspense to keep you turning pages, but it might not leave a lasting impression. A solid choice for readers who enjoy light mysteries sprinkled with luxury and intrigue.
