I wasn't fond of this one. I could not finish it. Perhaps it just wasn't for me, but I could not get into the story or care very much about any of the goings on in the book. The art is nice, but this just wasn't something I could get into. Thanks for the opportunity to read this, however.

Astro Royale is a supernatural action manga from Ken Wakui, the creator of Tokyo Revengers. Similar to that series, this one also involves a bunch of fist fighting delinquents- but now there's a supernatural twist in their powers thanks to a wish granting meterorite that destroys Tokyo and turns this into a kind of post apocalyptic Yakuza succession story. A solid supernatural action series for fans of the genre.

The illustrations from Ken Wakui are so notable and so is his storytelling, I'm a big fan of Tokyo Revengers and I can see this being added to the list. Once I began reading this story, I was pulled in and could not stop until it ended. The delinquent battle is his forte and he does it so well. The spin of adding powers into the mix just makes it even more interesting. I can't wait to read more and see where this story goes, I'm sure it'll be a thrilling ride!

As a fan of the author's other popular series, Tokyo Revengers, the art style and tone of the book is very reminiscent of it. This title took on a supernatural element and incorporated gangs into it as well. It was an action packed start to the series and the fight scenes were the best part of the book. Also connecting powers to objects the characters were holding as an interesting concept. Hopefully, they'll expand more on the rest of the series about the Astro and the rest of the family.

The premise of this one was what intrigued me. A yakuza family turf war, but they hash it out with superpowers via a wish-granting meteorite? That sure is a start! This is a lot of "just go with it" kind of goofy, action fun! The potential for it to establish itself beyond a One Piece clone are there! I hope it uses them, but it's also not a terrible clone if you're looking for something similar! It won't shock me if this gets an anime adaption in the near future!
