I adored this book!! The rhymes and story were spot on and the illustrations were precious!
Holly's dentist parents won't let her celebrate Halloween and when they leave the house on that day, the adorable Spoops fly into her life. They decorate the house with pumpkins and orange and black, and send some happy spirits to dance with her parents as they return. (Now I want to be visited by Spoops and live in that fall-loving town.)
As an October baby with 2 October sons and 2 October grandchildren, I plan to get copies of this book to share with not only my October babies, but all the rest too. ๐๐๐

A sweet illustrated poem appropriate for elementary age children about a child who loves Halloween despite her dentist parents severe disapproval.

This is so CUTEยก
one of the best graphic novels I've ever read period. I adore the art and color palette and how cute all the little spoops are. This story is so creative and fun. I love how it's written like old children's books in a poetic way. The rhyming makes it all the more magical.
The Story line is sweet and charming. I'll be highly renowned this to everyone! And buying a copy fire myself.
It's like a christmas Carol got a Halloween twist. Great for fans of Halloween Town and Very Scary Godmother.

This book totally captured the cozy Halloween vibe! Itโs ideal for middle grade readers looking for a light spooky story. Iโd read it again in a heartbeat and think itโd make a perfect fall gift.

This was so sweet! The story is fun and the flowing rhyme scheme of the narrative make a really fun read. The illustrations are also incredible. Loved this one!

When this time of the year comes around, I start craving Halloween vibes and spooky stories. But I also love cute carachters, so this little book was absolute perfection! I loved the story of young Holly, who is in love with Halloween but not understood or encouraged by her parents (dentists who hate Halloween). The story is really heartwarming and I loved the message about feeling different and finding your crowd during Halloween. I still feel the same as an adult! I think it would make a great story for kids to read in school. I loved the art and especially all the different little Spoops as they are possibly the most adorable thing I have ever seen. Totally recommended if you need to get in the right mood for Halloween with a cute and cozy story.

What a delight picture book! The illustrations are lovely and are so nostalgic.
Where a lot of Halloween books have fantasy main characters, like ghosts, pumpkins, and skeletons, I like that this book features a more real-world story.
Perfect for the reader that loves all things Halloween.

I truly loved this. I thought it was just so cute all around -- the illustrations were adorable and the writing was cute and playful. Reading this made me smile throughout. I think kids and adults will love this. I want a little figure of a spoop!

Spoops is a wonderful and fun Halloween story, with beautiful illustrations that have me feeling nostalgic. Holly loves Halloween, but her parents are both dentists, so they think it is a horrid holiday that does nothing but give kids cavities. Holly wishes for a way to make her parents see that Halloween is about way more than that. The adorable Spoops help her find a way to make her parents see her side after they have plenty of adorable Halloween fun with Holly.

The illustrations were so good, it felt very nostalgic.
I wasnโt too crazy about this book and the parents just kind of annoyed me. I loved that the little girl was so passionate about Halloween despite her parents.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

Well what can I say? I'm a huge fan of Halloween and I just could not let this book get away from me!
If you have seen the movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and you wanted a happy end for Willy Wonkas childhood with his desntist father then this book is for you and/or your kids!
I loved every second of this and the spoops were so cute!
Also the drawings on this were AMAZING! Really good job giving the eerie, spooky and cozy vibe you seek in these books!

This was adorable! The art is honestly so cute it hurts. The story is good but a little lengthy. I still think this is a great read for kids during Halloween season.

I really wanted to love this book. The premise is perfect and the illustrations are lovely (hence the 3 stars). However, I felt that it was a little to long and the rhymes a little too contrived for my students to love. I want more Halloween themed options for them, but I'm not sure if this one is it.

This book was super cute! It gave Night Before Christmas vibes with the rhyming and story and the artwork is reminiscent of vintage Halloween cards and decorations. It made me excited for the holiday and the spoops were adorable! I also loved that the parents in the book were wrong, admitted it to their child and learned from it. Very refreshing!

โSpoopsโ is a very sweet graphic novel for a younger audience about a little girl, Holly, who loves Halloween. Unfortunately for Holly, her parents are against Halloween, so she never got the chance to experience the magic.
It will captivate the younger readers out there, as the drawings are super sweet. Holly eventually found common ground with her parents ๐ The color scheme is just amazing, in an all black and white expect for the Halloween orange that manages to deliver the vibes of the season in a perfect way.

Thanks to Netgalley for an arc copy of this book.

This is why I love Halloween ๐! This was such an adorable story about a girl who loves Halloween and parents who don't. The Spoops are the spirits โจ๏ธ of Halloween and they are bringing it to little Holly. This is a Seus like story, full of rhymes. The artwork reminds me of 80's/90's aesthetic Halloween, that i grew up on. This is a perfect stroy to tell kids for Halloween.

I will be buying a copy of this for my girls this Fallโฆ big Halloween fans in our house much like young Holly Hollowell! I loved Hollyโs enthusiasm for such a fun day, the illustrations made the story come to life with a classic feel that reminded me of reading books I would find at my grandparents house when I was little. Iโm already coming up with craft activities to make our own Spoops this Halloween season!
Thank you IDW Publishing for the gifted copy.

As a millennial and a library worker, I often think back to all the lovely seasonal/holiday books I read as a child growing up in the '90s and early 2000s. Those with clever stories, enchanting illustrations, and perfectly encapsulating of the magic and wonder of each holiday. They are the ones we remember and revisit because they were so cozy and nostalgic. 1000% "Spoops" is one of those books. No doubt it will be a new classic for the next generation.
I can't wait until this is published so I can buy my own copy to cherish year after year.

Spoops is an odd yet endearing little book about a girl obsessed with Halloween despite the concerns of her dentist parents. (You'd think dentists would welcome the extra business, but who am I to judge?)
This book is so charming. The illustrations are so lovely and definitely have kid appeal. I'm bummed it's just a tad too long for me to use as a readaloud in my library, but I know it will join many other well-loved and well-circulated Halloween titles in my school,. My students check out Halloween books year-round, because they have impeccable taste in holidays.
This book falls right between a picture book and a graphic novel, so it's a good transitional text for building listening stamina, as well, Enjoyed it immensely.

Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday, so any chance I get to read children's books centered around Halloween, I am there.
I love the illustrations in this book and the use of splashes of colors in the panels is a nice touch. I love that the theme of this story focuses on everything other than the candy.
I found the cadence of the rhymes a little awkward at times. Some of the words are quite big for young readers, so an adult will have to help read the story. Overall, it is a fun book to get you in the Halloween spirit.
