Many thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book and it was just as good as the others in this stand alone series. The authors have done such a great job creating modern day retellings of Austen’s books, and you certainly don’t have to be a Jane Austen fan to enjoy them. Anne of Avenue A is well written, with great characters, and and swoony romance. I definitely recommend this book and the rest in the series!

5⭐️ The third book in the For the Love of Austen series is a Persuasion retelling! Emma of 83rd Street and Elizabeth of East Hampton have been some of my favorite reads over the past two years, and Bellezza and Harding continue to shine when it comes to modern Jane Austen retellings, this one does not disappoint.
Anne and Freddie met in college at NYU. Freddie approached Anne at a bar, they had the best conversation, and from there it was history. They dated for around three years until Anne broke his heart. Eight years later, they cross paths again when Freddie purchases Anne’s childhood apartment, and she’s the one handing over the keys. Now, they keep running into each other, unsure of what to do as sparks begin to fly again.
One thing this duo always does right is retell Jane Austen stories in a modern setting. They effortlessly weave the most important elements of the original into their own narrative. I get so excited whenever I spot the connections to Austen’s work.
Of course, I love that this is a second-chance romance. I’ll always gravitate toward those stories because they remind us that mistakes aren’t the end of the world—sometimes, we get to come back for the people we love. In Anne and Freddie’s story, we see just how much they’ve grown from the people they used to be. They’re relearning each other and realizing that even though time has passed, their love hasn’t. It was so rewarding to witness both Anne’s personal journey and Freddie’s, especially the way he navigates his relationship with his family. I also really appreciated the glimpses of the couples from the past two books, they still have my heart.
Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for this eARC in exchange for an honest!

I’ve read all the books in this series and have loved them all. This would probably be my least favorite of the series. Anne was hard for me to connect to. I liked her but felt like she was missing something. Freddie was similar where they felt a little weak. Overall I’d give three stars.

I totally loved this one. This is my third book in these authors series modernizing Jane Austen novels. I’ve loved each one more than the last. And I think this one is my favorite yet. Anne and Freddie’s story was so wonderful and heartwarming. I loved the side characters and getting to see some glimpses of George and Emma and Lizzie and Will. I’m such a sucker for a second chance romance and this one hit all my boxes. They were so sweet and soft with one another, and I thought the love story was really realistic. Even their journey back to one another and how much his family loved Anne was so wonderful and heartwarming. I would literally read 30 of these. Please keep making them. Thank you so much for the ARC. This is one of my favorite books of the year so far no notes.

Delightfully well-executed modernised Persuasion. I am really curious to see if this is the end or there's more to come from this dynamic writing duo.

I haven’t read the previous two Austen retellings by this duo, and I’m not very familiar with Persuasion, but that didn’t matter because I adored this novel. It’s a beautiful second-chance romance filled with longing and personal growth, and I really enjoyed the depth of each main character’s POV.
Anne is facing life without the responsibility of running her father’s production company while their reality show is on hiatus, which gives her the chance to explore what she truly wants to do with her life. However, that also means selling the posh apartment she’s lived in and moving in with a roommate.
Freddie is a successful entrepreneur who’s recently sold his company and is looking for his next steps as well. The two who were inseparable in college but then had a horrible breakup haven’t spoken or seen one another in person in eight years.
When their paths cross again, they both clearly still have feelings for one another and haven’t resolved their grief about the way they ended. I loved that both Anne and Freddie had personal and professional journeys to complete and that there was no big dramatic fight, just two people trying to navigate being “just friends” and determine whether that’s all they can be.
I can’t wait to get my hands on the first two books in this series (and of course, I’m hoping for a retelling of the entire Austen canon eventually). Thank you to Gallery Books and NetGalley for the ARC of this novel!

✨ Anne of Avenue A is a sparkling, second-chance love story that whisks you into the heart of New York with warmth, wit, and a touch of holiday magic. It’s equal parts cozy and clever—a romance that plays with timing, proximity, and old wounds in a way that feels both timeless and undeniably modern.
Reuniting two former lovers nearly a decade after their hearts went separate ways, the novel poses the ultimate what-if: what if the person you once walked away from ended up moving in just upstairs? Anne and Freddie’s story is shaped by missed opportunities and quiet regrets, but also by a growing recognition of who they’ve become—and who they still might be—together.
While I didn’t feel as emotionally gripped as I did with the first two books in this series, I was still thoroughly charmed by the New York setting, the delightful web of supporting characters, and the ease of the authors’ storytelling. The emotional stakes weren’t quite as high this time around, and I longed for just a bit more growth and internal transformation in Anne, but that didn’t stop me from smiling all the way to the last page.
What keeps me coming back to this series is the way this writing duo breathes fresh life into Jane Austen’s classics while celebrating the messiness of modern love. Their voice is sharp, their structure tight, and their love for the characters obvious. I’ll happily follow them through every retelling they dream up next.
💫 A massive thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for generously sharing this digital review copy of Anne of Avenue A, a contemporary reimagining of Persuasion. I’m so grateful to be along for the ride. As someone who adored the first two books in this series, I found this installment sweet and enjoyable, even if it didn’t reach quite the same emotional highs. Still, I can't wait to see where this brilliant writing team takes us next—I'll be reading every single word.

I soooooo wanted to adore Book 3 in the For the Love of Austen series, as I had the first two books, Emma of 83rd Street and Elizabeth of East Hampton. But unlike the previous books, the new story lacks the compelling emotional depth that made the earlier novels such a joy to read. May the authors return with Book 4, this time a modern take on Sense and Sensibility, for example, and delight us again with an Austen variation that will make us cheer. I can't wait!

I loved the first two modern Austen adaptations and ‘Anne of Avenue A’ didn’t disappoint. I devoured this book until my eyes couldn’t take it anymore and then secretly finished the last 15% during a very long meeting when my attention wandered (shhhhhhh).
I loved they way the authors addressed the persuasion aspect of Annie and Freddie’s break-up for a modern era. It was fitting with their ages, though I wasn't sold until towards the end of the book Anne’s mother makes a longer appearance. I also loved some of the gender flip of Annie finding Freddie unrecognisable (I chuckled). What really sold the reunion for me after a long time apart (which, let’s face it, in real life would seem utterly implausible because they’d be different people), was their chemistry and banter. Also the two of them same crossroads in life with the other giving them the kick they needed to move forward – Anne with quitting being a doormat to her father’s production company and Freddie slowly becoming the corporate stiff he didn’t want to be.
I do wish though that Anne demanded payment from a sideline character who was using her for her talents. It just needed to show Anne grow a bit of a spine after doing all that free work! Also, authors can we PLEASE stop with the gratuitous Taylor Swift references? It’s becoming insane to open up contemporary romance and yet again another book littered with them.
Delightfully well-executed modernised Persuasion. I am really curious to see if this is the end or there's more to come from this dynamic writing duo.
Thanks to Gallery Books and NetGalley for the ARC.

I thought this book was so much fun! I love a book set in NyC so that was a great start. The cover is adorable. Anne and Freddie were great characters and their second chance romance was swoony.

4.5 stars rounded up for great descriptions of NYC and some of its landmark restaurants and hotels. This is the third in the "For the Love of Austen" novels and I really think they get better and better with each one. This book is loosely based on Austen's Persuasion and just like in the original, a lost love comes back after many years apart. In this retelling, Anne and Freddie were students at NYU with bright futures ahead- but they never took the time to sync those futures into one vision. After going their separate ways, they accidentally reunite 8 years later back in NYC when Freddie moves into the same building Anne has been living in. This book does a great job telling the story of college student couples and the way things change, stay the same, grow, shrink and move ahead (or don't) over the next 10 years. This book has some great supporting characters and one or two that might just be a little over the top. But I loved the way the city was described (even an outer borough). I loved Freddie's mom and her loving but opinionated style of motherhood. Even the longstanding angst of NY Jet fans was discussed. If you like Jane Austen books, like romance novels and/or like books that are also a love letter to the city of New York- you will like this book. I also loved that the main characters from the authors' prior 2 novels in this series work their way into this story. It's fun to think of them all as friends and all staying in their own particular styles of being a couple. I hope this author duo continues this journey through the rest of the Austen books. Maybe Sense and Sensibility next? Or Mansfield Park? Whatever it is- I will be first in line to read the next one!
Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for providing a free e-book advance copy for me to read and review.

Anne and Freddie were headed for forever but his future took him to Argentina, and she stayed in NYC to pursue finance. It was not an amicable parting to say the least. Now he's back in town and she's floundering about her next move and he's bought her dad's old apartment - in the building where she lives. This Persuasion-retelling features a second chance romance in New York City.
I started out liking this book, but it really got off track. Haldway through it seemed to slow to a snail's pace - and it just was not interesting. As much as I enjoyed the first half, the second part screeched to a halt and just fell flat. The pacing was definitely off, and the story just seemed to lose its plot. Nothing was going on. The chemistry was boring - I was wondering if these two people were truly in love before - and the side characters just became caricatures. I will definitely not be recommending this title to friends.
