📖 ARC Review | Love You to Death by Anya Mora
🗓 Publishing June 23rd
📚 Advanced copy from Bookouture via NetGalley

This psychological thriller pulled me in with its layered storytelling and emotional depth. Told through back-and-forth timelines, the story slowly unravels—and just when you think you’ve figured it out, another piece clicks into place.

The more you read, the more the characters make sense. Secrets are revealed, tension builds, and there’s this quiet emotional weight running underneath the suspense. And the ending? I did not see that coming.

Suspenseful, emotional, and full of twists—I couldn’t put it down. Anya Mora knows how to craft a story that keeps you guessing until the very last page.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the advanced copy!

Y’all! I went in expecting a tender second-chance romance dipped in grief—and instead got hit with ghost-husband jump scares, a hauntingly persistent wedding album, and the scent of cologne that should not be lingering. I was hooked like a raccoon in a Dollar General dumpster. 🦝💀

Anna, a widowed mom, is trying to rebuild with her new fiancé Parker, but strange things start happening fast—her late husband’s scarf appears, shadows whisper, and her teen daughter Sadie is spiraling. Is it grief? Gaslighting? Or something way darker crawling up from the past?

Anya Mora writes like she’s got a direct line to your goosebumps. The pacing? Lightning. The characters? Deliciously messy and real. The twists? I clutched my metaphorical pearls more than once. Everyone’s hiding something, and when the truth claws its way out—WHEW. Nobody’s walking away clean.

Creepy. Twisty. Weirdly emotional. This is domestic suspense with claws.

I received this advance copy from Bookouture via NetGalley for my honest, voluntary review

The review below is already posted on Goodreads and will be posted on Amazon once publication has occurred on June 23rd.

The book Love You to Death was not as much of a thriller as I was expected. while I was a little disappointed that it didn't give me chills like other books have, I did thoroughly enjoy the story line and the ending that was given to the characters. It was a fairly fast read for me. I also got some confusion when certain chapters popped up because they weren't explained until later the significance of them but I loved that it added to the mystery of the novel. The book also had me guessing what was actually happening the first half of it and that is a good sign that I am hooked to find out the truth. Overall, it was a good read!

I may have had a scowl on my face for a good deal of the time as I read this book.
I kept wondering what is the deal with each of these people??
Anna has secrets, Parker questionable and Helen annoying.
However, I figured out a major piece of the plot before it was revealed and I had miscalculated on a couple of the characters.
I don’t condone some of the actions Anna took but I understood why she did them.
This book kept me guessing.

Love You to Death by Anya Mora is a gripping psychological thriller that explores the fragile line between grief, healing, and the shadows of a buried past. The story opens with a devastating blow—an unexpected and strange accident leaves a woman widowed and reeling. As she tries to make sense of the tragedy and find her footing again, fate intervenes in the form of Parker, a man who appears to offer her a fresh start and the possibility of love once more.

But just as things begin to settle, dark echoes of her past resurface, threatening not only her newfound peace but her grip on reality. Mora masterfully builds suspense, weaving emotional depth into a taut and chilling narrative that keeps the reader on edge.

This novel delivers both heart and tension, making it an excellent choice for fans of domestic thrillers with emotional complexity. Anya Mora proves herself a storyteller worth following, crafting a tale that lingers long after the final page.

Several unreliable narrator POV means the reader is left trying to figure out who is really tells the truth in this cat and mouse story of magically appearing objects. There’s loads of tricks involved and several red herrings to throw you off but you definitely have to suspend belief to get into the story but once you do that it’s a wild ride. The ending was predictable but it was still a fun journey to go on.
A woman who quickly gets into a relationship after the death of her husband despite the reservations of all those around her seems to be good to be true. And you know what they say about things that are too good to be true. Soon you are going down the rabbit hole of which details are relevant to the present day storyline because nothing is as it seems.
If you need a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat right up to the last page, don't miss this one!

A recent widow is just trying to survive in her new role as a single Mom when she accidentally finds love and gets engaged. However when her dead husband’s things start showing up around the house she becomes convinced someone is trying to torture her, reveal her secrets and ruin her chance at happiness. The past threatens her future. There are so many ways this one could go it kept me on the edge of my seat and I was still surprised! Fast paced and twisty just the way I like my thrillers!

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGallet for the ARC!

Love You to Death is a superb thriller!

When Anna gets engaged to Parker six months after her husband's death, strange things start to happen around her. Is her daughter Evie rebelling against her relationship? Is Parker not who he says he is? Or is it something more sinister?

This is one of the best books I've read in a while. It's got it all! A romance, mother-daughter dynamics, suspense! The story is a fast read, and straight to the point, but we still get a background story and excellent character development.

I loved that we got Anna's entire story from when she meets Parker to when... well, you will have to read this novel to find out!

An absolute page-turner.

This is the 3rd book that I have read from this author and won't be my last. Each book gets you hooked right from the beginning. It centres around Anna and her teenage daughter Sadie who not long ago lost their dad in a tragic accident. By chance one day she meets a man and straighjt away they are drawn to one another.. it isn;t long before they are engaged and he moves in with them. What should have been a joyous occassion them planning their upcoming wedding soon starts to go wrong. Is she doing the right thing or has she made a mistake.
Brilliant book that I read in no time. If you havent read anything from this author before I highly recommend you try.

I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN!!!!!!

Just when i thought I had the storyline figured out ….. BOOM!! Wrong answer!!!!

I loved the way the author invests in Anna, the main character, thoughts and emotions. Along with Sadie!
The book definitely kept me VERY entertained. What makes it even better is the chapters being short but gripping. And from one more chapter…. I’m then half way done the book! Two sittings and DONE!

Anna’s husband, Theo, has passed away. It’s been less than a year, but Anna is now engaged to Parker. Can she put all the secrets and lies from her past behind her?

Things aren’t going well for Anna. In fact, her life is falling apart. She is struggling with the feeling that that she is being watched, especially as strange things are beginning to happen within her home. Considering everything, Anna is relieved that her eleven-year-old daughter, Sadie, is spending the summer with her grandparents. However, this relief turns to fear when Anna realizes she’ll have to fight for Sadie’s safety.

As a reader who enjoys psychological thrillers, I’m not always caught by surprise. But this book was a different story. The fast-paced plot and twist after twist kept me on the edge of my seat, making it a one-sitting read. The shifting time frames also made me worried that I’d miss the author’s clever maneuvering of the twists. But wow! What a shocker!

I thoroughly enjoyed the way the author developed the characters. They were so well-crafted that they felt real, even if they were only minor characters in the story. They seemed to come to life on the page. This may be my first book by Anya Mora, but I am certain that it will not be my last. If this is the style of writing she delivers, I eagerly anticipate her next book.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Love You to Death is a satisfying psychological thriller with major chilling moments and a twisty plot. It occasionally slows down, but the strong central performance and suspenseful payoff make it a solid 4‑star read. Highly recommended for fans of smart, slow-burn mystery.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2

What starts as a second chance at love slowly unravels into something darker, creepier… and completely unexpected.

Anna, a grieving widow is just trying to hold it together for her daughter after the tragic loss of her husband. When Parker enters her life—a charming professor who seems like the perfect man—things move fast. Too fast. And soon, nothing feels right.

At first, I wasn’t totally hooked—it’s a slow burn—but the tension builds in such a subtle way that I didn’t realize how invested I was until I couldn’t stop reading and I loved the dual timelines and therapy note format

My first read by Anya Mora, but definitely not my last.

I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review

This was quite a read! The main character, Anna, is a very unreliable narrator which makes this quite the whirlwind of a read. While this book was a bit predictable with the outcome, I will say how the author ultimately pieces everything together is not. While I knew the classic storyline, I didn’t expect exactly how it would unfold which made this an enjoyable thriller for me!

This was a fun, quick read!

Anna, whose life has been nothing but tragic, has met a secure and loving man who is willing to risk it all to be with her. Unfortunately, her past comes back to haunt her in big ways.

I absolutely hated how Anna was treated throughout the story and couldn’t figure out why she wouldn’t just get rid of the toxic people in her life, but it all makes sense in the end.

Some of the plot seemed a little too convenient and the characters weren’t completely fleshed out, but I enjoyed the story and wanted to know more with every turn of the page.

I was REALLY hoping for a twist at the end (especially because it seemed a little too nice and happy) but that’s OK. I don’t always get what I want. 😊

3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

I will share my review on Instagram June 25 because it is a Books on Tour review.

This was such a solid, gripping domestic thriller! I really enjoyed the set up and watching the story unfold through the dual timeline.

Some parts of this book did feel slow and almost like there wasn’t much happening, but for the most part this was very gripping and definitely made me question every character.
