Sara Pucci’s Who Did I Marry? is a dark, twist-filled psychological thriller that grabs hold early and refuses to let go. Set against the backdrop of what should have been a picture-perfect birthday party, the novel expertly unravels the façade of a seemingly successful family, exposing the rot beneath the surface. For fans of domestic thrillers with unreliable characters and morally murky choices, this debut delivers.

The story kicks off with a jarring discovery—a corpse on the front lawn during the 14th birthday party of Charlie, daughter of Madeline and Tyler. What should’ve been a celebration quickly spirals into a nightmare as secrets unravel and the family’s carefully curated image begins to crack. Tyler insists he doesn’t remember anything from that morning, and Madeline is torn between protecting her daughter and uncovering the truth about the man she married.

What sets Who Did I Marry? apart is its use of multiple points of view and timelines. We hear not just from Madeline and Tyler, but also from Charlie, Detective Rynn, and others close to the family. These shifting perspectives keep the reader constantly reassessing what they think they know. The pacing is tight, and Pucci smartly plants suspicion on nearly every character—best friend Rose, maid Sadie, even Charlie herself—without it ever feeling overdone.

The characters here aren’t necessarily likable—and that’s a strength. Everyone is flawed, selfish, and reactive, making their unraveling both believable and compelling. Madeline, in particular, walks a fine line between victim and villain, and her decisions grow more desperate as the story unfolds. At times, her actions veer toward the extreme, but that only raises the stakes and heightens the suspense.

Pucci’s writing is clean, atmospheric, and cinematic. She understands how to maintain tension and withhold just enough information to keep you guessing. The twists aren’t just thrown in for shock value—they’re rooted in character and backstory. And while the story is intense, it’s never bogged down by unnecessary subplots or filler.

By the time the final reveal lands—along with a killer epilogue—it’s clear Pucci knows how to play the long game. The ending is not just satisfying, it’s earned.

Final Thoughts:
Who Did I Marry? is an impressive debut that blends family drama with psychological suspense, wrapped in a sleek, modern mystery. It’s bingeable, addictive, and dripping with tension. If you’re into books like The Couple Next Door, Behind Closed Doors, or anything by Lisa Jewell, add this one to your list.

I'm not sure there was a single likeable character in this book.
Which was good.
I wanted them all to be guilty so I could see them fall.
Seriously though, for a fairly small cast of characters, their lives were mingled in the most unexpected ways.
Good pacing, and some nice twists made it a good read.

What starts as a perfect birthday party for the 14-year-old daughter of Madeline and Tyler ends on a sour note.
That’s putting it mildly when a corpse suddenly turns up at your front door. Who is this person? To some, clearly someone familiar; to others, not at all. But more importantly: who is responsible for this murder?

Madeline and Tyler have been happily married for nearly 15 years, have a beautiful daughter, and lack nothing. That’s how the world sees them. But once the doors of their chic house close, their lives look far less rosy.

They may both be wondering who they actually married, but they are a match for each other. Both are masters of deception and lies. It almost seems like a match made in heaven…

The two characters I connected with were Charlie, the daughter of Madeline and Tyler, and Rose, Madeline’s best friend. Both were not treated particularly well by the main characters, which meant I couldn’t really sympathize with those main characters.

One downside for me was that Madeline very quickly resorted to drastic solutions for her problems.

It’s a smoothly written story, told from the perspectives of various characters and with flashbacks to the past. 4 stars.

Thank you

Wow!! This book was so addicting! I didn’t want to put it down.

Madeline and Tyler clearly don’t have a good relationship. It seems really toxic. I feel bad for Madeline and their daughter Charlie. During Charlie’s party, a dead body shows up on their lawn. Who did it? Tyler claims he didn’t do it but he can’t remember anything from that morning.. sometimes you can’t trust the people who love. They can be the ones who hurt us the most.

So many secrets! I had an idea of who I thought it was but I was wrong! I was guessing until the very end.

This book is fast paced and has twists you wouldn’t see coming! The ending was so good.

Review of ‘Who Did I Marry?’ by Sara Pucci due to be published on 28 May 2025 by Storm Publishing.

It’s Madeline and Tyler’s daughter Charlie’s 14th birthday party, all is perfect, apart from Tyler still being at work, when things come to an abrupt end when Madeline and her friend Rose discover a dead body outside the house.

When the body is identified, an unsettling web of deception is uncovered, leading the investigation in many directions, with multiple suspects who all act strange when questioned.

Over the course of the chapters, you are certain you know who the culprit is, only to change your mind again and again when more is revealed about each character as the twists keep coming.

A fabulous psychological thriller.

Absolutely amazing, edge-of-your-seat page turner! Seemingly unassuming characters who you know are hiding something but, what? A complex. emotional narrative that keeps you wondering... where is this going? and then... BOOM! that twist! Probably the best epilogue I've read in a long time. A solid 5 star!

Madeline will do anything to protect her daughter, Charlie. Her husband, Tyler, has been accused of murder, and dead bodies are turning up everywhere. Will Madeline be able to protect Charlie and herself?

Talk about family secrets – everyone has one – Tyler, Charlie, Madeline, their maid, and even Madeline’s best friend, Rose. It was very entertaining to see whose secrets would be kept, whose would be revealed, and, above all, who was doing the killing! A great thriller!
