It's a quiet story. Even though we learned a lot about the lore of these vampires and traveled different places, the world itself didn't feel expansive (I don't mean that negatively!). I liked Sabine's POV the best and the ending had a nice revenge twist. All 3 narrators are such pros, they of course did an amazing job.

The narration is stacked with amazing narrators! The story by itself is attention-grabbing, but the narrators really pull you in!

I requested this title on accident, I did not realize this was just a sneak peek of the title. I have since purchased the book and will finish reading it this fall. Thank you very much for the opportunity. The beginning of this was great-however I cannot give a full review on only the first couple of chapters. Sp appreciate the approval though and I have only heard good things so far!
I have given the book 3 stars just based off the first 12 chapters- I can come back and update once I complete the entire book! Thank you very much!

This was very well narrated. I really enjoyed getting a glimpse into these characters lives. The vibes were immaculate

Thank you Macmillan Audio for the advanced audiobook in exchange for my honest review.
It's so hard to write a review on this book without spoiling anything. And I absolutely do not want to rob anyone from fully experiencing this book, the way I did. So I'm going to cheat and copy what the author wrote to her followers when she announced this book more than a year ago:
Love Is Hungry.
Three young women, their bodies planted in the same soil, their stories tangling like roots.
One grows high, and one grows deep, and one grows wild.
And all of them grow teeth.
V. E. Schwab is an artist. Her books feel like a piece of art, not just one that you read and forget. They stay with you for years, and I'm saying this based on my experience with Addie from years ago. And now the women in Bury Our Bones are going live in my memory for years and years.
The voice actors at Macmillan Audio have done this book justice. The cast is very diverse with different accents and ages that I will forever associate these characters to their voices. They added a lot to my enjoyment and I highly recommend listening to the audiobook if you need help imagining the various characters in this book.

Just the start of this book I am frothing for more! This sneak peek was a mean tease but exactly what I needed while waiting for release day!

Schwab's stories always have the best narrators for the audio. I love the three different narrators used for this one and what they each brought to their characters. If anything, I enjoyed listening even more than I did reading!
Review from my physical read-
V is a forever favorite of mine and I died when I received this early copy!
I love the premise, the violent love, the strong women, and the twisted goals they try to achieve. Schwab's writing, as always, is beautiful and you can feel her heart beating on the page.
The three MCs were totally different, yet all desire the same thing. To live a life of their choosing. To be loved and to be able to love on their own terms.
My only hiccup is the ending. It moves much faster than the rest of the story and seems too easy a resolution. We follow these characters over hundreds of years and then come to a crashing stop within minutes.

While some find this book to be slow I found the slow burn to be so so worth it. It made the ending even more satisfying. I struggled to rate it 4 or 5 but I feel it is closer to a five star read for me just not my perfect 6 star read. I can see why some had issues with the pacing but it didn’t bother me. I can see why some say this is more lit fic/ historical fiction but it was still right up my alley. It comes as no surprise to anyone that I love a good vampire story. I started reading poppy z Brite and Anne Rice in middle school and this will fit right in with some of my favorite vampy titles. I do agree with the comps to “interview with the vampire” and “a dowry of blood” as well at “Carmilla”. Now I want to re read Addie.
The only thing I didn’t find much value in was Alice’s flash backs with her sister.

I’ve loved VE Schwab’s other books but this one didn’t do it for me. It was hard for me to get into and I never really connected with any of the main characters. I love the idea of this story but it felt a bit disjointed to me. Sad because lesbian vampires seemed like it would be so interesting.

False advertisement - I thought that I was getting the actual book, not a sneak peak. Not the greatest feeling ever.

this had me hooked from the start! Sign me up for just a twitch of a mention of Addie LaRue!
Thank you to NetGalley and Tor for this sweet sneak peek ALC!

This is a book you will be hooked on right away. Immediately I was drawn into these powerful women characters full of mystery and magic. The narrator did a phenomenal job and I was left wanted more than just a sneak peak! Can not wait to read the whole book!

Just enough to get me hooked. Of course I am running to get the fully audio. Narrators are fantastic. It is moody and atmospheric and a little slower paced but I am digging the vibes so far.

This sneak peak definitely got me very interested in the book. The narrators are very talented and the writing style is captivating. I appreciate being given the opportunity at a sample and did already purchase the full audio immediately upon finish this.

I am a VE Schwab Stan. I would read her grocery list. I loved this book and the Easter eggs from Addie Larue. This will be a reread during spooky season for sure.

I really liked the beginning of this book; I'm really interested to keep going! I loved the sneak peek of this audiobook.
Thank you Netgalley, author, and publisher for the ARC.

V.E. Schwab is the queen of atmospheric writing. Her experience as a poet shines in her latest novel, and the SNEAK PEAK of the audiobook helps bring her words to life. The narrators are fantastic and the brief part of the story that I was able to listen to made me salivate for the full book. I can't wait to see how the story unfolds in the full length audiobook.

Listening to this sample has forced me to wait until my audiobook hold comes in at the library because I feel like doing an immersive read will be the most delightful fall experience!

I really enjoyed this sample. I'm not really a historical book type of person, but I enjoyed how the stories were alternating. the narrators were great and really amplified the story for me. I forgot how much I enjoyed V E Schwab's writing; it feels very poetic and melodic and a nice blend between moving the story along and descriptors.

I really enjoyed the unique plot of this story. Truly once I heard toxic lesbians I was like sign me up. I did enjoy the characters, but I felt like there were parts of this book that were just a little slow for me. The ending was great & I adore VE Schwab. I think her writing is always beautiful.
The audio for this was incredible!
4/5.
