First of all, I have to say that the narrators did an amazing job! Their voices added so much depth and emotion to the story. I didn't know what to expect going into the book, but was pleasantly surprised with how intrigued I was by the story. V.E. Schwab did an amazing time crafting her characters and making the reader feel the emotions they were going through.

Listening to this sneak peek of this audiobook definitely made me want to read the rest of the book. I was so engrossed by the story and want to know more about the characters and what the future holds for them. It's hard to fully rate this book with only listening to the first 12 chapters, but I hope I can read the rest soon!

Thank you to NetGalley for this instant approval sneak peek of Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil. The only complaint I have about this is that I am not patient and hate having to wait until June 10th to finish this story. I will definitely be buying this book to find out the ending, I am HOOKED! This fabulously written story follows three timelines of three women. The voices in narration helped everything flow and keep me immediately engaged. I am a huge fan of V.E. Schwab and it looks like this story is going to be no different. I cannot wait to read more about vampires and am happy for the lesbian inclusion. 5 stars so far.

4.5 stars!

In this book three young women from different historical times and locations—Santo Domingo de la Calzada in 1532, London in 1827, and Boston in 2019. Their lives are interconnected, with each woman having a unique growth path: one is ambitious and strives for height, one is grounded and deep, and the other is free-spirited and untamed. Despite their differences, they all possess a fierce strength and they bite!

I had the delightful fortune of snagging a sneak peek audiobook, and let me tell you, I was thoroughly captivated by the story and the narrators! I've even put in a request for the book itself—fingers crossed that it finds its way to me soon!

Imagine if "Twilight" and "Bridgerton" had a literary love child, set in its own unique time and style. This tale is a delightful blend of suspense, insight, and intrigue. While it’s not my usual go-to genre, the buzz surrounding it was impossible to ignore, and I was eager to dive into my first book by this author—and I’m so glad I did!

Though it’s a lengthy read, every page was a treat. I can hardly wait to immerse myself in more of this author’s work!

Thank you, MacMillan Audio, for the digital ARC copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I loved this sneak preview of the audio! Julia Whelan as María is so perfect, and the accents of the other narrators really bring the story to life. I can’t wait to continue with the story once the book is out!

I have only listened to the first 12 chapters of this book since this was a sneak peek but so far I am intrigued and eager to find out how the lives of Maria and Alice will come together. Maria is in Spain in the 1500s and newly married to a wealthy husband. Alice is an Irish Boston college student in 2019. The narration of Julia Whelan, Marisa, Calin and Katie Leung is so good! I am impatiently waiting on this book to come out so I can get to the meat of the story!

Being a huge fan of vampires I was elated to receive an audiobook sneak peak of Bury our bones in midnight soil. The story following the three main lead characters from different centuries but Marie had me hooked and intrigued from the very first chapter! The narration is done so well with different female lead characters that brings the story to life in an extraordinary way. I cannot wait for the full book release on June 10th. I see why V E Schawb is so well respected as an author!

V.E. Schwab has always been a master of atmosphere, but this novella takes it to another level. Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil reads like a ghost story told around a campfire—one that seeps into your skin and stays long after the last page.

At its heart, it’s a meditation on loneliness, memory, and the stories we bury (sometimes quite literally). The unnamed narrator, the quiet, grief-laced tone, and the almost folkloric rhythm of the prose made it feel like a dark fairytale written in candlelight. There’s a sense of decay and beauty holding hands on every page.

I wouldn’t call it plot-driven—it’s more of a mood, a feeling—but it works. This isn’t a book to rush; it’s one to sit with, to feel. You’ll finish it with more questions than answers, and that’s kind of the point.

If you loved The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue for its poetry and melancholy, or crave something quietly haunted, this novella is your next favorite thing.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you NetGalley and MacMillan Audio for a 12 chapter sneak peak of this book!

After one chapter I was hooked! After 12 chapters, I neeeeeed more.

If you love historical vibes, feminine rage, slowly unraveling mysteries, and multiple POVs - read this book!!

If you love well written stories with intrigue, a touch of the irregular, vivid descriptions, and female main characters- read this book!!

I am relatively unfamiliar with V.E. Schwab’s writing but this book is written so beautifully and the audio book was extremely well done.
The narrators for each woman were chosen so well, and I really appreciate that they have different voices and accents as it makes the story extra immersive and easy to follow. The narration was full of emotion and depth and each character impressively stands out as a complex individual.

The timelines fit together seamlessly and the pacing of the story was such a delight to my ears.

When recommending a book I usually have a clear opinion of a format for best enjoyment, but I can confidently say that this one will be a delight whether you’re turning pages or listening to it.

I will automatically read anything V.E. Schwab writes and have been a self admitted fangirl for quite some time. I can't say that it caught me right from the beginning, however. This started a bit slow for me but had my attention by the end of the 12 chapter sample. Looking forward to the full audiobook!

I just think maybe VE Schwab isn't for me. I can understand the appeal of the story, kind of. I personally didn't feel connected to it though and don't feel the need to read the entire book when it comes out. I might try to read it eventually but it's not at the top of my TBR.
