So excited to hear the rest of this book and listen again with the full version. The narrators do a fantastic job. The voices are beautiful and it's a perfect blend.

I love the narrators of this audiobook and I'm looking forward to this audiobook publishing so that I can finish it! Since it was not the full audiobook, I will be sharing this on my Instagram stories and saving it under my audiobook highlights. Once I finish the full audiobook, I will provide a full review on my Instagram and Storygraph accounts.

I was already very excited for the release of Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil, but after listening to this sneak peek I'm even more excited!
The narration and the narrators all sound phenomenal, they really bring V.E. Schwab's characters to life. I'm definitely getting the full audiobook once it's out!
~Thank you to Macmillan Audio for the sampler!

oh my GOD these narrators are so good?! I love that there are different narrators for all three women and you truly feel immersed in each their perspectives in how the tone varies so distinctly between the different narrators and characters. The writing is so wonderfully portrayed with each narrator and just FITS each female main character. So excited to listen to the full audiobook because I am HOOKED on this narration and the story. Thank you NetGalley for the sample audio!

Short synopsis: Three different timelines, and the stories of how three Vampire women connect through their “deaths” and the lives.

My thoughts: This was such a slow burn, and while the story felt long I couldn’t imagine any details being deleted. I kept thinking about these characters and how their stories intricately weaved together, leading to quite an ending!

The way this story was told, there was toxicity, fighting for women’s rights, grief, love, rage, sadness, loneliness and grasping on to a semblance of control. These girls individually went through some pretty terrible things from the 1500s being forced to marry just to bear children, the 1800s parading around in hopes of “wooing” a man, and the uncertainty of modern day safety. I loved how each women stood for themselves and made a comeback in their own way.

This sneak peek was not enough! I adored the narrators and just wanted to suck this story right in! Lucky for me I had an ebook version to finish this up! The audio was very well done.

Read if you love:
* Vampires
* Toxic relationships
* Lovers to enemies
* Sapphic romance
* Spanning centuries
* Cat and Mouse

No no no!! When I read that this was a "sneak peek", I didn't even bother to read the description, I jumped on the opportunity. I love this author; "The Invisible Life of Addie Larue" was one of my favorite books of the last couple years, and I devoured this audiobook sample without realizing it was only the first 12 chapters! (I had assumed that "sneak peek" was in reference to the advanced copy, but I was sadly mistaken.) I am desperate to hear the rest of this story.

I appreciate NetGalley and the publisher for access to a digital ARC (sadly incomplete). My honest review is my own opinion.

Welp I was already desperate to read/listen to this one and now the desperation is only amplified. My only complaint is that I was denied for the full version and have to wait for the rest of this story to find out what happens

I CANNOT wait to read the rest of this book. The audio was so well done. The reader used different accents to differentiate between the different POVs. I was especially invested in Maria’s story. VE Schwab is so gifted at saying only what she needs to and allows for the reader to piece together the story on their own. I will review the book on my fable once I’ve had a chance to read the whole book.

I quite enjoyed this. The writing is intriguing and I feel like the icing in the cake is the different voice actors for the different characters. I’m very excited to see where this goes.

I listened to the audio sample on this via ReadNow on NetGalley. This is typical VE Schwab writing and I think her fan base will enjoy this book. Lovers of Addie LaRue will definitely love the purple prose and descriptive passages. Julia Whalen did an amazing job at the narration.

If you are not a person who enjoys the flowery passages, and not understanding the plot or where you are going for several chapters, this may not be a read for you,

Third person
Multi POV
Some spice
Alternating time line
Descriptive and flowery prose

I need this full audiobook ASAP. I have got to know what happens, I cannot believe this is just a sneak peek. Exceptional as always. Really liked the narrator!

Oh man that sample just wasnt enough. I am obsessed with Maria and Alice's story and I cannot wait for the book to come out

The description of interconnected stories and multi POV with vampires(!) drew me in. However, the story (so far--in the 12 chapter preview) was not as riveting as I'd hoped. The characters felt a bit unevenly written and were not as compelling as I think we've all come to expect from V. E. Schwab's work.

As always loved! I can not wait to get the full book and finish this amazing story. V.E. Is amazing and brilliant every time.

Three women, living centuries apart, are bound by desire, defiance, and the cost of freedom.
In 1532 Spain, María longs to escape a life controlled by men. In 1827 London, Charlotte is exiled after a forbidden moment and faces an unexpected offer. In 2019 Boston, Alice searches for answers and vengeance after one impulsive night changes everything.

This is a story of hunger, love, rage, and what it means to take your life back.

It's no secret that Victoria is one of the best writers we've been privileged to read. I listened to the first 12 chapters on audio, and it was incredible. The accent of María transported me to Spain in 1532, I could picture everything. I was immediately pulled into the story. A sense of mystery oozes from the pages and an eeriness you can't seem to look away from. I was obsessed with María in the beginning, but as the story unfolded and her choices got darker, that quickly changed. I think this might be the first book I've ever read that made me not want to be a vampire.

Even though the story moves at a slower pace, the tension builds this inner conversation with yourself, and you're left asking what is going to happen? I will say I wanted a bit more from the ending. I'm not sure if I wished we'd spent more time there or just needed more to unfold overall. It was like anticipating a huge drop on a roller coaster and instead getting a little whiplash. But I still loved this so much. What V.E. Schwab created here is nothing short of incredible. I’ll read all her books and support her forever.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the sneak peek of the audio version. And thank you to V.E. Schwab & Tor for making the physical ARC available. Highly recommend doing a tandem read, because the writing is so beautiful.

Note: I had no idea this was a sneak peek when I requested it, and it only covers the first 12 chapters.

Summary: This is a multi-generational, interwoven story of three women across time, each grappling with desire, identity, and freedom. In 1532 Spain, María, a clever and ambitious girl, longs to escape her limited fate and makes a risky, life-altering choice. In 1827 London, Charlotte’s sheltered life is upended by forbidden love, leading her to seek freedom at a steep cost. In 2019, Boston, Alice, a college student seeking reinvention, faces emotional upheaval after a one-night stand, propelling her into a journey of self-discovery and vengeance.

Is a 12-chapter sneak peek ever enough to determine if a book is good? Yes and no. It's most definitely not enough to be able to rate the book as a whole, so take my 4-star rating with a grain of salt. I honestly had no idea what was going on. It switches between at least a couple of the characters listed above, but it was a bit hard for me to track as an audiobook, and I would have probably been better off reading the book. The first 12 chapters didn't pull me in in the way that I'd hoped, so I'm unsure if I'll go on to read the book in all of it's entirety, but I don't think this book was bad in any way - I just don't have enough information to decide one way or another what I want to do next.

Thank you to NetGalley, Macmillan Audio, and V.E. Schwab for allowing me a sneak peek in exchange for my honest, albeit uncertain, review.

I genuinely enjoyed listening to the audiobook and would be interested in reading the book when it comes out. The character that stood out to me the most would be Maria, she’s fierce and strong-minded and it definitely shows with her words and actions. I’ve noticed I’ve paid more attention to the audiobook when the book would shift back to her perspective. I’m not sure how they all tie together yet, most likely going to be further in the book. However, I’m definitely excited for it to come out! Thank you Netgalley and Macmillian Audio for the preview!

Santo Domingo de la Calzada, 1532. London, 1837. Boston, 2019. Three young women, their bodies planted in the same soil, their stories tangling like roots. One grows high, and one grows deep, and one grows wild. And all of them grow teeth.
This was such a spectacular sneak peek audio teaser for the first 12 chapters of this book. Just like some of the characters, I have gotten a taste and I NEED more! All of the narrators are excellent and engaging - Julia Whelan is one of my favorite narrators so of course I love this narration. I am a huge fan of V.E. Schwab so also no surprise that I love this book and would give anything to have the rest of it! It clearly explores themes of death, immortality, and identity and her writing is so beautiful and haunting. I can already tell this is going to be an incredible read and I am definitely hooked – I cannot wait to have the opportunity to finish it and see how their stories intertwine and what happens next for each of these women! Thank you to NetGalley, V.E. Schwab, and Macmillan Audio for the gifted ALC. This is a voluntary and honest review.

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is one of my all-time favorite books, so I was very excited to try out this sneak peek of Schwab's newest creation. While I enjoyed the narrators, I discovered quickly that the plot just isn't for me, so I won't be reading the remainder of this book. I hope someday Schwab will create another story with the same emotional depth of Addie LaRue. Fingers crossed.

Omg...I had no idea what this book was about, but V.E. Schwab is one of my favorites ever. I flew through this audiobook preview. I am absolutely bosses with everything about the story. Not only does the narrator(s) do a fantastic job of enhancing the story, Schwab's already amazing writing. She truly is a master of storytelling!

Looking forward to diving into the full book when it releases! Thank you to the author and publisher for letting me have a sneak peek! :)
