Wow - for this only being the first 12 chapters, I was blown away. To be honest, this book wasn’t necessarily on my radar until I saw this teaser pop up on NetGalley. I absolutely adore audiobooks, so when this became available I jumped on it because the book blurb seemed intriguing.
I was not expecting to be gripped so quickly and easily by the first few chapters. The story line is beyond intriguing and all of the narrators are fantastic. Despite the plot being set in 2 different centuries with such drastically different scenes, I had absolutely no trouble following any of the story lines for the main characters. All I know is that I want more ASAP and I am so glad this book will be releasing in a few days. The narration has me wishing I had the rest of the audio to binge it immediately!
Each of the narrators have such distinct voices and accents, but I had no trouble understanding or following any of them. Each narrator is so emotive and believable. I genuinely cannot wait to see how these different characters in such different timelines and worlds tie into each other.
While this is the first book I’ve read by V. E. Schwab, it will not be my last.
Thank you so much to Macmillan Audio, Tor Books, and NetGalley for this early access sneak peek!

Format: 🎧 Audiobook ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Narrator: Julia Whelan
The tone and inflection of the narration is absolutely perfect for this book! It really sets the vibe for the story! I might be biased though because Julia Whelan is one of my favorite narrators.
As much as I wanted to love The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by the same author V.E. Schwab, I couldn't get into it even with Julia Whelan as the narrator. I had hopes that I would like this one better, and so far, so good. It does move at a slow pace and jumps around much like Addie, but the story is much more interesting. I am considering getting a copy as my BOTM (book of the month club) selection so I can finish it.

I cannot wait for this book to come out. I loved the sneak peek that I was giving and am chomping at the bit for the rest of the story.

V.E. Schwab has done it again. I'm loving it so far!!! I'm sad that this was just a sample because of how much I'm enjoying it and I can't wait to read the whole book!!

This sneak peek of the audiobook was excellent! The multiple narrators for the characters that inhabit different centuries and continents adds to the distinct storylines. Maria in the 16th century is the star of the first few chapters and I look forward to getting the rest of the story when the book is released.

I am so hooked. I cannot wait until June 10th. I can already tell this is going to be such an amazing story. So far, I definitely like this book better than Addie Larue. I’m disappointed I didn’t receive an ARC of this entire book. Anyway, I am so excited to read the rest of this story. I love all three main characters and their perspectives. The perspective of the main character who goes to school in Boston makes me feel sad. I think there should be a trigger warning for her POV. Still, I really like the three main characters’ personalities. I’m already trying to guess how all the main characters’ lives will become intertwined.

Thank you NetGalley, Macmillan audio and V.E. Schwab for the opportunity to listen to a sneak peek of Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil. I am absolutely captivated after this short excerpt and eagerly await the full release of this book so I can devour the rest.
Schwab’s prose are lush and evocative, and the use of multiple narrators to bring distinct POV’s and timelines to life adds rich texture to the listening experience. Sapphic vampires, simmering female rage, and vivid character development - this story delivers.

The audio sneak peek I listened to has me waiting with great anticipation for this book! Three wonderful narrators, all very skilled, bring this story to life. V.E. Schwab is an excellent storyteller. This is my first book of hers that I have experienced and I will be correcting that very soon
Read or listen to this book as soon as you can!
Sneak peek audio provided by NetGalley for an honest review.

Thank you for the sneak peek. The summary of the book leaves you wondering about how these 3 stories are related, or if they will come together.
The audiobook begins at a slow pace. And it was a little confusing, I wasn't sure where the story was going. But hang in there.
I enjoyed the narrator, they do a great job with the different accents and male/female characters.
The sneak is about 2 hours long. By the end of the peek, my curiosity was indeed piqued!
I plan to listen to the rest of the audiobook.

I am not sure I have the words to describe how much I enjoyed this book. Addie Larue is my favorite book of all time, but this is a close second. This book is feral, seductive, angsty, wicked, hopeful, and gut-wrenching. All three female leads are so strong and passionate in their own right, and it was immensely moving to watch their stories unfold and overlap. As usual, VE Schwab's prose is stunning, melodious and haunting and she successfully crafted a story in which you empathize with the most complex villains. My only complaint is that the ending wrapped up so quickly and I wasn't ready for the story to end. Art. Well done. A favorite of the year for sure. Bookstagram review to come soon.

This sneak peek has me counting the days until the book is released! What will happen with Maria??? And how is Alice connected? V.E. Schwab seems to have done it again!

This is a short audiobook sneak peek, but it gives enough to stir interest in the book, that’s for sure!
It’s not enough for me to really speak on the story other than to say it’s certainly intriguing. I will say that the narrator seems to do a good job and her voice is pleasing. I look forward to more!

.This book is tild in dual timeline which allows for yhe whisical elements to flow between time.
This is the Story of Maria, a woman in the 19th century who is force to marry a man she doesnt love and its trying to take over her own destiny and Alicr a girl in the 21rst century tryinh to figure out who she wanta to be.
Botj fiercely independent and ready to take life in.
Mysterious, and enchanting , could not stopped reading

Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the eARC.
SUPERB. Loved it. Bought the book immediately.

INSANELY interesting, particularly with these 3 amazing and talented actress.
cannot wait to read the rest in a week!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a sneak peek audio arc.
This is my first time listening to anything written by V.E. Schwab and it did not disappoint! I only got to listen to the first 12 chapters with multiple POVs, and sadly have to wait the finish the story. It follows three different women from three different timelines: Maria in the 16th-century Spain, Charlotte in 19th century London, and Alice in 21st-century Boston. This is perfect for fans of queer historical fiction, gothic vibes, and vampires. The narrators have done a fantastic job and I love the accent on Alice.

*** Thank you to Tor Publishing Group and Macmillan Audio for the ARC sneak peak of the first twelve chapters***
The first twelve chapters of Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil were electric, giving us a glimpse into the lives of our three main characters. Each character had a distinct tone, making it easy to follow. Easy to follow does not mean V.E. Schwab skipped out on her beautiful writing style... No, we get her hallmark writing style that fits the story so well.
For my audiobook people, the narrators were a wonder. Each of our three characters has their own narrator, and each narrator adds such charm and life to the characters through their voice acting. Words of phrases used with just the right inflection, it feels like I'm listening to real people having conversations.
As always, I'm extremely excited for the rest of the book. V.E. Schwab is off to a great start. Not a boring start by any means, this is a book that pulls you in right away- without confusing you.

Absolutely amazing start to one of my most anticipated reads of the year. I can not wait to finish the book!

I only read the 12-chapter sample of Bury Our Bones, but I am already completely hooked. The atmosphere is dark, haunting, and lyrical in the best way. The writing pulls you in immediately and refuses to let go.
Even in just the sample, the character dynamics are already gripping. There’s a slow unraveling of secrets, pain, and power that feels both personal and epic. The vibe is very gothic romantasy with a heavy emotional pull, and the tension is building in a way that makes me desperate for more.
The world feels layered and lived-in. Every line feels intentional. I can already tell this is going to be one of those books that stays with me long after I finish it.
I still have more to go, but I genuinely cannot wait to finish the full story when the series finally releases. If the rest of the book lives up to what I’ve read so far, it’s going to wreck me in the best possible way.

The first 12 chapters were not nearly enough. I NEED to know what happens. I am patiently waiting for the release date to finish the audiobook. I loved that we were provided multiple POVs and timelines. I can't wait to get my hands on this audiobook.
