Thank you Macmillan and NetGalley for the complimentary sneak peak of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I never read but heard great things about V. E. Schwab. Now I understand all the praise. The writing style is impeccable, I wanted to write down and memorize so many sentences as they were expressing interesting thoughts and observations. The beginning of the story is interesting and I wonder where it is going.
The narrators were great in portraying the characters and their emotions.

I am obsessed with what I listened to. So much so that I was deeply devastated when I discovered that this was only the first 12 chapters of the book. I cannot wait to give a more through review once the book itself is out.

This was only the first few chapters, and I'm already hooked. I can't wait to get more of these characters, this story, and this world. The narrators were wonderfully chosen for each character, and their take on it really pulls you into the world! A truly immersive, compelling, hungry world.

well this one sounded like my cup of tea and a good place to try out Schwab again, unfortunately I didn't enjoy this sneak peek but I think that is more on me than on the preview

This book is coming up on one of my book subscriptions and I was wondering if I would like it since I hadn’t read the author before so I was happy when I saw this sneak peek available. I absolutely devoured it and wanted MORE immediately. I am DEFINITELY getting this book in whatever editions I can because it’s just SO good.

Thank you to NetGalley, V.E. Schwab, and Tor UK for the advanced sneak peak copy of the first few chapters. This gripping, time-spanning novel weaves together the lives of three fierce women: María in 1532 Spain, Charlotte in 1827 London, and Alice in 2019 Boston. Each of them confronting the constraints of their time with people’s expectations of them, love, desire, autonomy, and rage. Once I have access to complete the book I will update my review.

This was only a Sneak Peek of Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil, not the full book, but hoooooly moly I am so excited to read the entire book! This sample had me so hooked. V.E. Schwab's writing is impeccable, and the melodic pace of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue continues in Bury Our Bones. I'm even more impatiently awaiting the book now that I've listened to the sneak peek. The characters are so vibrant and vivacious, I'm already attached to them, and I'm both anxiously excited and terrified to see what happens to them. I'm honestly mad at myself for picking up the sneak peek because now I have to wait for the rest! This is going to be SO good, I can already tell.
I received a copy of this sneak peek from Netgalley in exchange for an honest and fair review.

I'm so excited to read the whole book! This is the perfect set of narrators for the VE Schwab's vampy new release. Thank you to Macmillan and Netgalley for the sneak peak.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a sneak peek audio arc.
How tortuous.. These 12 chapters left me right on edge just when I was falling over into full character attachment.. Why did I do this to myself?! I am so intrigued, and we didn’t even scratch the vampire surface!
Seems like some hot messy feminine rage is on the menu and I am ready to EAT.
The narrators were wonderful and made the multiple timelines and jumps easy to follow while staying immersed in each story.

Can’t wait to see where this story goes I like the style of the writing it helped paint a more vivid picture of the story , reminds me for Dracula in that way. You picture everything because of the way the narrators reads the details

I cannot wait to be able to finish the rest of this story. Beautiful prose and female rage. VE Schwab is the one of the only authors I will buy and read from. They are a master of storytelling, and I can tell BOBITMS will be no different.

This was so fun to have a sneak of V.E. Schwab's upcoming release BURY OUR BONES IN THE MIDNIGHT SOIL. It's revealing itself to be highly atmospheric and already loving Maria our MC. I've pre-ordered my copy of the book, so this tease was a great way to hold me over til it arrives and hype me up to read it. Julia Whelan is, as always, a delight as narrator. Can't wait!

It’s hard to rate only the first 12 chapters, or 20% of a book, but this sneak peek has me intrigued. It’s slow to start, but it’s built up so much interest that I am excited to see where Alice, Lottie, and Maira end up.

I am so beside myself!! I was just listening along and it stopped and I thought to myself, surely I haven't reached chapter 12 yet ... But I have!!
That just shows you how good this book is! Great author, great story and great narrators! I was immersed and it had me hooked immediately! I loved the different timelines and the back and forth between them was seamless!
Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to the first 12 chapters! All opinions are my own.

First I’d like to thank Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the early sample of this book.
I’m very excited about this upcoming book and this first sample was fantastic.
I should have waited closer to the release date as now I’m can’t wait to read/listen to the book.
5/5 stars

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the review copy.
OMG...I was on the fence about this book at first, but so happy I was able to listen to a snippet. I can't wait to get a copy of this in my book box sub.

I will happily eat up anything V.E. writes. This sneak peek has me foaming at the mouth for more. A beautifully written story that somehow delicately weaves in feminine rage, sorrow, longing, and the patriarchal standards women are held to.
Tied into an idyllic historical backdrop, complete with a sprawling estate, hired help, and overbearing in-laws, V.E. tells the story of Maria, a fierce and malcontent viscountess. Maria's new life with her new husband is not what she expected, and she makes her discomfort and anger known to the reader, all while smiling and putting on a polite face to those around her. Maria is a perfect example of the trials women are expected to endure to please others (men).
We have another FMC, Alice, set in Boston in 2019. Alice is a young woman just figuring herself out. Her character seems unsure of herself, anxious, and a whole lot relatable. After a heated one-night stand with a mystery woman, Alice finds herself alone in bed, last night's lover leaving her a simple goodbye note on the bedside lamp. I have a few theories as to where Alice's storyline is going and I can't wait to be proven right... or wrong! I expect a big twist from V.E. and know better than to guess much at all.
I am, however, most excited to read more from Lottie, who resides in 19th-century London. Lottie is a fiery and borderline reckless girl. Lottie's character thirsts for more in life and eventually finds just that. I feel we did not get enough context on Lottie's story in the first twelve chapters and can't wait to read more.
Overall, I appreciate V.E.'s writing style and willingness to explore such haunting and provocative narratives. Her writing is rich with atmosphere, each timeline bursting with distinct textures and mysticism. The portrayal of queer characters is nuanced and unapologetic, woven into the fabric of the narrative without becoming their sole defining traits. Such inclusivity adds authenticity and emotional resonance, allowing readers to see reflections of themselves in such a haunting, supernatural tale.

Absolutely loved everything about this sample - except that it was ONLY a sample LOL. Can't wait for release day to enjoy the entire story. Another absolute banger from Schwab for sure!

I need more!!! The sneak peek of the audio was brilliant. I love how the three POVs each has its own narrator to voice the part. The Scottish accent was perfection and Julia Whelan is an all time favorite narrator for me. She's amazing and I could listen to her all day. I can't wait to finish this story and am hooked.

This story has already pulled me in, and I’m so intrigued to see where it goes. The story is rich and building beautifully! I’m fully invested in the characters.
The audiobook is fantastic so far! Julia Whelan’s narration is, as always, top-tier. She brings so much to the story, and I’m thrilled she’s one of the narrators behind the mic for this one. I seriously can’t wait to hear the rest of the book!
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to get an early sneak peek listen. I’m counting down the days until I can dive back in!
