I am obsessed. These 12 chapters have me hooked and I'm obsessed with Maria and I hope she gets revenge in every single aspect that she wants. I cannot wait for the full book to be released and I'm leaning towards wanting it on audio because the Narrators are amazing!

A very promising start to a highly anticipated book. I was sitting on the fence about whether to get a finished copy on release, but thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the sneak peek I'm sold!

There isn't much more that I can add other than what's provided in the synopsis. These first chapters focus on the lead up to Maria and Alice's deaths, with a snippet into another character's POV. The writing is both beautiful and very stream of consciousness like in Schwab's The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, with a plot that seems to meander and spend time on day-to-day life (in this first part). As someone who gave Addie 5 stars, I have no complaints about how this new story is shaping up, and look forward to it's release so I can see how it progresses.

This excerpt was SO GOOD! I can't wait to read the rest of the book! I feel like we haven't founds out too much so far, but V. E. Schwab is such a smooth writer, and this start was really compelling.

Wow—what an incredible sneak peek! The first 12 chapters of Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soul absolutely blew me away!

The narrators—Julia Whelan, Marisa Calin, and Katie Leung—are phenomenal. Each one brings the characters to life with so much emotion and depth, making the story feel even more vivid and immersive. I was completely hooked from the very beginning and couldn’t believe it when I hit the end of the sample—it flew by!

I can’t wait to dive back in with my copy when the publication date rolls around, though I’m already counting down the days until I can do a full re-read with the audiobook because it really brought the story to life. This story is going to be the hit of the summer!

Huge thanks to NetGalley, the amazing author, V. E. Schwab, and the publisher for the chance to experience this early! I’m so excited to see where the story goes next.

I loved this book when I read the digital ARC, but incredibly it's even better with the audiobook. Each of the narrators are intentionally chosen, and their performances immediately draw you in and help you understand each character's unique traits. I loved it.

I can't really say much since it's only a small portion of the book but SO FAR SO GOOD!!! I'm insanely excited for the release.

This sneak peak of the first 12 chapters was amazing! The narrators are incredible - they did such a great job capturing the characters and fleshing out the story. I was so captivated by it that I couldn’t believe I had already reached the end of the sample. I’m so excited to continue the story with my physical ARC, but definitely wishing I could read along to the audio. I’ll just have to re-read with the audiobook when it’s released!

Thank you so much to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for this ALC sample!

This preview immediately pulled me in with its haunting prose and dark, gothic atmosphere. I’m completely intrigued by the two girls and how their lives—separated by centuries—are bound together through love, rage, and something far more mysterious. Schwab’s writing is rich and immersive, and I can’t wait to read the rest of the book to see how their stories unfold and ultimately collide.

Only 12 Chapters in and I am already obsessed. I don’t know who’s pov I prefer - quiet Alice who for a night breaks out of her shell of overthinking, Maria spirited and yearning for independence forced into a marriage with a man she could care less about, or Charlotte who only lets herself keep a memory of connection never pushing for more. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

The narrator is absolutely incredible, I definitely plan to listen to the rest of this book when it is published. Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for this ARC sneak peak.

I ate this up! The narrators were all to die for, and the writing had me hooked immediately! It was almost criminal to list only a sample of this! I can't wait to finish this when it comes out!

This is the first Schwab book I have read(listened) to. I really enjoyed the way the timelines of the characters were laid out. It was very easy to follow and great to know the characters. I felt like I was seeing the story through the characters eyes, it was grippingly clear. I enjoyed the fact that there was not a lot of big plots but it was filled with emotion. I enjoyed it.

Thank you to NetGalley and MacMillan Audio for this ALC sneak peak (first 12 chapters) of V. E. Schwab’s new book in audio format.

This has left me wanting more! I have had V. E. Schwab books on my TBR for awhile now and this has not only convinced me to start one ASAP but that I will also need to purchase this book when it is released.

I love the writing style and the narrators are fantastic, I felt completely immersed in this world and was gasping and giving side eye to the characters while I was listening.

Oh how I wish I could listen to this whole audiobook! I will most definitely be preordering.

Their paths are scattered like bones across time, but there is something mysterious in the works. As strange symbols surface their stories start to twist together.

I can’t wait to experience the rest of the story! Thank you for the sneak peek.

I got a sneak peek of the first two hours of this audiobook on NetGalley, and I’m both grateful and slightly mad about it. Why? Because it was so good… and now I have to wait weeks for the rest. That was the best dirty trick a publisher could pull!

According to the publisher’s synopsis, Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil is a genre-defying novel about immortality and hunger, following three young women from different eras. Santo Domingo de la Calzada in 1532, London in 1827, and Boston in 2019. Their bodies are planted in the same soil, their stories intertwining like roots. One grows high, one grows deep, and one grows wild—and all of them grow teeth.

This sneak peek absolutely hooked me. V. E. Schwab has a way of creating atmosphere that wraps around you like the heat in a Southern summer, thick, haunting, and irresistible. And this cast of narrators? Amazing. I already adore Julia Whelan, and hearing her lead the charge here with her pitch-perfect tone, emotional nuance, and accent work is like being handed a glass of cold sweet tea on a sweltering day. And she’s just one voice in a full cast, which makes me even more excited for what’s to come.

Big thanks (and a snarky side-eye) to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for this early taste. You’ve left me staring at a mirage in the desert with nothing but sand in my cup until June 10. Not nice. But also, thank you!

Can’t wait to dive back into this story and see where it goes. If the rest lives up to the opening, this could be one of my favorites of the year.

I know it's only a preview but let's face it V. E. Schwab does not miss, and judging by this sneak peek the Queen still reigns!

Thank you NetGalley, Tor, and V. E. Schwab for this preview of Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil. Amazing.
