This sample of Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soul was very intriguing! I really enjoyed these narrators. I can’t wait to listen to the whole thing. It’s one of my most anticipated releases of the year.

It’s hard to review just the first few chapters of a book, but this sneak peaks teases what’s sure to be a thrilling and emotional read. The narrators all breathe such life into Schwab’s prose, immediately drawing you into this sprawling, gothic world. I can’t wait to hear the rest of it!

This was a sneak peak of the first 12 chapters of the book, so obviously not much has happened so far. But what we did get has me very excited for the full book to release in June! We have 3 point of views, Maria, Alice, Lottie. We didn't get much of Alice and we got even less of Lottie. But Maria's chapters were so good, I love the way her mind works she's definitely my favorite perspective so far and I need to know what's going to happen next!!

Ok so. This was great, but now I have to wait for more. 😭
Seriously though - I’m so glad I got this ALC sneak peak (thank you Macmillan for the NetGalley copy!!) because it confirmed to me that in addition to the copy I have ordered, I’ll for sure be listening to this one on audio.
The narrators were fantastic. Dynamic, compelling—just like the women they were representing. I think Alice may be my favorite so far (and yes I am from Boston but obviously notttt biased), but I’m genuinely intrigued by all of them.
I saw V.E. Schwab describe this book as an unapologetic “tale of hunger and the many shapes that takes.” You feel that discomfort, that grumble so keenly here. There’s a longing and reaching from the women here. A discontent with life, with the people around them, the expectations against them. How they come up against the hunger of predators they’re up against.
These women are all edges. Sharp beyond their teeth.
It’s a tease, but it’s a deep one. An appetizer, if you will. I’m not starving but certainly hungry for a full copy to dive into. For now, I’ll wait patiently to see how these stories continue to intersect and evolve once this one releases.

This is a highly anticipated release and I am so thankful I was able to get a sneak peek of the first 12 chapters! Just this little snippet was dark, twisty, and addictive. I am so invested in the plot and characters. Julia Whelan is one of my favorite narrators and I love when books utilize multiple narrators for multiple POVs; it really feels like a performance and just pulls you in. I cannot wait to hear the rest!
Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the sneak peak!

Thank you so much to Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for making this preview available for listen. I am so incredibly jazzed and excited for this book. This book is my most anticipated read for the year and this has me all the more excited. V.E. Schwab is a masterful writer and I am looking forward to the inevitable big sob that will come from the book as a whole upon its release.

An awesome sneak peek!!! I really loved the narrators and I was so into the story already, it made me hunger for more!

Rating: 5/5
What an exciting way to build anticipation for V.E. Schwab’s upcoming release! This preview was an incredible taste of what’s to come, and now I’m counting down the days until I can read the rest. The story follows three women across multiple timelines, from 1500s Spain to modern-day America, and the concept is captivating. And the sapphic romantic subplot? Yes, please! I’m fully invested and already craving more. Honestly, I can’t say much else except: this release cannot come fast enough!

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillian Audio for the audiobook sample of this book!
I was very intrigued by this book, and I wanted to read a sample to see if I wanted to spend the big bucks on a special edition copy. I am very intrigued by what is happening, but I'm not head over heels pumped yet. That being said, I'm excited to see how each thread is tied together. V. E. Schwab has undeniable talent, and even if I don't enjoy the story for the story, I will for the writing and plot work.

I was so sad to see this was just a sneak peek, but it was so worth it! I'm glad I started this new V.E. Schwab book as an audiobook before switching to the physical ARC (thank you Tor!). I'm so exciting for this audiobook to release in June. The narrators did a great job narrating the story. So excited to listen and read the rest of the book.

This sneak peak of the audio book has me excited for the full release. The narrators each have a distinct voice/style which allows for ease of following through the multi-time lines in this new book from VE Schwab. Can’t wait for the full release.

This is only a sneak peek so judging off the short preview we got so far I’d say I’m going to love this book! It follows 3 different women and 3 timelines which sounds like a lot but I was able to follow along well. The narrators - Julia Whelan, Katie Leung, Marisa Calin all did a fantastic job and have such different dialects that you can easily tell whose chapter you’re listening to. I can’t wait to listen to the rest of the audio when it’s released!

Even only being the first 12 chapters it is very clear the quality this audiobook has. The narration is top tier, the story telling is immersive and captivating. V. E. Schwab has done it again. The POVs of the different characters are unique and engage different emotional tap ins. Very very excited for the rest of the book!

I listened to the first 12 chapters of this sapphic vampire novel and now I'm hooked!
The narrators of this audiobook are amazing! I find myself often getting lost in audiobooks between different characters, but these narrators did such an excellent job of differentiating each character and their accents that everything just fell together beautifully.
This book follows three lesbian vampires across 500 years telling a story of hunger, feminine rage, and revenge. I was sucked into this story, and I’m now anxiously awaiting June 10th to see what happens next.

I can not wait to get my hands on the rest of this book! I listened to the audiobook sneak peek and am totally hooked! The narrating cast is perfect and I was drawn in from the very first few lines!

I was excited for this before, but after having the chance to dive into the world headfirst, I don’t even think excited begins to cover it. I am intrigued by the characters where I can’t wait to find out more. I went through this sneak peek in one session and definitely need to clear my plans to allow for a day of not being disturbed as I take in the full thing because I don’t see myself wanting to put it down.

loved this sneak peek!!! will need to finish the entire audiobook now for sure. excellent narration!

The sneak peek that sank its teeth into me... and left me haunted.
Huge thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for letting me get an early listen to the first 12 chapters of Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab. This has been one of my most anticipated books of 2025 since the moment it was announced—and now I’m even more obsessed.
Spanning three timelines—1532 Spain, 1827 London, and 2019 Boston—this story weaves together the lives of three women grappling with hunger, desire, rage, and impossible choices. Each timeline feels fully realized and distinct, thanks in large part to the incredible audiobook narration. Shiromi Arserio, Eilidh Beaton, and Laura Jennings absolutely nail it, breathing life into the characters and pulling you deep into each era’s mood and rhythm. It’s lush, eerie, and emotionally charged from the first chapter.
The vibe? Very Hungerstone by Kat Dunn—gothic, sapphic, bloody, and slow-burning in the best way. That creeping tension, the ache of longing, the shadows of danger lurking just out of sight… it’s all here, and it’s so good.
But here’s the catch: the preview ends right when things start to really unravel. And now I have to wait until June 9, 2025 for the full audiobook—and honestly, I’m counting the days. I can’t wait to see how the timelines converge, what secrets unfold, and what Schwab has in store for us.
Highly recommended for fans of dark feminist stories, queer historical fiction, and gothic drama that lingers long after you press pause.
Rating: 4.5 stars (based on the 12-chapter sneak peek).
If the rest of the audiobook delivers on this setup—and I fully believe it will—it’s on track to be a solid 5-star listen.

Can’t believe this is my first V.E Schwab book, this sneak peak is everything!!!! Running to go open the e-arc so I can continue the rest of the story!!! The narrators are so perfect
Thank you Macmillan audio for the alc

This was fantastic. I love the three different narrators, and I can't wait to read the rest of the book! I will definitely be listening to the finished audiobook.
