Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I am so excited for this book! I cannot wait to have the full book! This is so atmospheric and wonderful! VE Schwab never fails to deliver!

I was pleasantly surprised and grateful that the sneak peek was 12 chapters long. I partly wonder whether this was intentional as the first few chapters take a while to set the stage for the book. More specifically, it took me about eight chapters before I felt committed to the plot and the characters.

Many people are likely familiar with this author and her work. Considering her bibliography, I have read very little of VE Schwab. That being said, I will say that I enjoy her writing style. She has a very clear approach in how she handles the story.

In Bury Our Bones In The Midnight Soil, Schwab does a wonderful job of giving two distinct POVs their own unique voices. I believe she also intentionally draws in her female audience by giving our two FMCs a story that women everywhere can relate to, regardless of whether or not we have experienced something similar. I’m excited to I’m excited pick up this book in June.

Thank you so much for the sneak peek!! Can't wait for full release! This seems like it's shaping up to be similar to The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue!

Perfect teaser for this audiobook. I can't wait for the whole thing! The narrators really brought the characters to life.

A V.E. Schwab book that is also a vampire book... is this what heaven looks like?

Very reminiscent of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil is a very lyrical book that guides the reader through poetic prose, slowly unravelling the strands of these characters' lives and then weaving them together into a tapestry that joins them all together. This sneak peek introduces the reader to all three of the main characters that we are set to follow for the whole book, laying down themes of belonging and rage under the boot of the patriarchy. By the end of this extract, the vampires feel as though we have caught them from the corner of our eye but aren't completely present yet.

The narrators do an incredible job of bringing these women to life and I look forward to continuing this book when it releases next month!

What a great teaser. This is promising to be such a great story. It hooked me right away and I can't wait for the full release.

Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil is, in a word, lovely. Schwab’s prose is reliably lyrical—delicate when it needs to be, brutal when it hurts the most—and the novel unfolds like a gothic tapestry slowly being embroidered with blood, memory, and myth.

What truly shines here is Schwab’s ability to draw together multiple storylines—hauntingly parallel yet emotionally distinct—and weave them into a finale that feels both dramatic and inevitable. Each thread builds tension in its own quiet way, but by the time the pieces converge, you realize she’s been setting the stage for something much larger all along. It’s storytelling as sleight of hand, and she pulls it off beautifully.

A haunting, satisfying read that lingers long after the last page.

Fantasy usually takes a while to hook me—typically around 100 pages before I’m fully drawn into the world. Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil did exactly that, and just when I was completely invested, the sneak peek ended! The pacing, world-building, and atmosphere pulled me in gradually but powerfully, and now I’m absolutely craving the rest of the story.

The narration was a standout feature—each story is brought to life by a different narrator, and they even use distinct accents, which I found very engaging and immersive. It added so much personality and depth to the storytelling. I can’t wait for the full release.

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for this sneak peek!

𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆: Sneak Peek audiobook sampler giving the first few chapters of three different women; Maria, Alice, and Lottie.

𝗠𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: What a tease! The narrators were fantastic in this sample audiobook, the characters are developing well. I personally like to read fantasy novels with eyeballs 👀 and not ears👂 - but this little sample was just enough to make me add this book to my TBR!

Schwab is an intsa-buy author and I am super excited for this book. I had an audiobook preview and I cannot wait to read it.

So far, I find our two leads quite compelling, and the narrators are doing a phenomenal job bringing them to life.

Wow wow wow. This is my MOST anticipated read of the year and I cannot wait to get my hands on the rest of it. As always Schwab’s way with words is just incredible. I was to read this over and over until I get my full copy.

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for providing this sneak peek ALC for an honest review.

I need the rest of this audiobook RIGHT NOW! I had access to a sneak peek (the first 12 chapters) of the audiobook and I really shouldn’t have done that because now I’m dying to know the rest of the story!

I have seen quite a few reviews say the beginning of this book is slow, and I have to disagree. It could be a difference in having the performance of the narrators or just a difference in personal reading opinion/experience, but I was immediately interested in every storyline.

There are 3 different narrators with distinct performances, which makes it easy to follow the three main characters throughout their respective time periods.

I will definitely be finishing the rest of this audiobook after its publishing date and will return for a full review!

This was a good sneak peak!!! Enough chapters to start getting attached to the characters and now I can’t wait to read the rest once it officially releases! We meet three main characters, separated across time and space, but who knows where it will go from here…I’ve enjoyed V E Schwab’s other books, especially the Shades of Magic series, and I have a good feeling about this one! This book will be published in less than a month and I will be counting down the days.

I have been excited for this book since I heard V.E Schwab wrote a full length sapphic vampire book, and this sample has made me even more obsessed. It’s so engrossing I haven’t even noticed the time passing as I listened because every character drew me into her head and made me want to know more about them.

I loved the narration and how each timeline had its own unique voice. I think if I had more time to experience this story I would enjoy it more. The differing timelines made it hard to connect with each story as deeply as I would have liked this early on in the book.

I can already tell I’m going to LOVE this book. I need the full thing now! The narration is top tier

The sample leaves the reader gasping for more as it really solidly introduces the three women that we are following throughout their lives. I particularly enjoyed the way that Schwab has woven imagery of roses, roots, and soil throughout the narrative.

I can't wait to read more!

Well! This was only a preview from NetGalley.
I think I needed more of the book to get fully invested, but what I did get to read was okay.
The plot was well structured, and the pace was great.
Characters were well developed from what I got to read.
I was starting to connect to the story when it ended, of course.
The story is of 3 female lesbian vampires.
Spain, Boston, and London settings.
There was chase, games, yearning, thirst, and chaotic emotions.
I can't say where this goes, but I am sure it gets crazy!
Thank you to NetGalley for the preview.
Happy Reading!
