When I started the physical ARC of Bury I decided to read along with the sneak peek audiobook. I’m so glad I did because the narrators each painted a picture around the authors words and now even with the snippet over, I can still hear each of them so clearly. If you love audiobooks I HIGHLY recommend this one. The accents and range will leave you in amazement. The narrators are so very talented. This story is going to crush my heart and I can't wait.

Beautiful prose. I love V.E. Schwab on all her forms, but this is most reminiscent of Addie LaRue, which is her most popular work. If you liked Addie, this needs to be on your TBR.

HEARTBROKEN because I didn't realize that this was a sneak peek! hahaha... AND I'M IN LOVE! It tells the story of two women in two different times, which is not as intimidating as it sounds. In the beginning at least, they are two separate stories so you aren't juggling timelines.

I love Maria! She's the hottest young thing in her 1520s Spain village. The narration immediately reminded me of "The Familiar" by Leigh Bardugo but it's more mature, more sensual. Maria knows exactly what people expect of a girl in her time. If she's going to be relegated to someone's wife then she's going to make sure her marriage opens her world far beyond this little town.

In today's world, Alice is an Irish freshman making the rounds of a American college party. She is not as socially adept as Maria, but when she meets the illusive Lottie, none of that matters. They hook up and it's exciting, and flighty, and everything a girl could want. But Lottie is not like the other students.

The sapphic, mirror stories are so enticing. You can tell there are some sinister secrets coming but the main characters are not aware. I will definitely be preordering the audiobook.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a sneak peek of this book! I am even more excited for its release after listening to the first few chapters of the audiobook. The narrator is excellent, and the story itself is already so beautiful. I can't wait for June, as I plan to buy the book immediately and listen to the audiobook while I read it. Everything about it feels just perfect. I love V.E. Schwab, and she is one of the authors from whom I would read anything at this point. Thank you again to the publisher and NetGalley for this sneak peek audiobook in exchange for my honest review!

This sound so interesting so far!! I can just feel the female rage coming. The storyline just slightly reminds me a bit of The Familiar with an oppressed FMC that is sure to find her voice.

The narrators are so good. Love that there are three different female voices to vary the characters and give each of them life. I can’t wait to read / listen to this when it comes out!

This short snippet of V.E. Schwab's upcoming novel made me glad I was given the opportunity to sample. The writing is on par with what I expected and the narration was top notch. This was just enough to leave me curious for more.

Noooo I wasn’t ready for it to stop!

Schwab so easily draws me in with all of her works I can’t wait to read the full story.

Looking forward to reading/listening to the rest of the story. So far really enjoying it!

How…how am I supposed to go back to reading with my eyeballs after that? Unsurprisingly, Schwab’s prose had fully sucked me into the story. Each narrator has been wonderful so far, and I am so gutted I don’t have the rest!

I really enjoyed the narration of each of the women in this preview.

The story itself started off slow and it took me a couple of chapters to settle into the story. Once I did, I disappointed the sample audio ended.

Intriguing set up - I was most interested by Maria's narrative, but all the POV are written well, easy to follow. The build up is taking its time (the audio preview was between 3 and 4 hours) and I am curious as to where this story will go next.

I’m really enjoying this so far! I can’t wait to read/listen to the rest when it’s released!! I’m drawn in and intrigued to see how Alice and Maria’s stories continue to wind together.

Even though it was just a sample, I’m already hooked. The writing is unmistakably V.E. Schwab—haunting, lyrical, and filled with that slow-burning tension she does so well. The audiobook voices were atmospheric and immersive, instantly pulling me into the eerie, melancholic world she’s building. I already know I need the full version ASAP. If this is just a taste, I can’t wait for the whole feast.

This little snippet made me 10 times more excited for this book’s release. All of the characters we meet in this sneak peek are voiced beautifully, their motivations and histories are well crafted, and the story is set up to be full of rage and breaking chains.

BURY OUR BONES IN THE MIDNIGHT SOIL
Sneak Peek
V.E. Schwab

Narrated by Julia Whelan; Katie Leung; Marisa Calin

I had the best time reading BURY OUR BONES.

The combination of expert narration and great writing leads to a transportive world. BURY OUR BONES IN THE MIDNIGHT SOIL is genre-straddling and doing a fantastic job on all sides.

Atmosphere rolls off the narrator’s tongue as if it were steeped in honey . I feel like I could listen to the audiobook every morning to be inspired to be reminded that great literature exists today, and you may find it in a romance novel, in historical fiction tale, or as it is here, in a story about vampires.

The only problem that I had with the audiobook was its length. This sneak peek was way too short.

Thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the advanced copy!

I cannot wait to read the whole thing!

BURY OUR BONES IN THE MIDNIGHT SOIL…⭐⭐⭐⭐

What an incredibly gripping first few chapters. It's very atmospheric, and you can immediately tell things are not what they seem. In true V. E. Schwab fashion, the writing is so vivid, the words painting a picture before you. But the narrators are truly the cherry on top. Julia Whelan sucks you in and Katie Leung and Marisa Calin do not let you go. I'm fascinated by Maria and the cliffhanger has me staring at the calendar, wishing and willing the days to pass because I simply cannot wait for the full release.

This is literally my most anticipated read of the year!! V E Schwab can't make anything less than masterpieces!
I love the tripple pov. The chosen voice actresses truly brings this story alive. I can't wait to read the rest.

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for providing me with this ARC.

I’m sure this achieves every single goal of providing a sneak peek. Having listened to what amounts to the first almost hundred pages of ‘Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil’ I’m hooked. Chomping at the bit to finish the story. The writing is captivating as always for VE Schwab, there’s a brilliant tension in establishing the world, and all three of our main characters are compelling. I absolutely love Maria especially and need to know what happens next.

The hardest part is that now I’ll be finishing the physical format instead of continuing with audiobook- I absolutely can’t wait for release to finish this. Which is a bit of a shame because the audio is brilliantly done. The actress has such a pleasant voice and is so smooth creating accents and voices for characters. I’m sure I’ll be happy to read the book in any manner but the audio is absolutely something I’ll be recommending

This is a hook from the beginning. Lesbians vampires and a Florence + the Machine vibes? I’m all in. My biggest complaint was I only got a sneak peek! Need more asap!
Note: I’m grateful to the publisher for an ARC sneak peek of the audio, the first three hours, in exchange for an honest review.

I got the privilege to listen to the first 12 chapters of this book early, and I cannot wait until the full audiobook is released! This is my first book by this author, which I know is shocking, because I hear about her books all the time! I loved the 3 different POVs and time periods, the different narrators and their accents, they all did a phenomenal job! So far looking like a 5 star book! Thank you Netgalley for the early sneak peek listener copy
