This audio preview was EVERYTHING!!! The three narrators did a superb job sucking you into the story, giving these characters life. I listened to it one sitting and couldn't wait to continue with the story.....once it was published. I can't wait to dive into one of my preordered copies of this fabulous book and continue to get lost in Schwab's excellent writing.

LOVE the title - it gives you a hint of exactly what the book is about without saying the word, vampire. The narrators are awesome. What an excellent choice, to make the different protagonists and characters have distinctly different accents. The narrative is memorizing, it reminds me of listening to Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. It is a 4 star listen right now - but may change later, depending on how this saga ends.

I am very much loving the start of this book!
It is very reminiscent of the prose found in The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, but it is still very much unique to its own narrative journey.
I also like that we have so many POVs. And I can't not talk about the audiobook narrators. They are all so fabulous in their performance!
I can't wait to finish this book. VE Schwab has once again proven why she is one of my favorite authors.
TOXIC LESBIAN VAMPIRES LET'S GO!

I adore VE Schwab! Anything she writes I will read. Though I have to admit this is my least favorite of her books that I have read. It's still an amazing book, don't get me wrong. 5 STARS!
However, this book was a slog to get through. It took me 18 days, which is a lot for me. I found myself drifting off and not always wanting to pick up the book. Most of Schwab's books are very character focused, but this was to the extreme. The book was so character focused that there was very little plot. I love the characters, but I need a little bit of plot to care about them.
I think this book will be good on reread to pick up the subtle hints and poetry that Schwab excels at.

I loved Addie LaRue and so when I read the synopsis of this one I was super excited. Also you can't go wrong with Julia Whelan as one of the narrators. This amuse bouche was a great taste and made me even more excited to listen to the whole book.

Loved this audiobook sneak peak! The narrators did great representing the different main characters and any book by VE Schwab is sure to be a magical surprise.
Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for this ARC for my honest review.

This was a highly anticipated book for me this year and I'm so happy that I got to listen to the sneak peek on Net Galley! The story is immersive and the narration is top notch, of course, including Julie Whelan, Katie Leung, and Marisa Calin. I am now 40% into the book after buying it on Libro.fm and loving it! Such a fun way to find out if a book is for you. Thanks to MacMillan and NetGalley.

I was introduced to VE Schwab via her book, The Invisible Life of Addie Larue. Whereas Addie’s story was contemplative and artistic, Bury is full of anger. Rage, even. I’m actually loving it! Addie kind of dragged in some parts. This story, however, has the bouncing timelines with a plethora of action, and the pacing is faster. The author also does some interesting narration with stream of consciousness style, which I think helps break up the paragraphs/structure. Also, there are some badass feminist themes in there!! The rage and revenge are*chef’s kiss.*

LOVE Julia Whelan! she can do any accent and make it believable. I really liked this story for the vampire vibes, but it did not have the same impact as Addie LaRue.

What an entrancing sneak peek! Immaculate writing, strong characters, and just enough to get you hooked. I am excited to finish this book and see where the story goes! I can already tell I am going to love this book. The audiobook's narration is perfect, and the narrators did a wonderful job.

I was so excited to get this early sneak into the book and cannot wait to continue and finish it thanks to getting the full novel with my botm subscription

The part that was available was fantastic. Love Julia Whalen. I don't feel like the sample was long enough to actually review the entire thing but the part that I listened to was great.

V.E. Schwab's novel about "toxic lesbian vampires" is a deep and rich look at desire and hunger, as well as comfort with one's place in life and how that can change. The audiobook in particular brings a depth and realism to the various characters and is one of the best stories I have experienced in a long time.

oh where to start.
this book is truly breathtaking (see what i did there). this is a marvelous piece of sapphic literature that has so many metaphors, incredible foreshadowing, and a story that will haunt me forever. I saw myself in all 3 of our main characters, each of the characters are so fleshed out it would be easy to tell who’s point of view you’re in without the headers at the beginning of the point of views. the main theme of this book is one that feels like it’s impossible to talk about without spoiling the major character changes and stories within this book. It was truly a roller coaster of a book. i’m so glad that i read this slowly and soaked in all this book had to offer because the quotes, the metaphors, the way Schwab can foreshadow, it has me in awe of her writing and the story. the soil and the way the characters talk about the midnight soil, it’s almost like it’s another character of the book. haunting and alluring from beginning to end, this will definitely go down as one of my favorites.
thank you Tor for the advanced copy of this book. all opinions are my own.

Awesome! Thank you thank you for this sneak peek. I ended up finishing the audiobook after this listen. enjoyed this (lengthy) listen. It has vampires and alternating POVs and time jumps and girl power and love affairs and violence. It didn’t necessarily have a plot, more of a life story of 3 different female vampires with overlapping timelines.

Wow! What a start to what is looking to be a fantastic audiobook! I will be purchasing the audiobook. Loved all 3 narrators and cannot wait to finish it!

Reading challenge category – 2025 Flourish and Blotts: Potions Master – Potions: Includes a special drink or poison (blood)
This story follows Maria (Sabine), Charlotte (Lottie), and Alice. Their stories meet and intertwine. I appreciate the symbolism of female power and vampirism, but it was just so slow. I did enjoy Addie LaRue, but I think the author shines more in the YA genre. I understand why people DNF'ed this one.
Schwab needs an editor. 2.5 ⭐️ rounded down. Wayyyy too long.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE NARRATORS!!! perfect for the setting of the book I cannot wait to listen to the rest of the audio!

The narrator definitely carried the story. The toxic lesbian vampires were amazing. The atmosphere was compelling as well

Very excited to finish the rest of this audiobook!
Thank you Netgalley & Publishers for the sneak peek!
