This story is so beautifully written, and the audiobook truly brought it to life. The full cast narration was incredible. Each narrator completely nailed the voice of their character and made the timelines feel distinct and immersive. The emotion and tone were spot on, and it added so much depth to an already powerful story.

I loved how the narrative moves between three different timelines, each one adding something unique and meaningful. It took me a little time to settle into the rhythm, but once I did, I was hooked. The last part had me fully on the edge of my seat.

At its heart, this is a story about three women: María in 1500s Spain, Charlotte in 1800s London, and Alice in present-day Boston. Each one is navigating desire, survival, and the cost of freedom in very different worlds. Their lives span centuries, but the themes of love, rage, and resilience connect them in a powerful and haunting way.

Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the audiobook preview! After finishing my preview, I was desperate to listen to the rest of the story.

The narrators are incredible! VE Schwab uses stunning pride and depth of character to draw me in. The emotions of her title characters just draw me to them!

this was a sneak peek of this audiobook and it really made me need more!! The narrators differ for each characters respective chapters, it really helps move the story along and helps you remember whose story your reading or whose part you're on. Alice's chapters had to really be slowed down because of the accent, while really good was a little hard to understand at times. I really love the narrator for Lottie, Maria's narrator was very good I am surprised at how different this narrators voice is for Maria vs the rest of the chapter she narrates. I need the rest of this book immediately!

This sneak peak was the perfect lead in for this story. I simply could not wait for this book to release after reading this. I've since read the full book and am pleased to say it's fantastic. However, this little mini tease was a great starter for me to begin with.....and made me even more eager to get my hands on the full book.

Thank you to NetGalley for this sneak peak ebook.

This audiobook was beautiful. The different accents that went with each character and their story was amazing. I loved the first 12 chapters of this story and cannot wait to read more. Each character's part left me wanting to know more before jumping to the next story. I was on my toes the entire time and listen through these chapters so fast. V.E. Schwab is a brilliant writers and the narrators really brought the story to life.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the SNEAK PEEK of the audiobook.
Narrated by Julia Whelan; Katie Leung; Marisa Calin

This was about 3 hours of the 18-hour audiobook! Very well done. Is it painful, to start reading a book knowing you only get a taste. I loved how each girl is different, yet they are all struggling. And they will be connected in some way, I just can’t figure out what it is yet.

I think this will be a 5-star read once I am able to get the finished book.

This was fantastic! Not only is VE Schwab a favorite but anything narrated by Julia Whelan is phenomenal. I can't wait to get my hands on the rest of the book when it comes out.

It may have only been the first 12 chapters, but if this is any indication of the rest of Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil, this book is going to be everything a gothic horror vampire historical fantasy should be. V.E. Schwab delivers as always, and I was hooked from the get-go. Writing intertwinging stories that come from all different walks of life are difficult, but here they do it seamlessly, in a manner that transports us from time period to time period without feeling interrupted or jolted. This sample was fantastic, and I cannot wait to read the rest of the book. It truly is starting as a story of taking back one’s own power, and I feel this theme will be throughout the book. Julia Whalen, Katie Leung and Marisa Calin capture the spirit of these characters early on, and truly bring the beginnings of the story to life.

Thank you Tor Books for the advanced listening sample in exchange for this review.

This was only twelve chapters but I think Schwab does an excellent job at establishing the characters and their motivations — Maria, who's from 16th century Spain, and wants more in her life and actually takes measures to achieve it; Alice, who is queer, has anxiety, and honestly quite relatable, and the mysterious Lottie, who we only get one chapter of.

The audiobook is narrated by Julia Whelan (Maria), Katie Leung (Alice), and Marisa Calin (Lottie), and I think they all did a fantastic job. I especially loved Alice's chapters just because of how much emotion was put into it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for providing this free extended ALC sneak peek.

I would like to start off by saying I love that our three main characters have separate narrators. Each one is so distinct and does a wonderful job with their section. It really helps me keep the different sections straight. I am definitely intrigued to see how this story comes together, especially since María is not yet connected to the other two women. Yet the story has focused a lot on María so far. I am excited to continue reading/listening to this book!

I know this is just a preview (so I don’t have a link to a full review below) but holy smokes, this book has some magic in it (proverbially). I struggled with Addie LaRue because of the pace but this seems much snappier. And of course, the narration is just perfection. I can’t wait to listen to the whole thing! Thanks to you everyone for the ALC!

Review pending things don't go horribly south after the first 12 chapters. I will say, SO CRUEL to tease only 12 chapters. However, it was so phenomenal that I've already purchased the full audiobook from Libro.FM!

It is no surprise that VE Schwab's prose is beautiful. Her books have always been masterpieces. So I'm here to say kudos to Julia Whelan, Katie Leung, & Marisa Calin. WHAT A LINE UP!! Each narrator is so so so talented on their own, but together?! MAGIC! I cannot wait to continue this audiobook, not only to see how this story weaves itself together, but to listen to these three knock it out of the park even more!

A fantastic start to Schwab's newest novel. Perfect for old school fans or even as a first Schwab read for someone.

I really didn't think V.E. Schwab could get better, but this is magical, immersive. I've only heard the sneak peek offered, but I can't wait to read more. Love each narrator's voice for each of the women who inhabit this vampire book. A tantalizing look, and I'm not sure how they all come together, but I can't wait to find out more. Pitch perfect.
