A large message from this story is that we’re all entitled to like what we like, even if we constantly repeat the same lunch. Having the same food everyday might be boring for Kat, but Mouse feels safe with his favorite food. I know many people in my life who are Mouse, and I would be Kat! I like that this book shows both characters realizing that despite their differences, they are better together rather than apart. That is what friendship is all about! Their friendship even created a new “compromise” meal for the both of them. So excellent!

This was such a cute and simple story, perfect for beginning readers. The characters were just different enough to be interesting for kids and the premise is just a little silly: a mouse and a cat who are friends eat their different lunches together every day, but soon mouse is worried that they are just a little too different.

Delightful. This is how a children's book should be written. Great eye-catching fun illustrations to match simple text. But the simple text turns into a story with a message. I highly recommend this book.

Kat and Mouse eat lunch together every day. Kat likes experimenting with new flavors and new experiences, while Mouse enjoys their tried-and-true favorite day after day. Should two friends who are so different really spend so much time together? In this charming early reader, Yoon introduces two delightful characters who, through their lunches, grapple with some surprisingly big questions about differences, friendship, and trying new things. Told entirely through color-coded dialogue and bold, cheerful digital art, this book is sure to appeal to fans of Elephant & Piggie, as well as Yoon's Penguin series and Duck, Duck, Porcupine.

Kat & Mouse: I Like Cheese! is a sweet story focused on lunch… and friendship. The dialogue is in fun fonts and is enjoyable to read aloud. The illustrations are colorful, and Kat’s lunches look especially tasty.

Overall, this book will appeal to young readers and their families, with its message about connecting with others.

Perfect for transitional readers, this story is also great as a read-aloud. Kids will relate to Mouse, who likes what he likes, or Kat, who likes to try new things. Everyone will enjoy the feeling of friendship and recognize the importance of spending time with friends, even though we may be different. Salina Yoon always writes the best picture books, and this one will be a hit with primary and preschool readers!

Kat & Mouse: I Like Cheese! was a relaxing read. It had cute graphics. . It will be a good read for young ones and teaching for them about coming together despite your differences. Some people like routine things and others like switching things up. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I am anxiously waiting for Kat & Mouse: I Like Cheese to be released, so that I can grab a copy for my 1st grade classroom. As it is written in a similar style to Mo Willems's Elephant and Piggie books, I know that young readers will love this new series.

Thank you to Bloomsbury USA Children's Books and NetGalley for an ARC of this book. Opinions expressed are my own.

This was a cute story about Kat and Mouse. One likes change and trying new things, the other likes routine and the familiar. The two friends notice and acknowledge their differences but ultimately come back together. Young readers will find this humorous and will relate to Kat or Mouse and will enjoy seeing the pair find out what works best for them.

Kat and Mouse are BFFs and total opposites. How will their friendship survive?

This is a charming story about friendship, compromise, and understanding what makes each of us unique and different.

Accepting what makes us individuals helps each of us to grow and be better people.

The illustrations are sweet and thoughtful and so are the feelings conveyed by Kat and Mouse.

I love how when they decided to eat lunch apart, they missed one another.

It demonstrates how friendship is a combination of many factors, not just similar interests.

Even though we are all different, we can appreciate what each person brings to a friendship and knowing that makes friendship so important.

I look forward to reading this series.
