I enjoyed the twists and turns in this book. It kept me riveted all the way up to about 95% and then it fell apart for me. I found the ending rather unbelievable. I did enjoy that there was more than one point of view and the characters were very well drawn. It is definitely worth reading if you like this genre.

J.M. Dalgliesh's Homewrecker is a chilling psychological thriller that introduces a seemingly perfect family to a tutor with a hidden, dangerous agenda. The narrator, posing as "Sophie Beckett's" daughter's new tutor, enters the beautiful home with a heart pounding with secrets. Sophie, a seemingly loving mother trying to help her struggling teenage daughter, Katie, has no idea who her new employee truly is—and the narrator intends to keep it that way, fearing for her own life if the truth is revealed.
The narrator quickly connects with Katie and Sophie's "thoughtful husband," Scott. However, Sophie's "dark eyes" are soon filled with jealousy at the bond forming between the tutor and her family. When the narrator discovers her room has been searched and her clothes strewn about, a chilling question arises: Does Sophie suspect the truth about why she's really there?
The tension escalates dramatically when Scott reveals the circumstances of his ex-wife's death, sending a twist through the narrator's stomach. Despite Sophie's suspicions and increasingly erratic behavior, the narrator is resolute: she cannot leave. She believes Katie needs her more than ever, and she is willing to do anything to protect her. The narrator's final, chilling declaration—"When I'm done in her beautiful home, somebody's life will be over. I know it won't be mine..."—sets the stage for a ruthless battle of wits and wills. Homewrecker promises a dark, addictive read where every interaction is laced with manipulation and deadly intent.

A must read psychological thriller. It kept me reading deep into the night. The author kept me going with all the twists and turns. I didn’t see the end coming.

Homewrecker is a dual POV psychological thriller that totally pulled me in. It’s about a family with a teen named Katie who ends up being homeschooled. Her dad, Scott, hires a tutor named Deanna, who immediately hits it off with Katie—and maybe a little too well with Scott. Naturally, Sophie (Katie’s mom) isn’t loving this. At first, it seems like she’s just jealous of how quickly Deanna bonds with her daughter, but soon it feels like there’s more going on… and maybe she’s also noticing how much attention Scott is giving Deanna too.
The first half of the book is mostly from Sophie’s POV, and I really liked being in her head—it made the tension feel real and personal. Then, Deanna’s POV kicks in, and I thought I had the whole story figured out… but as I kept reading, I realized I was totally wrong. The twists caught me off guard in the best way.
It’s not a super fast-paced thriller, more of a steady burn, but I really enjoyed it. My only small gripe is that the ending felt a bit sudden after all that build-up. I still liked how it wrapped up, just would’ve liked a bit more. Either way, I’ll definitely be checking out more from J.M. Dalgliesh.
If you’re into domestic thrillers with layered characters and unpredictable turns, give this one a try!

In Homewrecker, J.M. Dalgliesh delivers a tightly woven domestic thriller that slowly unravels the fragile illusion of control in one woman’s life. Sophie, a successful TV personality, appears to have it all—until the chaos at home begins to spiral. With a rebellious teenager and mounting stress at work, she’s already on shaky ground when her daughter is expelled from school, setting off a chain of events that will upend everything.
The arrival of a seemingly helpful tutor marks a turning point, but for Sophie, things only become more unsettling. As those around her remain calm, her grip on reality begins to slip, and the narrative deftly blurs the line between perception and truth. Dalgliesh crafts an atmosphere of growing paranoia, expertly pacing the suspense to keep readers questioning everyone’s motives—especially Sophie’s.
With a clever structure, slow-burn tension, and a final twist that lands with precision, Homewrecker is a gripping exploration of gaslighting, guilt, and the hidden fractures behind a perfect façade. It’s a chilling, smartly written thriller that will keep you guessing—and glued to the page—until the very end.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc. Imagine the nightmare of a house swap with your old friend going wrong. How bad could it be, right? What an enjoyable thriller. Lots of secrets and THE TWISTS!! OMG!! Great book

This book had incredibly relatable characters, an emotional rollercoaster, very realistic drama, and so many tense moments. The ending wasn't my favorite but I enjoyed the ride.

Sophie Beckett appears to have the perfect life—an enviable career as a TV presenter, a stunning London home, a devoted husband, and two beautiful children. But when her troubled 12-year-old daughter Katie is expelled from school for setting a classmate’s locker on fire, Sophie and her husband Scott bring in a home tutor, Deanna, to help. Deanna quickly wins Katie over, and while Sophie tries to hide her unease, it soon becomes clear that the tutor is becoming far too comfortable—especially around Scott. As Sophie’s carefully curated world begins to crack, she starts questioning Deanna’s motives—and her own grasp on reality.
Set in a posh Georgian house in London, this psychological thriller taps into familiar domestic suspense territory, reminiscent of Freida McFadden’s The Housemaid. The setup is promising and the mid-section builds tension well, offering multiple POVs and clever misdirections. However, the pacing falters at the start and the conclusion, while surprising, stretches plausibility. The twist felt overly convoluted and undermined the believability of the plot, where a bit more restraint could have delivered a stronger impact. Sophie’s unreliable narration adds an interesting psychological layer, especially with her mental health struggles and medication-fueled doubts, but some elements—particularly Katie’s character—felt unrealistic for her age.
Overall, this novel had strong potential and offered gripping moments, especially in the second half, but ultimately the implausible ending and slow beginning held it back from being a standout in the genre. Fans of domestic thrillers may still enjoy the ride, but those looking for a smart, tightly woven mystery might find themselves disappointed.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion .

It is the typical cliche'. Wife hires young, beautiful, sexy tutor. Tutor wants wife's husband and wife's life.....or is it? . Is Deanna conspiring with Katie to turn her against her mother so she can be with Scott? What are Deanna's intentions after all? You will have to read to find out.
The author did a fabulous job detailing these characters. They have so much personality and charisma. They feel relatable. This just helps with the emotional rollercoaster that you will embark on in this quick read. I could not put this one down! The plot was twisty. The transitions were smooth and I can not say enough good things about this book. Trust me when I see I did not see this ending coming. An absolute MUST READ!

3.5/5 rounded up to a 4
I absolutely adored the first 95% of this book - think unreliable narrator, action from the start, dual perspectives, and a lot of questions I couldn't quite figure out. However, the final 5% of this book just didn't do it for me. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I was so excited to find out the ending, which ended in a totally different way than I expected. However, the way it ended was just a bit too unrealistic for me and honestly kind of depressing? I would recommend reading it as you may love it, but unfortunately the ending was not for me.

'Sophie Beckett?' I smile sweetly. 'I'm your daughter's new tutor. May I come in?' My heart thunders in my chest. Sophie has no idea who I really am, and I need it to stay that way. Otherwise, I might not leave this house alive! Wow! Definitely a heart pounding thriller! This book had chilling suspense, mystery, murder, dark past secrets, intrigue, and some really gasp worthy wild twists! The story was very interesting and kept me glued to my kindle! I highly recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

Rate 3.5
Sooooo this one was kinda hard to get through and it’s not because it not really put together nicely but it was just boring to me the plot didn’t really keep my attention there was a plot twist that made it better , the mmc lol I really couldn’t stand but I had to keep reading to see what was really going on .

Homewrecker by J M Dalgliesh--The idea of this book intrigued me. A media personality, simply searching for a tutor for her daughter, gets more than she bargained for. The problem is that the psychological thriller genre is so small that I feel I've read similar books, some very recently. And when comparing those books, this one just doesn't stand out. There's nothing objectionable about it, but there's worse writing, especially when the protagonist is talking to herself. She's very matter-of-fact in a way that seems stilted. Certainly there are many redeeming qualities, as well as a twist that I was surprised by. But I'm left questioning if that surprise was from groundbreaking writing or simply poor writing. I'm leaning towards the latter. I received an advance review copy of this book, but you can already pick it up! It released earlier this month. If you like psychological thriller, you will probably enjoy this. Sideways thumbs.

Thank you so much to the publisher for sending me this ARC through Netgalley!
This is my first book by JM Dagliesh, and it will definitely not be my last!
4 stars! This was an intense psychological thriller with twists that never stopped coming. This story and the characters within it invoked frustration, anxiety, and tension in a way that makes for a fast-paced, intriguing thriller. Would recommend!

You know you read a good thriller when you are completely wrong about the ending! I loved this psychological thriller and I was impressed by this authors writing. I will definitely be reading more from this author. The writing was executed perfectly and the author did a great job with character development. I would highly recommend this thriller!

Such a well paced and suspenseful book! The twists were believable and not predictable.
It had excellent writing and a fascinating plot.

Narrated by Alison Campbell, Tamsin Kennard
This is a dual POV psychological thriller of a family who has a school age teen, Katie who needs to be homeschooled. Deena hires a tutor who seems to gel on with Katie immediately as well as Sophie's Husband, Scott. First half of the book is mainly from Sophie's POV, which you get a very good sense of who she is and how she is perceiving this new women in the household. Things are not as they seem though and even with the foreshadowing, the twists and the finale are worth the time reading. The other POV is from Deena. Again, Dalgliesh builds some great characteristics and you get a very good sense who Deena is. Or do you?
Really enjoyed this medium paced, well written thriller. As always, I really enjoy listening to both Tasmin Kennard and Alison Campbell as narrators. They have superb voices for these type of thriller
4 stars

I had a hard time getting into this book. It was interesting enough that I wanted to finish and find out how it ended, but it didn't grip me the way I had hoped it would. I did think the ending was pretty good, so that made it a little better. I'm sure there will be other readers that get into it more than I did, but it just wasn't my favorite.
