This was a really sweet read. I would describe it as “kitschy” in a Hallmark type of way except with a lot more meat on the bones so to speak.
It was well written with very short chapters making it an easy and quick read. The best part about it was the imagery created from the descriptions of Scotland. It made you want to drop everything and jump on a plane.
It’s the rare case where you get exactly what you are offered in the books description! I look forward to more from the author.
It’s a perfect fluffy summer romance book to pass the time!
It comes out June 30th from Boldwood Books.
I am thankful to have gotten a complimentary eARC from Boldwood Books through NetGalley to read which gave me the opportunity to voluntarily leave a review.
My rating system since GoodReads doesn’t have partial stars
⭐️ Hated it
⭐️⭐️ Had a lot of trouble, prose issues, really not my cup of tea (potentially DNF’d or thought about it)
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Meh, it was an ok read but nothing special
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really enjoyed it! Would recommend to others
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding! Will circle back and read again

The term opposites attract was definitely true in the case of this book. A well planned book. Thank you Hannah.

Another fabulous book by Hannah Lynn…
Scotland, a castle, 5 dogs and a grouchy lord…. What more could you ask
for when you have to go and work there for two months???
How about a tall, handsome stranger with gorgeous eyes, talk about a welcome distraction 😊
When Bex Barker takes on the task of having to digitalise all the accounts of Highland Hall for work, it means having to relocate and travel the 11 hours up to the castle, when she arrives she is met by 5 lovable dogs who bundle into her with slobbery kisses and a grouchy old man who turns out to be the owner and Lord of the castle itself.
When Bex settles into her new work/home environment she finds herself attracted to one of the staff called Duncan who appears to be reserved but presents himself in a caring manner towards Bex offering to help her with all the paperwork to make her job easier as he knows how things have been run and it seems like Fergus prefers to just put the paperwork in the office and close the door behind him.
How long will Bex need to complete the task, will 2 months be long enough?

Accountant Rebecca Bradshaw is eager for promotion, so when her boss asks her to go to Scotland for two months to sort out the accounts of an old family friend she feels she has no choice.
Bex is determined to get to Highland Hall and do the job as quickly as possible so she can get back to her life in London.
But then Bex meets groundskeeper Duncan and from their first meeting sparks begin to fly.
Duncan is nursing a broken heart and Bex is there for work and nothing else. So nothing is going to happen, is it?
This lovely, feel good romance is full of character and warmth. Perfect for a cosy afternoon read.

This was a quick and easy read. When Rebecca , a London accountant, gets assigned to go to Scotland to sort out some business she gets more than she bargained for. She hoped that this wayward assignment would solidify her getting a better position at the firm she worked at. Duncan was really a sweetheart that suffered from a broken heart. I wouldn’t exactly label him as brooding he seemed to be more kind and considerate not at all super sad or angry. The conflict at the end of the book wrapped up fairly quickly I really wish they let us know the status of her job and how they planned to work out living so far away. I would give this book a 3.5 rating.

Kilts and Kisses at Highland Hall by Hannah Lynn
Rating 3.5⭐️
This was such a cute read. I love the city girl to small town shift in picturesque Scotland.
The characters were utterly endearing. Main and side cast alike! Fergus especially gave major “grumpy old uncle with a gooey center” vibes. Ruby the dog might be the MVP here.
I loved that the FMC didn’t hold back when the MMC tried to use her to get his ex’s attention. However, I didn’t expect it from MMC’s character to do that. It’s sad since he had all the makings of a green flag king. It felt a little off-brand. He definitely made up for it though.
The ending felt a little underwhelming. Particularly around Bex’s inner tug-of-war about her future. I would’ve loved a deeper dive into the life she dreams of beyond romance.
Still, this is a charming recommendation for anyone craving cozy, small-town romcom energy, wrapped in lush green hills, mirror-like lochs, and just the right amount of drama.

Thank you so much for the ARC!

Another superb read from Hannah Lynn. A quirky cosy romantic fun read that did not disappoint. A good book to escape into.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in return for an honest review.

Thank you boldwood books and NetGalley for arc
What I like the plot and the characters it was a cute and good feel book no spice it was refreshing to read, and a good summer read I fully enjoyed reading it I really like it the Scottish elements in it (I’m Scottish) overall 4 stars

Really enjoyed reading this book. The setting was lovely and the characters were great and how they worked together. Would definitely recommend reading this.

Another lovely read by Hannah! I always love her cosy series books and this one didn’t disappoint. FMC Bex is sent to Scotland for work and she is not impressed! She is hoping to get her work done as quickly as possible and get back to her life in London. MMC Duncan is described as a Scottish hunk and his witty one liners and general personality made me love him. We also meet a variety of different characters, all who add brilliantly to this story. Some good Scottish words used throughout and a generally lovely read!

5 ⭐️ Kilts And Kisses At Highland Hall by: Hannah Lynn is Publishing June 30, 2025 with Boldwood Books
Awe, it was so sweet. A witty, cute and delightful read. I adored getting deep into the story, imbedded in the town and all the quirky characters. Such a vibrant group brought to life with care, love and respect. A light bit of spice. Even in the harder parts I could tell of the understanding within and hope throughout. Would be fun to visit if it was real.
Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read before publishing and shares my honest thoughts.

An easy read that offers a great escape to the Scottish Highlands. It is exactly what you would expect from this type of book, romance, drama, stunning locations, and a bit of a cliffhanger that tells you there will be a sequel. Perfect for someone with not much time but wants to read a good book.

Rebecca Barker thought she was in line for a big promotion—until her boss sends her off to Scotland to sort out a bookkeeping nightmare for a couple of months. She was expecting a quick work trip... but it just might turn into something more.
This was a cute and easy-to-read story about people trying to safeguard their hearts from further heartbreak. It’s a closed-door romance, perfect for readers who enjoy a clean love story. I actually found that really refreshing—it was still engaging and full of charm, even without the spice.
Now, let’s talk about the “other woman” drama. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I’m that weird reader who enjoys it—even with the miscommunication. That element really pulled me in toward the end!
I don’t mind third person POV in books, but sometimes it can make characters feel a little flat. That might’ve been the case here with our main character—there were moments where I wished we got to dig a bit deeper into her emotions. Still, the setting was gorgeous, the pacing was great, and overall it was an enjoyable, heartwarming read.
Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this the ARC.

A Castle, Scotland and Kilts - who needs more!
The beautiful book cover, title and blurb reeled me in, making this, for me, a must read.
The storyline did not disappoint, it was such a cute and loveable story.
With an amazing cast of characters I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them all.
A story of a beautiful single English woman sent to sort out the books at a Scottish castle.
Bex certainly makes an impression.
Not only with winning over the grumpy but loveable old laird, but also the gorgeous groundskeeper Duncan, who’s getting over a breakup.
This was a delight to read.
The story at the end hinted at more, which I’m eagerly awaiting to find out just how Fergus, Bex and Duncan’s story plays out.

Who knew spreadsheets and Scottish charm could be such a swoon-worthy combo?
Kilts and Kisses at Highland Hall is a warm, witty escape to the Highlands that delivers the perfect blend of grumpy-sunshine romance, small-town meddling, and heartfelt moments. When no-nonsense London accountant Rebecca arrives to whip Highland Hall into shape, falling for the ruggedly handsome, emotionally guarded groundskeeper wasn’t in the business plan—but love isn’t always logical.
Hannah Lynn’s writing sparkles with humour and heart, and the chemistry between Rebecca and Duncan builds beautifully as the misty loch and a protective village backdrop bring everything to life. If you love slow-burn romance with depth, charm, and a hint of tartan, this one’s a delight.
A thoroughly feel-good read with all the Highland magic you could want. Can’t wait for the next in the series!

A good read. When accountent Rebecca is asked to go to Highland Hall in Scotland to sort out the accounts she couldn't be more surprised as she was sure she was going to get a promotion so it was with much apprehension she sets off for two months in the Highlands. It's a fun story as she makes friends with some lovely characters but also she meets Duncan who lives on the estate and there is an instant attraction as things start to get a bit complicated. I enjoyed the friendships and relationship's that shone through in this well written book

Hannah's sweet shop series was enough to make anyone melt. her writing sugar rush perfection. so when i saw she had a brand new series coming out i was nervous in my want for it. and this one gives us another starting point for another series and characters to fall in love with. except now we have a problem. there is another moment of reading Hannah's series that we have to fear the series ending again!
but in the meantime lets snuggle down, snuggle in and get enjoying this one whilst we can. because thats what it was...a joy.
Rebecca is a city girl, an accountant. and she is here for the number and only the numbers. she knows data and stats and how to make things work. but this city girl is needed in the Scottish countryside. at a castle no less. and to help a Laird who has far more to him than meets his gruff eyes. but what Bex didn't count on was this scenery, this place, this community and how it would make her feel.
and there is another thing...Duncan. hes the groundskeeper who laid back attitude doesn't go down well with Bex who needs order and action. but can these two be good for each other. can their opposites be a delightful tension. yes yes and yes! but there is more to untangle if these pair want something more. not least the fact this would be mixing business and pleasure and that is very much not what Bex is here for. but maybe she needs to change what shes here for, or what she allows herself to be here for. because come on Bex, look at Duncan we all love him.
ive always wanted to go to Scotland and this book only fuels that need. i could just picture the rugged charm of the surroundings.
there were characters and moments in this book where i saw a little glimpse of what could be to come in the other books. and i for one cannot wait.
the community and others in the books is also key to ones like this. and it was top tier brilliant.

Kilts and Kisses at Highland Hall is a sweet, lighthearted closed-door romance.
Accountant Bex is expecting a promotion. Instead, she’s sent to work at a castle in Scotland for 2 months. It’s here that she meets Duncan, the newly single and very handsome groundskeeper.
I liked Duncan and Bex’s dynamic. Their scenes were fun and I like how they built up a good friendship and working relationship too.
I was less sold on the friendships in the book. I found Lorna a bit much, particularly towards the end and felt Bex’s loyalty to her in the beginning was odd given that really didn’t know each other.
Aside from Lorna, the other background characters were great. It was great to read Fergus open up and be a little less grumpy. I also adored the animals!!
Lynn has definitely set up this up to be a series. While I did think there were one or two undercooked or unfinished plots, I’m willing to look past that with the expectation they’ll be addressed in future installments.
Overall, a this was nice light read with minimal drama and a HEA.
Thank you to the Hannah Lynn, Boldwood Books, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book.

This is a sweet, lighthearted romance set in a dreamy Scottish castle. Rebecca, a London-based accountant, is sent to the Highlands to organize years of neglected finances for a grumpy lord. There, she meets Duncan, the thoughtful groundskeeper, and sparks begin to fly despite emotional baggage and a ticking clock on her stay.
The story shines through its charming setting, likable leads, and a cozy small-town feel. Bex and Duncan’s slow-burn romance is adorable, with standout moments (like him buying her earplugs — swoon!). Side characters like Fergus, Lorna, and the lovable pets Ruby and Kenna add heart and warmth.
Though the late conflict feels a bit forced and the ending comes abruptly, it’s still an enjoyable, feel-good read that leaves you excited for more.

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC.
Highland Hall castle needs their messy accounts sorting and so City girl Bex Barker is sent to the Scottish Highlands to tackle them. She meets and falls in love with Duncan MacDuffrey who lives and works there.
This is a light-hearted and predictable feel-good read with the beautiful Scottish Highlands as a backdrop. Most characters are lovely, the animals are cute and the cover is gorgeous.
And yet I couldn't quite connect to the main characters. It is all a bit formulaic and there isn't much story. The enemies to lovers trope is not applicable here, in fact I found Duncan a bit too stalkerish, and why is it always the woman expected to uproot her life to a remote if pretty village? I liked grumpy Fergus but well-meaningly meddling Lorna was a bit much for me.
The ending at 92% feels way too abrupt and it is clear that this will have sequels. This author can't seem to let go of characters, as Daisy from the Wildflower Lock series (which I haven't read) is constantly mentioned and talked to. If that doesn't bother you because you love that series, you will like this too. It makes for easy but not very substantial reading.
