I will start off by saying, I am clearly a simp for cowboy romance books. like truly to my very bones. This had a slower start than most for me, and I think that stemmed from getting the backstory on Sheena and Denver. Once I got to know them and their struggles I couldn't get the pages to turn fast enough because of how deeply obsessed with them I am. The ending felt rushed but I didn't even care because the whole story was so beautiful. I really enjoyed this one!

Such a cute read to get you in the holiday spirit! Denver is a broody, overprotective cowboy, aka there’s nothing to dislike about him.
He feels responsible for protecting Sheena Patrick and her sisters after his father took their father’s life. When Sheena approaches Denver with a business opportunity, it’s the start of a perfect partnership (in more ways than one). The idea? Opening an axe-throwing bar, without killing each other 🤭
Both Denver and Sheena are the oldest siblings in their families, so they’ve spent their lives in caretaker roles. Because of that, they each have a strong sense of independence. It was heartwarming to watch them help each other heal and learn that it’s okay to lean on someone else.

"He was a fine specimen of a man; that much was true. But she didn’t have any use for men like him."
Denver feels a lot of things, especially responsibilities. Responsibilities for his family and the ones that were affected by his father's wrongdoings.
Sheena was left to care for her sisters at 18. Putting her life on hold to make sure they got the life they deserved. Now it's her turn to take control of her life, but she may need a little help from Denver.
What starts as a business agreement quickly turns into more between these two. And suddenly, there's a decorated tree in Denver's family room.
“You . . . you baked me a cake. You tried to molest me with your elf. And the toothbrush is too much for you?”
These two had such a great dynamic. I loved the banter and I especially loved how dependent our girl Sheena was.

❄️🐎 ARC Review: Cowboy, It's Cold Outside by Maisey Yates 🎄🔥
A favor owed. An off-limits romance. And a whole lot of Christmas heat in the snowy town of Four Corners! 🌨️💋
Sheena Patrick has always been the responsible one—raising her sisters after tragedy struck and putting everyone else first. But now? It’s her turn. 💪✨ She’s got big plans (hello, axe-throwing bar! 🪓🍸), and to pull it off, she’s calling in a long-overdue favor from the one man she swore she’d never rely on: Denver King. 😏👢
Denver’s been watching out for Sheena from the shadows—haunted by a past mistake that destroyed her family. When she shows up on his ranch with that fierce look in her eye, he knows he can’t say no. But the deal? Help her by Christmas and they’re even. Except... the snow starts falling, the sparks start flying, and suddenly this “favor” is feeling a lot like fate. ❄️❤️🔥

If you love your cowboys broody, your heroines strong, and your holiday romances full of heart (and heat!), Cowboy, It’s Cold Outside is the perfect winter escape. 🤠🎅💞

Well I started with book 12 of the series but that worked out fine! Denver and Sheena are the oldest siblings in their respective families and years ago, their families fell apart when their fathers criminal pasts came to light. They’ve given everything to protect and raise their siblings and Denver in particular has dedicated himself to atoning for his father’s past…but now Sheena’s got an idea of what she wants for herself, and she’s calling in the favor Denver owes her from years past.
This book is so illustrative of what two people who have protected themselves from feeling for so long because of family and childhood trauma get into when they are finally bowled over by another person who matters to them—and how scary that is. How you have to feel your way along, and how falling into old patterns can shatter fragile trust. And how being vulnerable is just about the bravest thing you can do.
There’s a Caretaking scene! I also loved that Sheena is a tough heroine and Denver likes that about her, but she still realizes that a lot of that is learned survivor behavior. I think they fit together really well. I definitely want to go back and read more on this series (edit: I just did and it was great)
Heat level: 4

I couldn’t put this book down! It was such a fun read and the plot was everything. The characters were amazing and the town was like a side character you loved.

Cowboy, it's cold outside, has me shivering with delight. Both characters have a past that connects them and a future that steals hearts. I love how Denver and Sheena are so much alike. They are like salt and pepper...meant to be. I also love the waves that collide when they become one, the connection it felt undeniable. I devoured this story and believe it would make a great holiday read.

I think this was a well written book but I had moments of feeling lost throughout the book. I found the characters likable enough and enjoyed reading. Thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC

Cowboy, It’s Cold Outside by Maisey Yates is a sweet, wintry romance that delivers on cozy vibes and cowboy charm. The premise, a brooding cowboy and a woman looking for a fresh start, is familiar but comforting, and Yates writes the setting well. You can really picture the snow-covered small town and feel the quiet loneliness the characters are trying to shake.
That said, while the chemistry between the leads is there, the story didn’t quite pull me in emotionally the way I hoped. Some parts felt repetitive, and I found the pacing uneven.

Every year in July, I like to read at least one Christmas novel. It's hot, everything here is miserably humid and just reading about colder weather is very very welcome.
So when I saw this very cute cover over at NetGalley, I decided to request it!
I'll just say - there is nothing new under the sun in this romance. That said, it delivers exactly what the cover promises! Generally when I read romance, I'm not looking for a stunning new life revelation, so this was perfect! We have a FMC, Sheena who is tough as nails, but also smart, sassy and sexy. our MMC is Denver, and he's really been living lately mostly to make amends for his Father's mistakes- some of which directly affected Sheena and her family.
Sheena decides it's time to call in the favor that he's promised quite some time ago. She wants help starting up a business. Despite skepticism from his family, Denver knows he's going to offer that help. What he doesn't know is that he's going to fall for Sheena as the season gets chillier! Sheena is just as caught off guard when she realizes she doesn't like seeing Denver with anyone but her! Yates digs into themes of family trauma, guilt, forgiveness and trust. All these complex emotions are of course resolved with a little bit of love, because this is a Happy Ever After ending book! One kind of disappointment for me is that there isn't a whole lot of ranching being done at Four Corners Ranch, but that also gives the novel a very contemporary feel as there are fewer working ranches these days and more folks in that area branching out into viable business ventures, just like Sheena and Denver are doing. I admit, I had real expectations of branding cattle, inspecting fence posts on horseback and other "ranchy" activities. Despite the Holiday cover, I did kind of feel like the Holiday wasn't really the emphasis of the novel and so I did not get my usual Warm fuzzy Jingle Bell feeling from this one, which detracted from my joy, but might be just exactly what someone else wants, less holiday hoopla and more healing and growth!
As a newcomer to the Four Corners series, I can attest that it isn't necessary to have read the other books in order. This comes out in October, and would make a good gift for the romance reader in your life, even if, of course, that romance reader is you! This looks like a perfect gift to top off a stocking!
Many thanks to NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing | Canary Street Press and Maisey Yates for this ARC.

Denver owes Sheena a favor, so he is helping her get her axe throwing bar up and running. sparks start to fly between them.

An emotional Christmas romance? Sign me up! While I really struggled with how repetitive the beginning was, I ended up really enjoying this story.

3-3.5 stars.
I wanted to love this book, but it felt repetitive with the dad issues and the chemistry just didn’t seem there for the main characters.
I did enjoy Denver and his grumpy vibes and I liked that he wanted to help Sheena and her sisters, but it wasn’t his guilt to feel and that made part of the story feel forced.
I did enjoy the ending, although it felt kind of rushed, I love a HEA.

My first impression after finishing the story was how deep Yates went into the complex area of familial guilt, compensation for others, wrongdoing, survivor's guilt in a sense, and just the emotions surrounding being let down by our parents.
Both of the main characters are working through taking care of siblings in prior years, and it really impacts the direction of the story. They’re tied together through the actions of others, so it’s inevitable that they work through the complexities and find a new beginning.
Both of them are passionate people in everything that they do, and the complexities surrounding their lives were extremely rich and highly detailed. Yates cast these two as opposites, yet they’re truly very similar types of people.
This brings intensity, deep romance, and sexy scenes that balance everything together. Trust is born and earned, and as the guards come down, so does the tension in the story.
This book is all about healing hearts and understanding that love is strength. Trust and forgiveness are high on the list, and Yates delivers the story with emotion and depth that you will feel long after the book is done.
I cannot believe I missed this series, and this is the final book. This reviewer is definitely starting from the beginning! Cowboy, It’s Cold Outside is delightful, steamy, complex, and emotional.

This was a fun spicy holiday read.
Denver and Sheena are great people haunted by their past. They help each other accept where they come from and grow into the people they can be once that heaviness is cleared.
While there was a little repetition and lots of internal conflict that slowed the story down a bit, I really loved seeing these characters bond.
Denver and Sheena had a super strong chemistry, hilarious banter and built a great connection.
This is a long series and the community in this book is fantastic. I have already put the first four books in the series on hold at my library and can't wait to see read more about Four Corners.
Thank you to NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing | Canary Street Press and Maisey Yates for this ARC.

Another book I picked because I’m a sucker for small town romances and beautiful covers!
The two main characters have similar personalities (grumpy, not willing to accept help, avoiding relationships and love) and trauma (missing mothers, bad fathers, took on the responsibility for their younger siblings), causing friction as they start working together to open an axe-throwing bar.
It’s fun to watch them butt heads and bicker. And the fact that they see and understand each other helps add some emotional depth. I also enjoyed the small town interactions, especially Denver’s meddling family.
Overall the story feels a bit slow and surface level. I wish it has gone deeper into their past, their shared experiences in coping with their family dynamic, as well as differences in how they impact their life.
Thank you to Maisey Yates, Harlequin, and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

Yates is an expert storyteller! This title was perfect for me because I love Christmas romance books. The theme was still fresh, even though the holiday romcom genre is overpopulated. I don’t mind one bit! It makes it more enjoyable when a writer can do it justice. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

Denver and Sheena’s story was such a heartfelt read. I loved how similar they are in their traumas, and how organic their connection was. Being a parentified oldest child myself, I understood the burdens they felt and why they operated the way they did. I gave this book 4 stars because I feel like it could’ve been shorter. I found myself skipping many many pages of just pure repetitive narrations. The amount of times I read the same explanations of why Sheena or Denver would do the things that they did frustrated me a lot. I wish there was more dialogue and less narration.

This book has everything I love right. now-Cowboys, Christmas & small down Oregon. Sheena and Denver had quite the back story and family drama. I understood and connected with them both being the oldest sibling & doing everything for others. Their attraction and chemistry was off the charts. Working together to open the Axe-Throwing bar was a fun adventure.
Overall this was a good western romance. 3.5 stars

Sheena and Denver make a heartfelt couple—not because they try to rescue each other, but because they walk side by side through the healing process. Years ago, a tragedy painfully linked them: Denver’s father was indirectly responsible for Sheena’s father’s death. Since then, Denver has offered his support, and now Sheena is ready to collect on a long-standing favor—one that forces them to work together and confront a chemistry they can no longer ignore.
This was my first Maisey Yates book, and it definitely won’t be my last. Even though it’s part of a series, it reads perfectly well on its own. I loved the small-town setting, the King family, and most of all, the emotional depth. Beyond the flirting and slow-burning tension, it’s the vulnerability that truly makes this story shine.
