I made the sloth using the pattern in this book. It turned out so cute and the patterns were very easy to understand. So excited for this book! I will be recommending it to patrons that love to crochet.

So much fun! A perfect intro to Amigurumi Critters that its accessible for anyone with a basic crochet understanding. The book walks you through tool and supply recommendations and tricks for altering your crochet style to best fit making these adorable creations. It also includes something for everyone: there are written instructions, clear and well marked photo instructions, AND QR codes for video tutorials. I can't wait to work through a few of these with my daughter!

Such a cute book! I really enjoyed that the beginning of the book included instructions on the basic stitches. While I am an experienced crocheter, I am sure this section would be a wonderful resource for someone who has not crocheted before. I was really impressed by the variety of patterns included in this addition. I definitely see some favorites, such as the axolotl, that I will be trying myself. Each pattern had a breakdown of the steps and visuals that pair nicely with the instructions. I can see this book being an invaluable resource for me as I go further along on my crochet journey.

I think the biggest challenge will be deciding which critter to do first. They are all so darn cute! I am a newbie to crochet but my daughter has some experience so she will be helping me along. Also the pictures seem very helpful and the QR code is a plus. I’m excited to start as I’ve been wanting to have a go at crochet for some time. Wish me luck!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Cider Mill Press for the advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

If you are looking for a beginner crochet book, this is not for you. This book is for someone who knows the basics of crochet and understands how to read a crochet pattern. If you are looking for a book that gives you everything you need to know to make cute animal stuffies, then grab this as quick as you can. From how to do invisible colour changes, to the benefits of staggard increases, this book has all the tips you need to make professional looking amigurumi. The patterns are clear, with lots of helpful pictures. A number of the patterns also have QR codes to video tutorials in case you prefer that style of tutorial. Definitely a book to pick up if Amigurumi is your thing.

This book of crochet designs includes step-by-step instructions and some great tips. As a beginner, I found it easy to follow thanks to the clear photographs and I'm so happy with the adorable fox I made. There are twenty-five animals to make altogether, including a sloth, penguin, frog, and capybara.

Great book with clear step-by-step instructions for creating 25 crochet critters. There are a variety of techniques used, so I would say this is not necessarily absolutely beginner unless you are very adventurous!

What a lovely little Amigurumi book! Thank you for a free eARC of Amigurumi Critters by Amy Ting.
Amigurumi Critters by Amy Ting has a nice variety of simple Amigurumi patterns for people who are new to crocheting these little critters, and to seasoned veterans. The pictures that are next to the patterns are very helpful and there are great little video tutorials that are accessed through QR codes with each pattern. The patterns are well written and easy to follow once you get used to how to read them. I also really enjoyed the scale of the projects-- the first animals are pretty typical for what you start with (chicks, ducks, turkeys, etc) and then get consistently more challenging. I really love the inclusion of the seal (so adorable) the spiders and the sea turtles! I have a few books like this, so it was nice to have some unexpected Amigurumi friends in here to make.
This a great addition to any experienced crocheter's Amigurumi collection, and a very helpful book for beginners!

Great for beginners! If you want to get into crocheting amigurumi, this book covers everything you'll need to know. It goes over stitch types, basic guidelines, and what materials you'll need. Most of these patterns are similar in shape and size (a good portion are birds), but there are a variety of techniques used to get a good starters' knowledge. All of the patterns include concise written directions, a lot of pictures, and a difficulty level.

This book is a great resource for experienced amigurumi makers as well as those new to the concept, but not new to crochet itself. The author does not waste time with basic crochet stitches, but gives ample detail on techniques specific to amigurumi. I appreciated the talk of different hook holds, hook sizes, and yarn choices - not too much detail as it's assumed the reader knows more crochet than a complete beginner. I also liked the inclusion of QR codes for more detail.
The patterns included are a nice mix of traditional (birds, dogs) and quirky (capybara, beluga whale) animals, and separating the figures by difficulty level is a nice touch to allow readers to build skill.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this title.

Such a thorough and well done book on crochet Amigurumi!! I loved all the breakdowns of every single element from yarn to stitches. I have crocheted amigurumi before following video tutorials, but reading these sections really had me understand the WHY behind certain patterns included certain elements. My son has already picked out several projects for me to work on! A great addition to any hobby crocheters shelf. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to provide my honest review!

Very fun patterns! The directions were clear and the patterns worked up easily. My kids loved the critters.

Fantastic book, really clearly laid out with simple clear instructions to follow. Some really cute amigurumi characters and I cannot wait to make more. My daughters want one of each one! My favourites are the turtles and the duck!

Very cute book featuring 25 Amigurumi critters that you can crochet with varying degrees of difficulty. While I wouldn't say this is for actual beginners to crochet, it does lay a nice base layer of information down and there is a link to YouTube videos to help guide those that are visual and auditory learners so I really appreciate the links. I have crochet experience, but even I found myself confused here and there and a lot of trial and error comes with the nature of the type of crochet. It was fun and can't wait to share some creatures with my teen and maybe teach her to make her own.
Thanks to NetGalley and Goodreads for ARC copies to review

Thank you NetGalley and Cider Mill Press for the ARC!
This book had me in stitches! (I’m so sorry, my husband insisted I use a horrible dad-joke🥴)
These patterns are adorable and I want to make them all! The photos of the critters are just the cutest. 😍
The instructions in this book are well written and easy to understand, with the addition of photos it is very easy to follow for different skill levels. The “techniques” pages with detailed explanations and pictures were extremely helpful!
I can’t wait to make a ton of these adorable little guys as gifts and toys for my kids!

I’m an amateur crocheter. Basically I had only ever done granny squares before this book. But I’ve finally made my first amigurumi! I loved how clear the instructions were, especially the difficult labels and all the basic technique instructions. Also all the pictures were just adorable. I made Henrietta the hen and while it certainly isn’t perfect, I’m very happy with the outcome. I’m excited to make more of this. Such a helpful book!

Easy to follow and loved the attention to detail. The characters came out cute! Thank you for allowing me to arc this crochet book! It helped me make the cutest stuffie for my niece !!

A very cute collection of little animals to crochet!
I’d consider myself a brave-intermediate crocheter, particularly stuffies/amigurumis, but I had never tried the ‘yarn under’ method of getting a denser fabric before. As someone who already gets a really tight tension normally, this technique was almost TOO tight; perhaps I should have gone up a hook size.
The instructions all seem clear and easy to follow, with pictures of what each segment/piece should look like, which was very helpful. I think the capybara is my favorite of the bunch, especially with the cute little orange included :3

What a fun guide book! I've only made the otter family, but I have several animals I want to make from this book! The instructions and accompanying pictures were clear and organized. There were some variation's offered for some parts, which made this book refreshing. It really encouraged the reader to find creativity. Though I've crochet for a few years, I enjoyed reading through the stitch tutorial. One this I wished this had was a table of contents for the animals. Especially in the electronic version, so it would be easier to find patterns when working on projects.

Such easy to follow instructions and cute examples to make. Thanks to NetGalley, the author, and Cider Mill Press.
