I chose to read this book for the cute fox on the cover but took away so much more. Amy has done such a great job putting these patterns together. Her collection includes tutorials for certain stitches, abbreviation charts and tips that are so well done. She really knows her stuff and showcases such fun and cute characters. It's so hard to pick a favorite.
Not only is this book colorful but it's full of insights that even seasoned crochet artists can use.
I really enjoyed this book and am thrilled to be adding it to my collection. I'll probably buy a copy for my niece and daughter too. This will make a cute gift. The critters inside will make fun gifts as well.
I'm excited to find more books by this author.
Thank you Netgalley for gifting me a copy of this book to review. All opinions in this review are my own.

I am an intermediate crocheter and I found this book delightful. The patterns are easy to read, and include photos to match, and the critters are adorable. I too like to use Hobbii yarn for amigurumi!
I really liked the patterns being broken up by difficulty level - and not just that but definitions of what that meant for this book as well. I am especially excited to create some sea creatures from this - Shredder (the shark) and the cute Otter Family are top of my list for my daughter. I have not seen some of the other sea creatures ever done in amigurumi before this too (beluga whale, dolphin).
I will probably make the cute capybara for my husband as well. What a cute book of critters to crochet! Thank you to Amy Ting and also to NetGalley for putting this on Camp NetGalley!

This book looks so fun. This looks beginner friendly for someone interested in learning a new skill. I like that there are pictures of skills you need to know. The instructions look clear and easy to understand. Could be a fun summer project to do with my kids. The mallard duck is very cute.

I received this DRC from NetGalley.
The patterns don't look very difficult to do; the instructions include photographs and are very clear. I thought the capybara and turtle were really cute. There appears to be a lot of similarity between some of the patterns, so these would probably be more suited to crocheters that are looking to keep it simple rather than looking to be challenged. Overall, the book is pretty cute and was formatted in an approachable way.

This is so cute. I’ve been crocheting for a few years now and always love finding new patterns for little critters and stuffies. The patterns are easy to follow and give good instruction.

Amigurumi Critters Is adorable!! This was the perfect balance of information, instruction and photos. Every single critter is adorable and exactly the type of craft I’d like to make and give to friends (and then make more for my own house)

as someone who learn crocheting by themshelves this book has amazing explanations. the stitches and patterns are super well explained and i love the explanations of the stitches in the beginning too.
there is so much selection of cute animals (the shark is my favourite) and just a lovely crocheting book :)
thank you for allowing me to read this

Thank you to Amy Ting and NetGalley for an opportunity to read this book and give my honest feedback.
As a self-taught and experienced crocheter, I found many details of this amigurumi guide to be particularly helpful. All of the pictures with different techniques regarding stitches was particularly helpful for a beginner crocheter.
The patterns given in this guide are all adorable. The step by step pictures (especially when sewing different pieces together) are particularly useful.
As I was looking through the patterns I kept saying to myself "Okay, this is definitely the cutest critter!" - to be proven wrong when I got to the next pattern. Such cute designs!
It's been several years since I have picked up my yarn and crochet hooks, but this book made me want to pick up the hobby more regularly again!

As a beginner in the crochet world, it is easy to get overwhelmed by all the different designs, trying to figure out what tools to purchase, and knowing where exactly to start.
What I liked about this book, is how easy to read and understand it is, while still being very detailed and informative. The bonus was having the QR codes available in the book. It makes it so easy not only get access to the exact items needed to complete the projects, but we are even given a QR code that leads to a YouTube page filled with amazing educational videos. If you are someone who learns best by watching someone else do it on video, this would be best for you. I really appreciated that!
My 12-year-old has always wanted to crochet but honestly, I did not know where to begin and how to help her. I hope to go through this book and learn as much as I can and then use it as a teaching tool for her. This will be such a fun way not only to learn to crochet but to get to spend some quality mother-daughter time together while doing something she has always been interested in.

Finally!!! A crochet book that has QR codes that take you to videos for help!! I love love love this book!! I also want to note that it has levels from easy to difficult and I like that. I wish more crochet books had that. I definitely struggled when I started crocheting and if this book have been out two years ago I feel I would’ve gotten the hang of it quicker than what I did. I can’t wait to make Taffy the axolotl and Merlin the frog (I also have a witch hat pattern that will go so well with him!) as I plan on making both as birthday gifts soon!!

Amigurumi Critters contains patterns for 25 adorable different animals ranging in difficulty from intermediate-beginner all the way through to expert. The book also provides more general tips for crochet and assembly and talks you through everything you will need to get started using the book including choosing a crochet hook and yarn.
I absolutely love the designs in this book and there are some animals in this book which are quite rare in the crochet world such as the fox or a beluga whale as well as some of the classics such as a turtle or a frog. The patterns were presented very clearly and I thought the instructions for assembly were very well written. I tend to struggle with assembling the pieces of amigurumi and it ends up not looking like the pattern but I liked with this book that the instructions are precise and tell you which round or which stitch to sew a piece to.
Overall these are very well written, easy to follow patterns and I think all the critters are adorable. Getting 25 patterns in one book also seems like great value for money!

I must confess I do not crochet, but have always aspired to, and this is the perfect little starter guide! Each animal shows the level of difficulty and there are several beginner options. I also think this book is so easy to follow that it is appropriate for children who are wanting to learn this craft!
Thank you to NetGalley and Cider Mill Press for an ARC in exchange for my feedback.

EXACTLY what I needed! I have had this little crochet kit sitting in my dragon-like hoarding pile for waaaaaay too long. Finally, a book to help me get started. Amigurumi Critters by Amy Ting has been a really great guide for someone like me. I need clear and basic instructions when it comes to making anything. I don't have the patience to get mired down with an overly explained process; this is perfect.

*Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC, all views and opinions are my own.*
As a beginner crocheter, I found the instructions very clear and easy to follow. I liked how, at the beginning, there were instructions for the different things that you might come across while following the pattern - not having to go and search what they are is a plus for me.
If you want to start crocheting, or even if you are more advanced but want to give amigurumi a try, definitely consider picking up this book.

Extremely easy to understand. Lots of cute patterns and great directions.
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for this ARC. All opinions are my own

A solid collection of amigurimi patterns. As someone who has been hesitant to start making amigurumi, I appreciate all the information and tips at the beginning. I think that will be very helpful, and I can’t wait to start working on Gertrude.

I've only just taught myself to crochet and I love this book! It is full of cute little plushie ideas and gives a basic overview of stitches needed, plus reads in order of difficulty.

Great for myself who is a beginner but knows the basic stitches. Easy to follow. Lots of lovely ideas. Love that they are categorised by beginner, intermediate and experienced. Can definitely work your way through. Can’t wait to try some more, but the first one I made was a success. Such helpful instructions😊

This is such a cute book!
I have been crocheting for over 40 years, but mostly afghans and scarves. Amigurumi is a craft that has a person stuffing their crocheted project to make cute creations. In this book, Amy Ting offers up adorable 4-5" creatures, each with a backstory and a name. I could see the sea otter family being a sweet gift for a family expecting their first child. All the animals are simply so cute!
This book assumes that the reader knows how to do basic crochet stitches. The instructions at the start of the book speak more to tools/supplies (like yarn types and hook options) and techniques (like starting with a magic circle or ways to make arms). The patterns that follow are laid out from intermediate-beginner to expert. Even with all my years crocheting, I'd likely start with an intermediate-beginner level pattern as I haven't done amigurumi before. Besides a hook and yarn, other tools and supplies are needed, like a darning needle, embroidery floss, and possibly safety eyes.
I have not heard of Amy Ting before and don't follow her on social media, but apparently, you can learn more about her and her creations there.
I think the book is lovely and I am likely to buy it for my niece, who makes amigurumi items.
I was given access to this book via Netgalley and Cider Mill Press.

Really cute crochet critters! Very detailed instructions, I love that there is a picture for every step. I am a beginner crocheter & this seems really easy to follow. They are also so cute! Can't wait to try to make one for my niece, she will love it!
